Collector's Foam & new Teseum Goal

Hello again, backers!

Congratulations, we have managed to unlock the Collector's Foam! Now you can carry your painted miniatures in a comfortable and -above all- safe way. The extra foam works for both the expansion and the Reinforcement Packs.

This reward is available free of charge for the COLLECTOR'S, DELUXE, and PLATINIUM pledges.

At Corvus Belli, we love the little berserker, bundles of joy, known as Taigha Creatures. So we have added a TESEUM GOAL to make your Defiance missions even more epic and immersive. Unlock this GOAL to have these 3 Taighas popping out of the breaches at the most inopportune time!

This unlock will be free with the DELUXE and PLATINIUM pledges.

We also have another video update for you! This time we wanted to focus on the Reinforcements Packs.

What could be next?

See you in the next update!

They’re Tohaa (right one is Spiral Corps, left looks like traditional Tohaa colours, although the gun looks more human so probably still Spiral Corps, as that seems to be the future of Tohaa anyway).

Operation Wildfire enemies unlocked! Also, Revenant expansion is coming!

Hello again, dear backers! We’re here with another Infinity Defiance super update, but this one is very, very special.

First things first: thank you for achieving the present unlock. We’re talking about the Enemy cards that complete the miniatures of Operation Wildfire.

They are the cards and tokens of the Mentor, Shrouded, Kappa, Delta, Epsilon, and Gangbuster.

For those who like fluff, here are some details about the troops appearing in Operation Wildfire, already available for Infinity Defiance thanks to this unlock:

MENTOR SHASVASTII TACTICAL MONITORING COMPANY

Mentors are constantly monitoring the enemy activity as much as their own, looking for flaws and weaknesses in the first, and real and potential threats to the second. The objective of these tactical monitors is two-fold: fundamentally, to provoke the ruin and destruction of the adversary, causing as much fear and damage as possible, but also, faithful to the cautious and preventive mentality of the Shasvastii, preventing the collapse of their strategy and ensuring that it is executed as perfectly as possible. As tactical monitors they will do whatever it takes to maintain control of the battle. For this reason, Mentors are considered an objective of interest, both for military and intelligence purposes, because their level of danger to the adversary is such that it cannot be limited to a single parameter.

THE SHROUDED, SHASVASTII PIONEER CORPS

Shasvastii Pioneers spearhead every invasion by the Continuum Expeditionary Forces. They reconnoiter the enemy, gather information, evaluate potential and actual threats and carry out pre-emptive attacks when appropriate. In times of peace, their job is to locate new sites for future colonies of the Shasvastii Continuum. In times of war, they become the stuff of nightmares for enemy intelligence services, devoting their hearts and souls to stirring up trouble and spreading misery. Their combat suits are formed of superimposed fabric layers made out of sensitive bioquantronic textiles covered in mimetic cells. When inactive, the loose-fitting combat suit somewhat resembles a burial shroud, hence the appellation given to them by human troops.

KAPPA UNIT

The Human Sphere is vast and can be a very dangerous place. So, sometimes, upholding the law and protecting the citizens requires a better-prepared and better-equipped type of agent than the average patrolman. It’s on these occasions that the Kappas are deployed on the field. This unit is the core of Bureau Aegis’s paramilitary troops and belongs to O-12’s authorized police force. Kappa Units are this international body’s main peacekeeping troops, the thin blue line keeping us from chaos, which means they often find themselves forced to work in the worst places humanity has ever created.

DELTA UNIT

Honoring the old tradition of the special operations units that have carried this name, the Deltas are O-12’s special commandos in charge of carrying out the most spectacular and risky missions imaginable. This unit is composed of elite assault troopers, specializing in lightning attacks, close quarters battle, counter-terrorism operations, and in extremis rescue missions. Their psychological profile reveals that they are all genuine thrill-seekers who wait for their next mission with such a craving for adrenaline that it makes their job look like it’s nothing more than an extreme sport—the most extreme of all.

EPSILON UNIT

The Epsilons are among the top representatives of the Bureau Aegis, experts in Intelligence and Special Operations, as well as political-military analysts. They feel equally comfortable in the corridors of the Öberhaus in Concilium as they do in the middle of the political intrigue between the great powers. Notwithstanding, when they must carry out military and intervention missions, the Epsilons become commandos that are expert in Search and Destroy operations, asymmetric warfare, and combat control.

From a tactical point of view, the Epsilon troops are extremely effective, versatile, and lethal, and probably one of the most fearsome adversaries you can face on a battlefield as well as in the political arena, and we are not sure which of these two settings is more dangerous.

GANGBUSTERS, SPECIAL CRIME SQUAD

The special agents with the Special Crime Squad (SCS) have been trained to operate from within the most dangerous criminal environments imaginable. They can infiltrate criminal organizations going undercover as intermediaries, hitmen, or any kind of mobster or thug necessary. But the truth is that Gangbusters have earned their nickname for being one of the best elite tactical units of Bureau Aegis. Despite their appearance and their unorthodox methods, these agents have outstanding tactical skills, although this is not surprising: their job requires it. Because, even if crime doesn’t pay, the Gangbusters provide payback, not with silver but with lead, and of a large caliber.

