That's because so many people don't get Slaanesh, or they buy into the 1-dimensional 1d4chan-esque "Lol! God of Sex!" nonsense. Even had one idiot once tell me that Slaanesh was "obviously queer-coded", whatever the feth that's supposed to mean.

Slaanesh is the Chaos God of Excess. The reduce that to "Sex and drugs ROFL!" is just stupid. There's is so much more to it than that, and it's precisely why the new KoS is just sublime even if I may like the GUO and 'Thirster more.

Again, the 2 models mentioned above are amazing, it`s just not very Slaanesh... More Cirque du Soleil.

The legacy Warhammer Fantasy miniatures: Daemonettes, Seekers, and Chariots all suffer from having to form up in block units. Their stiff poses are at odds with the dynamically posed post-AOS models; like the Fiends, Masque, and the to Heralds with the mirror/portal thing. The new KOS and Daemon Prince aren't in fighting poses at all. They look like they'e walking down a fashion show runway. Decadence and perfection indeed.

I think the most impressive thing about the new KOS is how much of the original KOS bovine aesthetics the managed to get into its head. Although I'm not as fond of the hoofs for the feet. That and the fact its not a just another model with its breasts hanging out. Unlike all the "not KOS" models that have come out from the like of creature caster, etc.

Indeed, well put. Slaanesh was always about seeking to experience every facet in the fullest sense. Take something as innocuous as racing a car. For Slaanesh, you must win, you must loose, you must go fast, you must go slow and you must crash so that you experience every facet and revel in each emotion to the fullest and indulge in its exhilaration.

In the case of the Seekers I have to disagree. The Diaz Seekers looked like they were speeding forward, with the riders holding onto the Seekers as if they were racing forward. They ranked up fine!

The current Seekers are just kinda sitting there on their steeds, no momentum inherent in their posing at all. To be fair the Hellstriders are probably worse in this regard, but still, when things like the DEldar Jetbikes can have riders that show off their speed it's weird that the Seekers somehow don't.

As for the Chariot and regular Daemonettes, that's a matter of taste I suppose. I've never been much of a fan, but I have lots of Diaz Daemonettes so it never really bothered me much.

Keeper of Secrets has really capture the androgynous aspect.

Rear arms distinctly masculine, front arms distinctly feminine. Face is bit of both.

The pose is fantastic. Bravo GW, bravo.

Fully agree with the KoS assessment. Beautiful model. I'm okay with 28mm Epic. 40k at big points is unwieldy. If GW 'borrow' Mantic's design for Kings of War you get unit profiles rather than individual models. You lose granularity but you gain tactical depth. As long as it's done properly. For example, if we now have movement trays we can bonuses to shooting units in their rear-facings etc etc.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Of course it will turn out to be 28mm Epic, and honestly that's hilarious. If GW follow their previous pattern where whatever version of Apocalypse comes with the existing edition becomes the template for the baseline army size of following editions, it won't be long before I get to say "told ya so" to a few folk I know who were utterly dismissive of the idea this would be the inevitable result of bringing flyers and Big Stuff into the base game's rules.

Everything else is either interesting or awesome.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

15mm or even 6mm would have been great for Apocalypse Games. 28mm just doesn`t fit on a 4x6 Table. You will need 6x8 minimum, better 6x12. This may fit in the average american garage/kitchen, but in europe it`s hard to find a place for tables like this.
I´m a real GW fanboy, but I will give this a pass (I need to save money for the SoB release)

Please correct my english. I won't get any better if you don't.

I'd like to point out the obvious; the head also has masculine and femenine traits, alongside that bovine/caprine snout. I hope there is an actuall bullhead option.

Actually, I wonder if there will be a conehead option too. And if the named version of the kit will be a new character or a returning one.

is that Keeper of Secrets the best model GW has ever done? I... think it might be. I actually gasped audibly when I saw it. Especially the head, which is just... exquisite. And just after they released Abaddon, who is another candidate for that title. The KoS could easily be a very expensive boutique resin model from one of the best freelance sculptors in the world, it’s just that good. I wonder who did it?

I'm going to say that the new thing coming to painting is GW doing its own airsprayer with compressor coupled to a bigger release of air-sprayer suitable paints coupled to Duncan doing tutorials with one.

GW has never pushed that line very strongly before and it is something that would make a lot of painting a lot faster for many. It also changes a lot of the things they can do with painting and painting tutorials, plus whilst its not easy its a lot easier than some brush techniques for blending colours to fade one into the other.

The librarian looks fantastic and the new Apoc rule set is just what one would expect for 40K.

The AoS stuff looks equally great! The new Warcry update sounsd like only chaos will get models but the other factions get to bring models in - they might even poach the Shadspire warbands to do that - a neat way to cross-sell the models (they'd then work in regular, shadspire and Warcry)

The new Keeper looks powerful and very Slaanesh! The only two things I'm curious about are how much variety comes with the kit since the other Greater Demons come with a fair bit of optional building, its also interesting that they've not mentioned a "named hero" version of it which the other gods have had at least one of in their kits.
The new Prince and Herald looks both very neat but also super fragile with the herald dancing around on top AND with a long three headed whip in plastic.

Also lets not forget GW was birthed in the old times - in the times of excess where it was Rock-n-Roll, sex and (recreational) drugs. The only thing we are missing is a proper rock band!

Love the new Kharadron war band, the Fryeslayer forge looks cool as a terrain piece too.
I missed that Warcry was going to have non chaos war bands from the start - that's great news! I have just read about how they were exploring various aspects of chaos and I just assumed it was all about chaos [which is fine but not my thing].

The KoS is amazing! I'm not a chaos fan at all but that is a fantastic model- it has that strange unsettling beauty and otherness .. outstanding I think. The Masque is a bit poor but the deamon Prince looks great as well - mortals units like that would be amazing.

Apoc- well I hope for some nice big centre piece models for some factions. The see through movement trays could be useful for tyranid horde armies and maybe AoS too.

A GW air brush is interesting too- their tools and paints, while not cheap have been pretty good quality.

I like the new Slaanesh models (especially the KoS), but I'm a little confused that here doesn't seem to be any new, well, units. Just a couple champions. Not sure what fills out the battletome.

Overall, bigger preview than I expected, even if war cry and Slaanesh were the only interesting bits. Epic 28mm just makes me tired.

I guess my brother needs to wait a bit more on Noise Marines. Not that surprising after the CSM release and Khorne getting demons but not World Eaters, either. I hope at least one of the Traitor Legions shows up this year, though. My Word Bearers won't say no if someone likes a specific god too much.

If they won't release Slaanesh marauders or Slaangors with Darkoath or EC or suitable minis for Warcry I'm going to punch a goat, though.

And no BB Lizzies! Boooo!

Oh that's a great idea. I imagine the Warcry warbands would probably more variable in size than the very tightly controlled Shadespare warbands, but even so, that's a great starting point.

IIRC Duncan doesn't use an airbrush - he'd be an odd choice for doing tutorials. Nickj Bayton has just become their third "demo" painter, so if he's an airbrush user it'd be possible. Or they'd get another person too.

It is my great hope for Apocalypse that it means over time GW can move 40k back to company level and focus on making it work great at that level, rather than a super flexible set of rules that can scale up or down. The idea is that we would now have separate systems to scale the game up or down (Apocalypse and Kill Team, respectively) so 40k doesn't have to try and shoehorn in superheavies or fliers or things like that which never really fit the company scale of the game.

Of course, the chances of this happening is close to zero as people would just cry about their hobby being limited.
