What are some situations where the dice gods have looked upon your rolls and in their great booming voice said: "NO".
Had a game today where the dice gods were smiting all my rolls. A couple of highlights though would be:
Penitent engine 4" from a primaris captain and techmarine. Fails to do any wounds with its 2 heavy flamers and then rolls snake eyes for its charge.
Opponent fires 12 bolter shots into my seraphim unit. 12 hits, 12 wounds. Fail 6 of my 2+ armour saves and lose the squad.
Immolator fires at thunderfire cannon and fails to score any wounds. Sisters squad with plasma pistol, meltagun and heavy flamer fire into cannon- plasma pistol blows up on overcharge and all the shooting fail to do anything except the meltagun that does 2 wounds (in melta range). Charge the stupid thing. Lose one girl to overwatch. Another from the cannon in combat and then rolled a 6 in morale and lost the last of the squad.

I once tried to spam multiple psychic powers (before the smite nerf) with three BA psykers. From about 20 powers i tried to manifest only 4 or 5 were successful. I had four or five double 1s, two of them happened in a row on the same psyker, killing him.

Had a game with GK against eldar at 1000 pts tournament. Eldar was not top power list, so by turn 3 I somehow survived with most troops on table. I was closing the game because of the time limit and all I have to do for a win is gating a strike squad to a midfield objective. I roll for psychic test and that is snake eyes. No CP left for reroll. Earlier in that game I spen 2 or even 3 CP to defend GMNDK from Smites and Forcefield discharge with Truesilver Armor stratagem. Out of about 10 5+ FnP rolls he didn't make a single one.
As a result 9-11 loss.

5 tactical marines in a crater surviving 4 dakkafexes and some devilgants unloading 100+ devourer shots at them. Turns out the good guys really do win every time. Must have had some serious plot armor.

Recent game I had where I had both sides of the spectrum.
My genestealers with catalyst proceeded to loose 2 guys to half his armies shooting, then my swarmlord failed every single save in melee, taking 18 damage from his knight cerastus lance.

I just played a game where I rolled 12 one's in a row on my three Twin Las/Missile Hellbrutes. Then in the following assault phase rolled a double 1 on my Maulerfiend charge.
I had an audience of people gathered around the table by the end of it just laughing at me.

Sounds like badly balanced dice to me. I bought a batch (30+) of really cheap D6s only to discover later that they rolled 1 pretty consistently. I was able to isolate the worst ones (about 15 of them which would roll 1 at least 50% of the time) and threw them out, but the left-overs still roll 1 a lot more than they should. GW dice aren't even close to regular either, so you'll get some bad apples in each set for sure.
If you want good (fair, random) dice, machined dice with filled pips are the way to go. Casinos and competitive backgammon use these. They're a lot more expensive than the regular dice most wargamers use, however.

|
Charged 30 Hormaguants into a squad of five Necron Deathmarks. Failed to kill a single one. On the Necron’s turn, fight again. Again, no Necrons die. My turn again, finally one Necron goes down. Then it makes its Ressurection roll.
On my opponent’s next turn, they withdrew the Deathmarks. The hormagaunts let them go to go bother someone else.
I did finally kill the Deathmarks with another unit, but those hormaguants - some biomancer in the swarm got reabsorbed after that fiasco.

I fired every heavy weapon in a 1000pt marine list (2 Lascannons, 1 Plasma, 1 regular Heavy Bolter and one with the "hit for d3 mortals" strat, and 3 Missile Launchers) at a Basilisk with a single wound. Faile every single to-hit roll.
My Redemptor dreadnaught has yet to get more that two shots in a single turn out of the Macro Plasma Blaster (a Heavy d6 weapon) and it's been on the table every other game or so for the last 8 months. It has also completely failed to kill anything in melee to-date despite several attempts.
Last game I fired 1400 points worth of Marine guns at a single Razorback without scratching the paint.
I've also had the worst luck with overwatch rolls coming my way. I once lost a charging Lieutenant to a Knight who hit with the Sheildbreaker missile on the very first dice roll. I figured "No way probability doesn't snap back after that right?" and charged with my Captain. Same result. Surrendered on the spot.

Scouted a squad of 4 melta Dominions within 12" of a reengadde Knight. AOF fired them all- Zero damage to the knight
Moved them within 6", fired all again, did no damage.
Knights turn - walks past and erases them and their transport.
The Knight had a 5++ save - nothing more.

I was playing a loosing game with my orks agains wraith constructs. Round 2 and hidden 15 tankbustas and 6 bomb squigs appear. Time to turn the tide! I split fire at 3 wraith lords as a desperate attempt to turn the tide. I get a whopping 5 wounds on one in total... Enemy turn they heal the damage and wipe me out
I had high ground in cities of death so my rokkits were ap-3

He loved his first solo victory LoL

Played a game last Friday as Nids VS Crons.
Setup the following charges into his 20 man warrior blob with lords attached supported by 10 immortals:
DS Flyrant with AGs (9" away)
DS Trygon prime with AGs (9" away)
DS 16 Stealers (9" away)
Walking Carnifex (7" away)
All behemoth for reroll charges and had a reroll CP saved up too.
Yup. Not a single gribbly hit his lines.....

squad of 20 hormagaunts charged into 5 tacs, lost 5 to overwatch (flamer in squad, didn't think much of it) and over the next 3 turns proceed to never kill a single marine and all gaunts are slowly whittled down and die.
I don't even... What?
Later match against my Chaos Daemons those 5 marines got insta killed by insane luck from one shooting attack from my soul grinder (D6 shot one) so swings and roundabouts I guess.

