Lots of people just associate cacti with deserts, I guess. Not that I've spent a whole lot of my life thinking about cacti, but it wasn't until I saw the confusion about cactus men in an North African-style faction that I realized they're only found in the Americas. Can only assume the creators were in the same boat.
yeah, I thought the same thing!
never considered that Cactus were only from deserts in one part of the world. I can understand how it seems weird with the the North African/Middle eastern style halflings (though, let's face it, there's a halfling on a flying carpet with a giant turkey leg, these guys aren't beholden to ANYTHING!!), but then again, Vikings are always rendered with horned helmets, which apparently they never did IRL. I think we can all agree, that AT LEAST all the elven women have super model bods.
Seriously though, I do like TT's stuff. It's unfortunate that Titanforge just recently did their Amazon/Lizardfolk KS as well. I hope next time they focus on just one army. Of course, I think fans are always going to demand a Halfling army every time now.

Obviously we need half sized amazonian jungle lizard women to complete the holy triumvirate of constantly asked for models.
I have both Titan Forge and Tabletop's pledge managers available and have no idea what I want now.
Any Southern California folks want to hop in on a pledge PM me and we can divvy up loot. I know BobtheInquisitor is in.

"North African inspired" perhaps. Elves don't belong in North Africa either...

The Pledge Manager closes tomorrow. https://desert-of-the-dead.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
I didn't see it mentioned, so I don't think this is (quite) thread necromancy.
My wife is in for an Elf Army, while I am in for a Dead Battalion. (I was planning on more, but I needed eye surgery.)

I ended up throwing an extra 300 GBP into it for a full Tomb King army and some Elf units for two piggybacking friends.

Thanks a lot for the warning, there's been a few fires fairly close to my area recently and with all the hassle i completely forgot that the pledge manager was closing.
Ended up spending an extra $280 on the Mercenary army, a few extra elf units and some characters. Shame all the renders weren't ready but i'm still really impressed with how many models they're going to release from this Kickstarter.

I too got the mercenary company. I think those fantasy desert humans should sell really well for them.
I ended up dropping the rpg pledge and just buying a couple boxes of mummy's and skeletons. The elves weren't to my taste, and the halflings aren't either so there was a lot of chaff in the rpg pledge.

I just got a sampler of minis for now. Someday I may buy more, possibly combined with a Dropfleet order for free shipping.
There were a few minis, like the wurms, whose renders changed my mind and convinced me not to buy them. Which made me more hesitant to buy any of their minis based on sketches alone.

"Never buy minis without renders" is solid advice. I unbought some stuff based on renders.

It's why I couldn't commit to their lizard monsters.
Sometimes the art is a lot better than the actual models (Conquest jumps immediately to mind) but that doesn't mean they can't continue to refine things either.
I still wish they'd just done a sampler selection for each of the factions. Just give me one of each model type, be it halfling, undead, monster, or elf. That's all I want.
I know that doesn't get the KS total skyrocketing but I don't have the patience or energy to invest in giant armies any more.

Why did I have to buy a house...? I missed this KS until literally this moment, and six months ago, or in the future, I would've thrown a LOT of money at this.

Bought most of their Elf stuff. By the time I wil actually be able to come and paint them, I imagine AoS will have Malerion and his Dark Elves out and Old World will already be around.

Resisted the urge to throw in last minute add-ons, as the RPG pledge is already 100+ minis... but now that I see more Elf renders, maybe I should have just gotten the battalion instead. The Brigands, Lynx Warriors and Phoenix are amazing!

I added the RPG booster and giant to my RPG pledge. Wanted the character figures too but just couldn't justify the cost at this time as I also had CMoN timemachine this month and next month Conan take 2.

I've definitely spent far too much, but there is lots of appeal for single piece infantry in a mass battle game!
Normally I only by multipose plastic kits, but the backlog is far too great!
For those that missed the Kickstarter, they are doing pre-orders - I assume they won't ship until after KS orders. Not sure if those that have a KS pledge can add pre-orders, I've decided I want the undead halflings I removed :(

They regularly post updates about the project, have started shipping small orders, and plan to ship out all orders within the next two months as I recall.
I doubt they will go to retail before KS backers get theirs.

A small amount of thread necromancy; I've gotten my Kickstarter pledge and have been plugging away at some elves. Overall the casts have been very good, a few bubbles here and there and the odd instance of fill from previous mold tears, easily fixed or ignored. Mold lines are few and small, though diaphanous resin flash is quite common and easy to deal with. Way better than Forge World or Finecast resin. As to the detail, here's a picture of my first 10 elf spears.
One thing I'll note is that these come supplied with square slottabases (I ordered some 25mm rounds as well), but the minis themselves don't have the old-school foot-to-foot tabs and seem designed to be glued directly to the base. This was fine by me because I was making base toppers out of supersculpy anyways, but I thought I'd mention it. These are one piece casts and the minis that aren't don't have a lot of pieces; the cavalry stuff is 4-5 pieces tops.

TT mentioned the issue with the bases - they can't find a supplier for the non-slotta bases that isn't 4-5 times the price of the slotta bases.
I've still not gone through all of my pledge (I must have been one of the last KS backers to get their pledge!)
What I have looked at is great quality, although the flash on some models is huge (although really thin, so should be easy to remove).
Did you use Green Stuff World rolling pins for those bases?

Thanks for the picture, John Prins, they really look awesome painted like this.
Honestly, that was the army I had doubts about how well it would look in their resins - they were looking quite thin, after all, and I was afraid of bending parts because of how TTCombat pack them (in blisters of 20 for halflings, for example).

Yes, there are some thin sheets of flash but they are indeed easy to clean up.
Yes, I used GSW's Egyptian rolling pin to make base toppers.
Bendy spears is indeed the biggest problem, especially with cavalry lances, but I haven't had any issue sorting this out with a hair dryer. As I mentioned, I got fewer issues than FW resins for about 1 GBP per mini, so I'm NOT complaining.
Once I've got a full squad of 20 done I'll start a blog post, this army is massive.