This unlock is available for the OUTCAST expansion and the PLATINUM Pledge.

FAQs REINFORCEMENTS PACKS

We also want to share with you a little FAQ about Reinforcement Packs, we hope it may come handy:

Lately, we have been unlocking a series of Add-ons for Infinity Defiance that we’ve called Reinforcement Packs, and by reading some of your comments we’ve realized you have some questions about them.

This article will be a Reinforcement Pack mini guide.

What kind of content comes with them? Only the miniatures listed.

Do I need to purchase all of them to fully complete the Infinity Defiance game? Not at all. These Reinforcement Packs are add-ons that add some replayability to the game, but they aren’t necessary or indispensable to enjoy the full game experience.

Where can those profiles be found to play in Infinity Defiance? Depending on when they are unlocked, all the Reinforcement Packs’ profile cards may be in the Core (any pledge) box, or in the Outcast expansion box.

-Infinity: Defiance (CORE, COLLECTOR’S, DELUXE, and/or PLATINUM pledge) Onyx Reinforcement Pack and Morat Reinforcement Pack.

-Infinity: Defiance. Outcast (Expansion): PanOceania Reinforcement Pack, ALEPH Reinforcement Pack, Yu Jing Reinforcement Pack, and Nomads Reinforcement Pack.

Why are the profiles apart from the miniatures? The main reason is that we know that many long standing clients of our Infinity line may already have many of the miniatures offered through the Reinforcement Packs. If we had linked profiles and miniatures in the same box, we couldn’t reward our faithful and enthusiastic player base.

Will I be able to play my Infinity armies’ miniatures in Defiance? Some of them, yes - the ones that are part of Reinforcement Packs or have been unlocked during the campaign. Regardless, we’ll continue working towards including more content during the remaining days of the campaign.

How can I play these Reinforcement Packs? Through the campaign’s own updates we’ve been previewing a series of tables (work in process) that substitute the original enemies for those presented in the Reinforcement Packs. We will complete this effort for the definitive version. We’ve also published a video with clues illustrating how the system will work.

Are all Reinforcement Packs the same? Not at all. Just like every Infinity army has their own idiosyncrasies, we strive to have every Pack to have some of that “flavor”.

-Both Onyx and PanOceania have a T.A.G.

-The Morat have a different way to use packs of The Hungries and their ability to explode.

-ALEPH uses the Targeted State and guided ammunition to harass characters.

-Yu Jing focuses in defense and CC combat.

-For Nomads, hacking will play a pivotal role.

Will there be more Reinforcement Packs? Of course, we have many more surprises in store for the campaign.

FINAL SURPRISE: REVENANT

That’s right, we’ve left the best for last. Many of you have realized that a second expansion is coming: Revenant.

This expansion will be unlocked as an add-on when we hit the 780K€ mark, for 45€.

But, HEAR US OUT, if we manage to hit the 850K€ mark, the REVENANT expansion will come for FREE for the PLATINUM pledge.

Yes, you read that right, for free! That’s why we need to get to every corner of the world, so that everyone learns that INFINITY DEFIANCE is here and that it’s the coolest Dungeon Crawler in the Human Sphere.

Share the campaign and together we’ll manage to unlock REVENANT.

And we still have a lot of awesome stuff to unlock. We’re in for 9 days of pure adrenaline!

See you on the next update!

This doesn't seem well thought out. What if the reason we reach 850K€ is because of everybody adding the Revenant expansion to their pledge, and then when it becomes free, they just drop it back down to a Platinum pledge?

I suspect CB is hoping that's not what happens and instead just entices people with a base pledge to move up to Platinum.

At this time, there's 149 core backers, 309 collector's backers, 765 deluxe backers, and 1,978 platinum backers. Every platinum backer will want the new expansion, and everybody under that has already decided they are okay with not getting everything. Those core pledgers aren't going to be doing the heavy lifting getting us another 100k.

I don't think we'll hit the free tier, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Yeah, that would be a core pledge, and then add 70 euros for the expansion. In the pledge manager after the campaign you allocate what the extra money goes to.

Maybe, maybe they expect more people to upgrade in Platinum and get it for free, maybe they expect people who added the money will have more money to add something else from the add ons or keep them for the shipping charges later on.

In any case

Three new tiles! For free!

This unlock is available for the OUTCAST expansion and the PLATINUM Pledge.

REVENANT:

Years have passed since the crew of the Defiance returned from their voyage through the Archeron wormhole. Having had their official records re-instated, and any slander’s expunged, they now work as free agents and soldiers of fortune under their very own mercenary brand: Revenant Mobile Intervention Force. Allied with a motley group of collaborators, including an impetuous Morat renegade called Kendriat, and a Tohaa operator with unsettling abilities known as Jaan Staar.

