I had been considering adding a 2K 'possessed' Drukhari force to my Slaanesh 'soup' (link in sig), but I realized that I already lack the motivation to (consistently) work on that project and adding another (big) project wouldn't help. So what's the next best thing?

She'll be painted like my other Heralds, as she is also a Herald of the Violet Heart.

For the Drukhari, I don't know. The entire team is only 9 Warriors and 8 Wyches, so I'm tempted to push the boat out and paint them properly, rather than drybrushing and washing them as I usually do.

I'm leaning towards a white scheme, currently.

White will get tough, that said you will pull it off

I think her with the same scheme will look nicely.

Great theme for a Kill Team, I've been thinking of doing something similar for a small force of Crone Worlders, but as of yet I've got no idea how to go about it. Keep it up!

I've been 'blessed' by Grandpa Nurgle.

The heads work nicely! They've got a real swept back by the wind look.

Yeah, about that. While randomly browsing the GW store I stumbled upon the 'Horrors Paint Bundle'. It sparked something, but I didn't fancy paying $26 plus HST to try it out so I went by Michael's.



Over a white undercoat, L-R, 'Carroburg Crimson' (wash), 'Pink Horror', Emperor's Children (both layers) and then 'Changeling Pink. Then a final, sparse highlight of pure white.

$4.76 for the lot and I also picked up a fine-liner brush; far finer than anything I've ever used before. Honestly it's quite intimidating.

Tiny brushes can be intense. I always worry that i'll ruin them.

That's a nice deal on paints too. I generally use a lot of i guess art paints? For my painting because I already own them and i can't justify spending huge amounts on fancy model paints.

So, Kabalite Warrior 3 suffered a horrific and unfixable torso-slip in between being built and being photographed, so she has been downgraded to my test-mini.


Primed with Army Painter Skeleton Bone. If you view the full-sized pic, you'll be able to see that the prime didn't go on all well and is very 'gritty'.

Thanks. I'm actually not super-happy with how she's working out; she's much, much brighter than I imagined she would be. I think part of the problem is my poor brush control which has led to far less of the previous paints showing than I would have liked and vastly more of the 'Changeling Pink'. Those honking great 'high-beam headlight' tits don't help. When finished, they'll mostly be covered by the Splinter Rifle, though.

Oh well. I'm going to persevere with the original plan, add a white edge highlight tonight or tomorrow and hopefully that'll add some contrast to the 'Changeling Pink' and set it all off rather better.

Have you considered washing actually?

That would cut down on terrible Motor controll and would darken the miniature.

How on earth have I missed this? Then again, I have not browsed Dakka very much during the summer.

As mentioned, I'm not all that happy, but I'm pretty sure I know what went wrong (piss-poor skill, painting for too long with tired eyes and impatience) and how to do better in future (practice, don't paint for as long, don't take shortcuts).

The thing I'm most unhappy about is really that I rushed to get her finished and resorted to drybrushing the final highlight, head, hair and tabards, which this is not supposed to be about.

I'm unhappy also with the level of my painting skill, but this is the first time I've actually tried to paint properly, so expecting great results wasn't realistic. I've got eighteen actual Kabal members to paint so I've got plenty to practice on.

The colour scheme I keep going back and forth on. My original plan was a white scheme, then it shifted to a pink and I've ended up with a pale pink. So...

Not that I want to give the impression that I'm discouraged, or that there was no value in doing this, or anything. Far from it; I learned a lot painting her and I'm eager to apply it to the next mini. I'm really happy with how the wraithbone effect on the Splinter Rifle worked out, too. The gems need to be stronger, but overall I'm ecstatic how that turned out.

Altough i'd still use a dark wash on her

Really dig the scheme, it`s a dedication to pink that even I wasn`t brave enough for in my DE project. Came out real nice for sure though, I especially love the contrast between the armour and the splinter rifle. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the unit.

Test model looks good, will be cracking as an army of pink armor. Bummer about the terribad prime but way to forge ahead
