I'm more excited about what looks like another female camp follower than the shoe.

But hey, gangster shoe + tommy gun from previous reveal = potential Call of Cthulhu goodness.

Roaring 20s Chicago mob wars. Snap brim fedoras and pinstripe suits. Al "Scarface" Capone, George "Bugs" Moran, and the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre. Elliot Ness and the Untouchables. And since this is WGA, sci-fi is never far away, "A Piece of the Action."

Sorta expected Great Escape Games to do gangsters after cowboys since they have a 1920s game using the same engine as their wild west game. Looks like WGA will beat them to it.

I am more puzzled by the pseudo-roman... the muscle cuirass was very rare and only worn by officers and not with those shoulder guards. Those are part of the lorica segmentata. Then it looks like he has some forearm armour. Never seen that on any roman... so... some fantasy figure? Or space romans? Those would fit the death fields well.
And you could paint them blue...

Despite taking Flinty's and Kid Kyoto's advice, my pictures are still poor quality, thus the spoilers. They are of the Cannon Fodder converted with Victoria Miniatures Close Combat arms, a not Death Korps of Krieg converted from Les Grognards and a Mad Robot Stahlhelm head, and "Diamonds are Forever" minions straight from the Cannon Fodder box. Two Stargrave alien heads were also used for the close combat Penal Legion. Some of the new Army Painter Speedpaints were used in painting them, but with the fuzziness the contrast is lost in the images.

Spoiler:

Close combat Penal Legion convicts made with WGA Cannon Fodder bodies, Victoria Miniatures resin close combat arms, and two Stargrave heads. Other than the lizardman, the orange was Army Painter Speedpaint Fire Giant Orange over a base of Reaper Pale Saffron. The lizardman's skin was Army Painter Speedpaint Orc Skin, and his jumpsuit Speedpaint Fire Giant Orange with an orange ink glaze, as the basic Fire Giant Orange is too dark for my taste. Otherwise I like how it works.

Wargames Atlantic Les Grognard with Mad Robot Miniatures Stahlhelm w/ Skull mask head, and two Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder painted as Bond minions from "Diamonds are Forever." The not-Death Korps was painted with Vallejo Model Color WW2 German Feldgrau (70.830). The minions with Army Painter Speedpaint Highlord Blue and Blood Red, with an orange ink glaze added to the helmets to brighten the base red.

My only disappointment with the gunfighter sprue (I know it's not WGA) is that there are no separate hats so you can put them on aliens and robots to make space cowboys (though can always cut them off spare heads I guess).

If/when we get gangsters there had better be separate hats to make lizard and orc gangsters.

On Facebook they're asking about moderns.

I would love multipart cops, a mix of beat cops and SWAT teams. So useful for all kinds of modern scenarios but no one makes them.

I also put in a vote for generic "private military contractors". With a mix of helmet, gas mask and caps with scruffy beards. That way they can be anything from mercenaries to bodyguards to faceless oppressors.

Same, I think some generic police and PMCs would have a ton of uses across a lot of different games.

WGA has another poll on their webpage… this time looking for interest in modern sets…

https://wargamesatlantic.com/blogs/news/ultra-moderns-near-future-survey?comment=128793247842#comments

Here is what I posted recently on the WGA forum regarding Moderns…

https://wargamesatlantic.com/community/xenforum/topic/73847/what-sets-for-modernsnear-future

Somali pirates immediately come to mind... that said, some great suggestions so far!

Most important, please consider making both genders.

I would like to see more common national units than special ops first. Perhaps adding special ops add-on sprues to enhance the basic national sprues. A contemporary French set could do both standard French as well as FFL as far as marketing.

The current WGA Lizardmen are brilliant but could do with an add-on sprue to enhance their contemporary/sci-fi options as their hands/arms are different from your average human model.

Or if you could deal with the IP issues... “V” invaders, but from the original tv series not the reboot.

Rioters would be brilliant. That is something commonly overlooked but can be used for a lot of other purposes. They can potentially be resistance fighters, common criminals, escaped prisoners, angry merchants, spies/saboteurs, etc etc.

If you have rioters, you need riot cops. They can be pretty generic and make cops from various different nations. Whereas as much as I would love to see regular beat cops, their uniforms are so jurisdictionally distinctive. Being a former Bobby, I would certainly like to see a box of contemporary British Police with an option for the iconic but impractical Custodian helmets. Tasers. Definitely tasers. Flat caps and patrol caps for armed officers. Pepper spray, PR24s, and extendable batons cascos(asps).