The MIF (Mobile Intervention Force) earns its namesake from the newly re-titled Revenant. The infamous ship, formally known as the Defiance, the first-ever human ship to reach Combined Army space and return to tell the tale.

Now embroiled in what some would call a “shady deal”, the crew of the Revenant will face off against John Hackwood and the prestigious White Company...

This expansion includes:

4 new heroes:

· JAAN STAAR, KIUUTAN IMPOSTER

· KENDRAT, KRAKOT RENEGADE

· JOHN HAWKWOOD, MERCENARY OFFICER

· VALERYA GROMOZ

6 new Tiles

6 Missions

Handbook

200 Cards

Remember! If we manage to hit the 850K€ mark, the REVENANT expansion will come for FREE for the PLATINUM pledge.

Years? What's the timeline for this story. Are they really going to jump way ahead of the main game or is N4 also going to jump way past N3's timeline?

That's a good question. It's worth noting that the expected ship date of Defiance is a month before GenCon, when N4 (or possibly Code One) will almost certainly launch.

Riverside, CA USA

The first few missions of the Paradiso campaign happened "years ago" in the setting and there's been a few different pushes into Paradiso by the Combined. Defiance could have taken place in the past and Revenant in the present, although that's far less interesting than actually jumping the story ahead a bit.

I remember rumors about the original story for Infinity jumping ahead in 3 stages, with the second stage being a few years in the future with the human sphere devastated by the Combined Army when they show up in their full might, but that plan was scrapped (or at least on hold) after the game's popularity blew up in late N2 and N3. Maybe they're finally getting around to doing that story arc, or some variation on that.

Pure speculation based on secondhand rumors BTW, this could be very different from what actually happens.

Revenant is here!

Thank you, everyone!

We have managed to unlock Revenant!

What is Revenant?

Revenant is an expansion that continues the narrative of Infinity Defiance and Outcast.

What does Revenant include?

2 new heroes (2 high-quality metal miniatures) Jaan Staar, Kiutan Imposter, and Kendrat, Krakot Renegade.
2 alternative heroes (2 high-quality metal miniatures) Valerya Gromoz and John Hawkwood.
6 double-sided tiles. Use these to configure new board layouts.
6 epic new missions.
More than 200 cards: new enemies, new specialties, new weapons ...

Could I play Revenant without the Core game?

No, to play the expansion it is necessary to have the Infinity Defiance Core.

Can you play Revenant without the Outcast expansion?

It is not necessary, but it is highly recommended since it is so much more immersive to continue with the established narrative.

Revenant is an Add-on that is priced at € 45.

But, remember, if we reach 850k it will be unlocked for free for the PLATINUM pledges. Please share the campaign with your friends on social media!

With the expansion, we have also unlocked two new Reinforcements Packs: Ariadna and JSA.

The Ariadna Reinforcement Pack includes the following high-quality metal miniatures:

1 Vassily (T2 Marksman Rifle)
1 Frontovik Engineer (Ligth Rocket Launcher)
1 Frontovik (Molotok)
1 Frontovik (Heavy Rocket Launcher)
1 Veteran Kazak (AP Rifle)
1 Veteran Kazak (AP HMG)
2 Dog-warior (2 Chain Rifles)

The JSA Reinforcement Pack includes the following high-quality metal miniatures:

1 Yuriko Oda (Combi Rifle)
1 Oniwaban (Monofilament CCW)
1 Ninja (Tactical Bow)
1 Ninja Hacker (Shock CCW)
1 Tanko (Flammenspeer)
1 Tanko (Missile Launcher)
1 Tanko (Blitzen)
1 Daiykai (AP CCW)
Ariadna and JSA cards and tokens are included in the Revenant expansion. Remember the Reinforcements Packs only has miniatures.

What’s coming next?

See you in the next update!

That JSA pack looks pretty good. After splitting off from Yu Jing, having the ninja with the tactical bow unique to Operation Red Veil felt kind of unfair to JSA players. And getting a character from Dire Foes 3 - at least they are splitting models off from boxes that aren't JSA specific.

Gathering the Informations.

They were told from the outset that it was a poor choice, even before JSA split off from YJ.

YJ had, much like Ariadna, very clean delineations between units and their parent Sectorials. Ninjas blurred those lines however, and the fact that they chose not to update the sculpts instead just repackaging older ones showed where their concern lay.

This isn’t any less unfair. You need to buy the core game to get the expansion boxes, so it’s hardly an easier way to get it.

Well, it is a Defiance kickstarter, not an Infinity kickstarter. I think they might be afraid that if they made the core game optional, they'd have a lot of people pledging just for the discounted Infinity models rather than the new models that required additional cost and time to design. That would result in them losing money, not making it.

I'd like the ninja with the tactical bow to be released separately, myself. It's one of my favorite models in Infinity, and even though I already have one, I wouldn't mind a second one.

I'm kind of shocked. None of the player characters really strike my fancy except for Spector. Kinda hope they do a Perseus to go into the game, and drop rules for Sr. Massacre.

Otherwise, I might proxy the Nomad hacker, Jazz, with a Puppetmaster.
