I'm wondering if it might be some kind of open topped transport for Primaris?

I've honestly no idea why, but that's my gut feeling.

Cozy cockpit of an Imperial Knight

That would be IIRC the Overlord, which is a massive piece of equipment even bigger than the Stormbird.

Wow! Really?

They've mentioned that recently, in relation to Primaris Marines?

Honestly, could this simply be a new version of the Rhino? With a SoB army in the works, maybe GW finally decided to update the frankly ancient Rhino kit?

I thought the Overlord was the Armoured Airship the Squats had in Epic?

It was in the Dark Imperium novel by Guy Haley. But like the Inceptor carrying low orbit dropship that also has nearly as much screen time in the book, its probably intended to be a background only thing.

Is the new GC vehicle possibly linked to a prior image that looked like it had a guard rail? No idea how to pull up that image.

Hmmm. The wrapping around the whip makes me lean more towards a materium Slaaneshi follower, rather than a daemon.

Maybe it is part of a larger Slaaneshi mortals release along with this?

Too crude looking. More likely something for Skaven. We’ve gotten multiple Slaaneshi whips, and none have looked like that. The wrapped rags are more a Skaven thing.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

The problem is that there are still a couple of other tanks that are based on the rhino, so they either have to keep producing the rhino sprues or update them all in one go

The wraps make me think skaven which makes me think new packmaster. That would fit considering that the rat ogres/giant rats and packmaster kit is a very old plastic one and the only other pack master on sale is a metal one with a multi-headed whip.

This one is tricky, the braiding is very neat but then there's the bandage wrapping, a bit incongruent. Chaos Mortals maybe? But it's a very big piece, easily believable as a greater daemon weapon.

Maybe rigging? Ship, warshrine, etc?

Perhaps something from Darkoath? They may have a whip person leading a pack of hounds for example?

That whip has a chaos/skaven look to it IMO.
As said, the brading is neat but the wraps throw it off as anything elf like.

The whip looks like it will break the first time it's touched.

GW's models are amazing; far better than anything we've had before, but at the same time they're becoming increasingly less practical to near impossible to handle and use in a game.

I'm saying packmaster still - its got the same wrapping around the breakpoint and its got the same multi-whip head. Plus its an older model still in metal and the one sold in the plastic kit is also old- both ripe for an upgrade into a brand new kit.

Much too big for a man-sized whip, and too rigid.

Braiding doesn't match anything in the catalog that I can find.

It's going to be rigging on some weird new faction terrain piece.

Look at the Loonshrine, imagine how many 1" sections of it would have made absolutely no sense in a rumour engine pic.

Very plausible. I'm going to hold out hope for more sky pirates, but a terrain piece is a good shout.

Could still be Skaven terrain mind.

If it was Clan Skyre sky pirates, that vs Kharadron would be an amusing reversal of the old Dwarf-Skaven underground wars

Definitely looks like a cat-o'-nine-tails. I don't think it's rigging. If it was, you'd think more of it would be taut and aimed in set directions, but the lengths curve gently in a variety of directions. The wrapping also doesn't really speak 'Skaven' to me, because wrapping doesn't have to be elegant on these, it just has to work. The actual braiding is very neat and uniform. If it was Skaven I'd expect more variations, fraying, etc.

So, my guess is some sort of Slaanesh mortal release, or perhaps a future Dark Elf release. Either way, I expect it for Age of Sigmar and not 40k.

Doubtful; the wraps are too “crappy” for somebody like Lucius. He’d sneer at something like that.

Look at his loin cloth, or crude wrapping on the tanks above his head. If anything, the wrapping makes both look like work of a caveman in comparison.

Granted, new model will probably be more elegant but out of the four chaos champions, L was always the most crude and unrefined in looks IMO.

That’s not crude wrapping; it’s skinned flesh from his victims.