Perhaps make riot shields, round and rectangular, with clear plastic? Sell them on their own?

Perhaps a basic patrol officer cop set could later be enhanced with national add on sprues for specific equipment and headgear? ie Smokey the Bear hats for NY State Troopers and Mounties. Eight point hats for NYPD. Stetsons for Walking Dead County Sheriffs deputies. Etc etc.

SWAT can usually just be national combat troops painted in police colors.

How about a series of setsof emergency services paramedics, firefighters, doctors, and nurses? What about scientists (both sane and insane) as well as more mundane technical engineers? Road service crews in high vis vests and hard hats. Evil supervillain secret hideout minion workers.

Civilians of all kinds work well for all the Post Apoc skirmish games and many can be easily converted for other time periods, so sci-fi as well as WW2.

Teaming up with the Zona Alfa author to make a line of minis, including monsters and scatter terrain, to suit that game might be profitable.

Cartels is a good idea. Lots of potential for repurposing, like the rioters.

Pretty niche but iconic (meaning stereotypical) American hunters/farmers/fisherfolk would be neat. Limited use perhaps, such as post apoc but it is something not commonly available from others. Really would work best if marketed with a game, similar to what WGA is doing with 0200 Hours and Blood & Plunder: Raise the Black. (I am keen to see how well the WGA Aztecs kitbash with the upcoming B&P plastic Natives).

I added "Contemporary Trauma Center" which was an idea mentioned earlier in the this thread, and contemporary/near future civilians about their daily business. The idea being that the included sprues would have tools and accessories, and if you wanted to arm them, you'd use bits from other kits or the Death Fields upgrade sprue.

re: alphaecho "I love the Death Fields kits." So do I. They are such a good base for kit-bashing, and since WGA includes so many bits, there's lots of flexibility out of the box. At the moment my faves are Les Grognards and Cannon Fodder.

Nice to see my idea of terrified civilians on the list.

It's an idea I've suggested before, there's a dearth of non-fantasy civilians already and those that are out tend to be standing around, but in most scenarios where terrorists/super villains/zombies/whatever are stomping down main street.

They're going to look more like this

It would have an easy crossover with rioters, a guy running away from the demons screaming is going to look a lot like a guy running towards you with a baseball bat.

So vote early, vote often. I want cops, SWAT, modern generic soldiers (mercenaries/contractors might work best for this) and civilians/rioters.

Voted for civilians and lizard aliens. because i will always vote for lizard aliens,

However, my hopes would be they zero in on doing some fantasy character sprues of 2 or 3 bodies, like what appeared on a recent poll, and has had some chatter on their forums.

And of course any kind of upgrade sprue for the current lizardmen they do.

My difficulty with the poll was limiting myself from checking everything I want to what I want first. The former is "most of that, please". The latter is "things not being offered by other companies or 3D printing."

I think the basic MiB/G-Men/Secret Service suits are woefully under-represented in miniature format, for example.

I did vote for the "suits with guns" too. They are under-represented as you say, and I do need them, although I found some 3d printed ones on Etsy with a CEO. When I actually start a Chrome Hammer Ascension game (solo cyberpunk minis campaign game), I may order them, as well as a few specialist cyberpunk characters. There's a MiB goblin with an assault rifle and cell phone I think is particularly characterful.

Also voted for civilians, and suggested contemporary/near future civilians about their daily business. The included arms would have tools and accessories such as briefcases, cell phones, tennis rackets, coffee mugs etc. If you wanted to arm them, you'd use the Death Fields upgrade sprue or spare bits from another kit. I do agree with Kid Kyoto that a panicked or rioting civilians kit would be easier as a head swap is all that's needed. Panicked humans usually have their eyes and mouths wide open, while angry or hate filled humans have narrowed eyes and either a snarling type mouth, or one that's open for yelling.

Oh, and as people have pointed out here and in the WGA blog, the lizards need a sprue since the boxed set is trying to do too many things at once, and so does them all poorly.

Definitely agree!

Copplestone did some ages ago, but they're more 25mm. Warzone had some nice ones, but I think just 2. And after that I can't think of any.

Suits with guns can be law enforcement, corporate oppressors, bodyguards, mafia/yakuza... Throw in some Terminator style hidden cyborg heads too!
