@Lord Marcus. A suggestion. In future kits for the Death Fields range, perhaps one arm could be sculpted with an open clutching hand. This way a number of different weapons or accessories could be glued there. For example, in the Grognards set, there is one sword arm. If that arm was open, the buyer could put a pistol, sword, or a walkie-talkie. (Assuming said bits were included.) Maelstrom's Edge does this, as does some of the Frostgrave kits. This could give added flexibility and value.
Had another thought about using the Grognards kit; Firefly Browncoats. The Adrian helmet is not quite right, but it is close. "No one leaves Serenity, you just learn to live there."

Seconded!
I've always been fond of how the 3rd edition marines and plastic catachans had left lands cupping their guns rather than try to mold them to the guns. Much more flexible and allowed for easy weapon swaps.

Agreed- I want my officers to be brandishing both pistol and sword without having to resort to using parts from other kits!
I'll figure something out and swap bits but it would've been nice to be able to have both available.
Or enough so I could make the bladed bearskin brigade dual wielding chainswords across the death fields!

I also would like to share my fondness for that particular option of assembly.
Ooh, and I’d love to see some peaked caps. Not those piddly caps they have in historical kits. I want to see some *really* peaked caps.

Spider rider revealed
Giant Spiders Reveal Week continues with a look at what can be done when combined with the upcoming Goblin Warband set. We have cleverly (if we do say so ourselves!) designed some of the Goblins to be able to be used as riders and included a saddle option in their set. (No fears though as every figure in the Goblins set can also be used as straight infantry models as well.) The Spiders will be out first, but you can keep this in mind as you make your army plans. Painting and photography by Matthew Leahy.

Eh, that looks a bit awkward. Instead of making a saddle "adapter" the sprue space would have been better used just making alternate legs that fit on the spider. I don't super care since I prefer the GW goblin aesthetic so it's plain spiders for me. Or maybe raygun spiders.

'I'll take the spiders' response #3.
I'm trying hard to remember that producing a multi-part plastic mini kit is no mean thing and not to expect works of polystyrene art that would make Rodin jealous, but I look at that goblin balanced on an awkward wooden yoke like a He-Man toy and...

The spider is pretty ok, not completely sold on the wrinkly abdomen. But the goblin rider tacked on looks like a poor conversion.

Of a regular, standing goblin used on top of a spider, would be my guess.
I agree on the general: the spiders look great, the goblin looks like a poor sculpt and putting it on top of the spider doesn't improve either, IMHO.

I think the goblin is styled after 80s D&D artwork and if that's a conscious choice that's fine as long as there is a market for it, North Star is doing the same. Of course the difference being that North Star can't do better, while Atlantic has done better in every previous kit, so this looks a bit weird.

Style is one thing, but I don't know if that takes in the shallow detail, the irregular detail (that lumpy bicep that's been bugging me doesn't look more impressive in the flesh), the arm as floppy-looking as a wet noodle, etc.
And then there's the fact that this is how we're first presented with it, 'in the flesh'. Plonked on top of a spider, held a few scale inches off a wooden pringle by the power of it's loincloth alone.
I want to like it, I'm not trying to troll, but there's too much about it that comes over half-assed. After the good results of the other fantasy kits, and after all the lukewarm WIP feedback on this forum, too.
Maybe they went crazy for it on TMP. I dunno.

If my FLGS wanted to order Wargames Atlantic kits (not necessarily carry them full time) would they be available via a distributor or just directly from the company?
Thanks.

Golden distribution is a good source for wholesale, Wargames Atlantic also wholesales and drop ships.

From their facebook, an interesting idea.
Let's talk bodies! Ooh la la!
Specifically, let's talk about the generic body type shown in this image. Assume you have this body type in multiple poses on a separate sprue. Starting with that as a basis, what sets could you build with the appropriate additional heads, weapons, shields, cloaks, equipment, and other bits on another sprue? Any genre, any period but assuming the base bodies don't change.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/WargamesAtlanticLegion/
Automatically Appended Next Post: I asked if they were planning a box of nuttin but bodies and they said no. A shame, I could probably do a whole army with my bitz boxes.

The plan is to have a Sprue of bodies that we can put on a high-volume mold, and then pair that with a specific themed sprue of arms/heads/shields/bits to make specific kits.
Regarding the distribution question, please email info@wargamesatlantic.com

I actually prefer that spider to GW's. Now that body first though is unarmoured dark age bodies who does them Gripping Beast, Victrix and Warlord to start with........The similar generic chainmail idea has however been well done by Fireforge Games Scandinavians and Russians so it might work.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. More Giant Spiders - here's a better shot of what would be 1/2 of the box contents (not including some of the optional bits and sci-fi parts) And also a scale comparison with other 28mm figures. Thanks to Matthew Leahy for the painted models and photos.

Sweet! Although I know from experience that aligning loose legs to sit flush on the ground with the body somewhat level will be a nightmare
So is that a full box? Looks a bit less than the usual 24 dudes but I guess it might be due to all the extra bitz taking up sprue space.