Yeah, rolling 4 ones with 4 dice should have a 1/1296 probability. Yet I've succeeded in doing so at least 3 times I can recall. Once it was terminator saves. Once it was two meltas rolling for penetration within half range against AV11, and once it was rolling to wound a T3 Farseer with four S6 assault cannon hits, meaning any 2+ would have instant killed him.
And these are just the times that 4 ones were clutch rolls. I'm sure I've done it some other times as well with not nearly as disappointing consequences thus forgetting them. Can't remember ever rolling something like four sixes on a clutch roll.

The dice gods really don't want my friend to succeed in charging regardless of faction.
Once boosted a large unit of Plaguebearers he had deepstruck. Had my Ravagers in the sight and would have wiped them all if he had succeeded. He rolls a 3. Next turn: Same thing.
Then he started Orks. Brings a large blob of Orks on my genestealers with Da Jump. He has them all with gazillion attacks and would outright wipe my Genestealers if he succeeds charging. Rolls a 3 on the charge. Uses the Ork thing to reroll charge. Gets a 2. I then eat almost all of them in the subsequent turn. He uses the ability to regen the squad. Tries to charge again. Fails. Fails again with reroll. He was not a happy campter after that.
At this point I am almost suggesting he just keeps to gunline armies. Melee is not intended for him in this life.

Was playing nids against orks the other day and my swarmlord refused to die. I was kinda throwing him out there so the ork player could have some fun.
He was actually rolling really well and forcing me to make a lot of invo saves. Kill cannons score 3 wounds. I roll 3 6's for the saves. His lootas shoot me with more daka score like 9 wounds - I make all my 4+ saves. He charges with super warboss - He scores like 8 wounds - I make all but one save then make all my 5+++. He proceeds to kill both his warboss before the other warboss got to fight. Then I mowed down about 40 boys and all his characters with my fexen and double shooting tyranofex. It was a sad day for the orks.

I've had some good ones and bad ones. Recently I lost 4 of my 6 Ravenwing Black Knights to a single shooting attack from a unit of Custodes. 4 4+ saves, all 2's and 3's from my dice. That's just a mild example and the only specific one that comes to mind at the moment.
There have been some insanely good rolls for me too. Back near the start of 8th edition, I had a Venerable Dreadnought fail some saves against shots from Hive Guard. The Dread had 1 wound left and needed to make 4 6+++ Venerable saves to live. I rolled 4 6's. I lost the game, but that Dread was a badass for me and kept me in it a bit longer. Another one was a game against Custodes where a unit of the Vertus Praetors charged my Knight Gallant. Gallant had the 5++ in melee relic and made 6 out of 7 saves. That was sweet. Yet another one was my Dark Angels vs. Tau. My Hellblaster unit took 11 wounds from a Riptide, but made 9 out of 11 4++ saves (from Azrael).

Small bad example ftom me, a few months ago had a game with Marines VS Daemon, in which a Daemon Prince run riots in my line, and I positioned my Lieutenant and Captain ready to shoot and charge, but both their plasma pistols exploded, even with rerolling still both are  . That is 1/1296 in terms of probability but the dice god just pour this gak on me and I lost the game.

My Heavy Bolter Chaos Space Marine in Kill Team seems utterly ineffective until my team is reduced to a few marines, and I have long since lost the game . Then he becomes Korne incarnate.
The dude doesn't do a single thing all game until it is down to him and a chainsword chaos space marine. He is surrounded by the Death Watch, one with thunder hammer. Only then does he completely ace the Leadership test to keep from breaking and go to curb stomp one of the Death Watch marines in close combat. It took the Death Watch player 3 turns and 3 marines finally bring that guy down.
We were just playing until my team finally broke since the game was decided in like 15 minutes in. But that heavy bolter marine was bound and determined to go down swinging taking as many loyalists as could. He just didn't want to do it at range.
Pretty much the same thing happen when I played Admech too. I had already long since lost, but we kept going anyways. The heavy bolter marine had 3 Skitarii (one being a vanguard alpha) and a rust stalker on him. They never did take him down.
If I could only convince him to do that while I have some semblance of a chance instead well after the fact.

Had a game in 7th that a friend brought a wraithknight. Now my dice werent bad in this situation, in fact they were amazing; but my opponents were more amazinger.
My 3 exorcists each rolled 6 shots when firing for 3 turns straight, along side another 8 meltaguns and several plasma pistols. So for 3 turns, i fired 28 S8 ap1 (7th ed) shots at that bloody wraithknight. Majority hits, majority wounds. Friend rolls all saves and what doesnt save, he passes with the FnP.
That was also the moment my hate for wraithknights was born.
