So pikes for everybody and a smattering of halberds, greatswords, swords, muskets, pistols, xbows, and shields of various styles, and about 4 heads per body.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Im definitely picking up some Conquistadors myself. Apparently historical gamers are unhappy with the Conquistador kit because its not historically accurate and uses a mix of costume, armor, and equipment from across an extended timeline and doesn't come with enough of any of it to build out a force with the right mix while maintaining period accuracy.

Is there a list of contents for the sprues?

Last I saw there seemed to be a bit too many handguns, but I thought it was quite versatile myself.

I think they are basing it on preview renders of the sprues or whatever.

Isn’t the idea that every feudal soldier had access to the same contemporary uniform and equipment ...ahistorical? Wouldn’t some of them be wearing hand-me-downs or scrounged armor or the like?
Anyway, for every historical gamer the kit loses it will likely pick up two fantasy gamers.

Sure, but the problem is kind of the other way - a lot of the equipment and costume is too "futuristic" for the Conquistadors, either being late 16th century or 17th century vintage, whereas most of what people would want to use Conquistadors for is early/mid 16th century era. Can't "hand me down" the gear if it wasn't made yet. Also in terms of weapons the kit is apparently very "Eurocentric" while the armor is too light to be used for European conflicts of the era, so theres a mismatch in terms of the gear that makes it inappropriate for use both within the context of time and place (I guess).

Looks pretty much the same, but they appear to have found space, with the extra half sprue, to add a 6th body.

Just noticed that it doesn't look like theres enough Morion helmets to outfit the entire kit with them (neither in that render nor on the sprue diagram from what I can tell) - LAME!

Facebook. Some historical poster just put up another “I’m out” post and it got dozens of replies. Then someone proposed adding female options to the ogre sprue and that exploded. If you like the taste of salty tears, WGA’s Facebook is delicious.

I mean, i'd be against adding female bodies to any Landsknecht kit purely on the basis that there weren't any female Landsknecht.

I think my favourite salty comment from Facebook might be the passive-agressive one talking about how they hope WGA will be able to recoup their losses, it takes a certain amount of repressed spite to write that

But the kit is Ogre Landsknecht, not Female Ogre Landsknecht. Which, means they differ from actual Landsknecht in the fact they're Ogres. Not in the fact they're female.

Female landsknecht would actually be very useful kit for all the Cities of Sigmar players.

I haven’t seen any primary sources that state ogresses were forbidden from fighting or fashion.

I wonder, if Atlantic announced none of their Ogre Llandsknecht would actually have any limbs and would just hold their weaponry with their teeth, and someone went "wait a second but Landsknechts weren't all quadruple amputees" would you also reply with "but Landsknechts weren't ogres either"?

Don' you see the fault in your logic when you are comparing quadruple amputees with females?

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I see no fault in my logic, it's a perfectly simple and straightforward application of "well they weren't Ogres neither" line of thinking.

If
"Since Landsknecht were neither Female or Ogres, then if you're making Ogre Landsknecht, it's perfectly reasonable to make them Female too."
then
"Sinde Landsknecht were neither Quadruple Amputees or Ogres, then if you're making Ogre Landsknecht, it's perfectly reasonable to make them Quadruple Amputees too"
and
"Since Landsknecht were neither Female or On Fire most of the time, then if you're making Female Landsknecht, it's perfectly reasonable to make it so they're all on fire too."
or even
"Since Landsknecht were neither Ogres or Undead, then if you're making Ogre Landsknecht, it's perfectly reasonable to make is so they're Undead too."

Most fantasy manufacturers these days make their ranges more gender egalitarian. Ogres are fantasy, not historical, and the fantasy market has different ideas on gender.

Adding in females would make the set less interesting to me.

As for female ogre Landsknecht, I feel that just makes the kit even more niche. Personally, adding in ahistorical female Landsknecht is a degree further removed from reality (and thus my interest). Moving the species into the fantasy column, while keeping the costume, armor, and gender in the historical column reduces the mental gap I have to hurtle to suspend my disbelief. Basically, there are degrees to the level of fantasy. Stormcast would be out of place in Conan's low fantasy hyborea where even cosmic horrors bleed and feel the bite of steel.

I prefer lower fantasy.

So, women (outside of the proverbial household) is more high fantasy than Ogres with nice clothes?

Equating wanting 50% of the population represented on sprue with your 0.001% complete strawman requires special kind of blinkers.

Especially seeing the ogre reply was on point, by your 'logic' WGA should make the quadruple amputee set instead of ogre one as the number of former outweighs the number of the latter by infinity to zero ratio.

And on a side note, you're most likely wrong, seeing Landsknecht army trains did include their families and women, and we know the camp followers took part in defensive battles when the camp site was attacked, most likely using equipment of their past fallen that was on hand. So while 'technically' we don't know of any full time female Landsknechts women armed and clothed like them existed and fought with near certainty, if only on temporary basis.

So make one body female, the "there were no female Landsknecht" crowd will have to buy more boxes. Win, win!

I'll have you know I've seen several women outside their homestead just today and I've never seen an Ogre.

Conclusion: Ogres aren't allowed outside

Except we're not talking about today and the activity of being outside.

Except i also know you know both of these things and are resulting to this 'argument' due to a lack of actual ones.

It’s worse than that. Consensus is that the bodies, in armor and frilly clothes, can pull double duty. It’s the addition of a couple of optional female ogre heads that is the problem.

Two female ogre heads would be taking valuable space from manly arquebuses!
