RazorEdge is right on my opinion. It depends on the period you want to evoke. It is very helpful to see, for example, the H. Russell Robinson's typology (little outdated but still valid):
- 5th century AD : Spangen helmet (Spangenhelm) ;
- 4th century : Ridge Helmet, Berkasovo, Intercisa and Deurne helmets ;
- 3th century : Niederbieber C-F and I or Heddernheim helmets ;
- 2th century : (first half) Weisenau, Imperial gallic G-I or CF, auxiliary infantry B or Weiler (aux. cavalry B and G) ; (second half) Niederbieber Aux. Cav. C and F... and so on.
Up to myself, Ridge, Berkasovo and Deurne helmets are the most beautiful ones !

A shame they didn't showed one with the more cool helmets. But ey, cheap genestealer cultists is always fine.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

The space helmet miniature hasn't been fully painted yet- those other two were test runs for color approval

Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"

I'll definately be doing mine as True Hardcases; in fact that's a good nickname for the penal legion I have planned - i've always wanted to do one but the only other decent option until now was Victoria miniatures which are too pricey when you need 100 guys.

How many in a box please?

That Roman Helmets on the Illustration look so wrong in many ways, nearly so wrong like the Helmets in GBs Late Roman Sets...

Left one looks like a Niederbieber or Heddernheim Type, but the Cheek Guards look completly wrong; there were no Roman Helmet Designs with such a strainge Design. Nether the earlier Gallic influced, or the late Helmets had such Cheek Guards, Niederbieber and Heppernheim Types had larger ones; overlapping and uarding the chin..

Right one looks like a mix of a Deurne Type and a Germanic Spangenhelmet, but not how one of both should looks. The Point on the Helmet with the Horsehair is common for Cavalry Units in Roman and Germanic Armies - but only a Minor Detail.

Matthew Leahy is back with some more Cannon Fodder previews. This time with the fully enclosed helmet and a spacesuit paint job.

These two are the last of their team fighting methane-breathing techno-Raptors. They most likely won't have time to mutter "Clever girl" before the end.

The spacesuit paint scheme is effective. Is there a picture of the sprue available? I'd like to see the weapon mix.

BTW, I have purchased the Les Grognards Heavy Weapons set, mainly for the other heads and options, and made a mix of figures using all heads for Operation Last Train. There are four troop types in the game which match well to the box contents. Rifles for shooting bonus, and I'm using troops with the Adrian helmets for those, Light Infantry for movement, using the voltigeur shakoes, Grenadiers for close combat, so bearskins for Les Grognards, and finally Heavy Infantry for a saving throws, and I'm using the kepi blanc of the Légion étrangère for legionaires. Of course, some of these figures will find their way into Stargrave when it is released in late April.

Just wanted to say again that I love the Raumjager kit. Just picked up another box, actually.

Very curious to see what leader upgrades they may eventually get.

Is your army led by Ron Pearlman?

Edit: If you don't mind sharing, where is that head from? I need one for, reasons...

What? I think it's good casting. He's got the range for it

Incidentally, the head is a Mad Robot "Sons of Anarchy Chaos" head.

Sweet, I hope they arrive in time to be used in my Ghost Archipelago campaign. Otherwise... Turnip28/SLUDGE will take all sorts of historicals.

What do you think of the Shadokesh Ferals for Iron-Core? The Panzerjägers and Valkir will be coming next but is this a set you would be interested in?

so what do we think, the could stand in for demons, genestealers (or other alien biomorphs), werewolves, or horde style zombies (with a twist)

if they're sold in boxes of 20 do you think they work or would you want something more (sf &/or fantasy weapons maybe?)

They're okay for random sci-fi mooks but eh. They don't inspire me at all.

I just hope those are the first test shots, I am not excited about the center one having a split down the center of the face (if it's two pieces). I could see some nice greenstuff wings between the arms and body like a sugarglider, would give them a more vampiric feel in my eyes.

I like them a lot, and the split in the face is present in all of them, so I think it's a design choice. I actually have seen this before on some aliens in artwork.

I really like the design. The only thing keeping me from auto buying has nothing to do with their design. I won’t be buying any.

The Eisenkern came with enough extra heads and weapons to make them a converter’s dream. If this box came with a similar surplus of heads and claw arms, it would really make converting Stargrave aliens, monsters and mutants much easier.

Great poses, great "look" and they're truly "feral" to me. A horde of ferals charging in/over/through things to kill seems fitting. I'd buy a few boxes.

Those shadowkesh ferals look great, and could be useful for conversions. They'd be an interesting adversary in fantasy, i can see it now: Mounted Sergeant: Saviours toes! What the hell is that thing?
Knight jostling forward on his war horse and snatching a heavy lance from his squire: A REAL LIVE SATAN! Me first!

If the Shadowkesh back vents are a separate piece, and could be swapped out for something more terrestrial looking, and the kit came with some alternative heads it would really explode the usefulness of this kit.

The basic body could be aliens, demons, ghouls, etc. all with just a different head and a different back piece...
