Subject: The 2020 Infinity News and Rumors thread -- N4, C1 and everything else
Your wild speculation was more or less on point. Cutter always felt like more of a spec ops TAG to me whereas Uhland, and Tikbalang, I suppose felt more like just basic workhorse TAGs. If the idea of C1 is to cut out a lot of the rules bloat and keep things simple, a simple straightforward TAG feels like the best way to go. Plus it would improve availability of both TAGs outside of a pair of defunct factions/MOs.
And in my poorly reasoned, unscientific opinion, a smaller scale game ought to use smaller TAGs.

It is. The Hospitallers have been using "Brothers of Justice" as the term for Father-Officers that had medical skills before, so it looks like this is the retcon to bring female Knights in.

Automatically Appended Next Post: I like CB - and Infinity - a lot.
CB does a lot of things that annoy me, and CB does a lot of things that are really cool.
One of them is this:
Liang Kai Wandering Shaolin Monk on sale through distributors and stores
Given the current circumstances arising from the health crisis COVID.19, we have decided to give our distributors and stores access to our exclusive miniature "Liang Kai Wandering Shaolin Monk" We understand that we are living in a historic moment and that now more than ever we need to support our distribution network and shops.
If you have already placed your order in our online store, but you would like to cancel it, to place the order in your local hobby store, please contact us and we will indicate the steps you must follow.
Thank you!
Well done CB!

Stock-keeping unit - it's a retail term for individual items in a product line.
Each individual box is a SKU, as is each blister/clamshell etc.
Infinity has a *lot*, largely through many years of slightly undirected releases (rather than clearly planning everything out)

Oh, thought it was a specific Infinity term (there are a bunch of abbreviations in this game, too many to keep track of).
I don't play Infinity (yet, was hoping Code One could change that) but I have noticed that just looking through the products that there is a lot, and nothing makes sense. The names are all so confusing and all the sectorials just make it worse.
Alpharius? Never heard of him.

Yeah, that was one of the more appealing things about Code One for me. I was disappointed in the demo game that was just a 3D rendered 3 point battle that didn't show any changes from the regular rule set. Hopefully they come out with a proper game soon.

What LOF markings should be present? Maybe if feedback is given early in the campaign they can be added to the design?
Spoiler:
Look at the side and front. These are the 'new' Infinity bases, where there's markers to delineate the front arc.
They're actually fairly annoying since CB hasn't really accounted for how they set up the 'bars' on some of the models and the like.
Thanks Kan - I hadn't spotted those before.
If they're working with CB on these bases, maybe the final production ones will have those markers on there? As I said, though, definitely something to ask about when the campaign starts.

I think adding arc markers to the scenic bases would be not be for the best overall. I suspect most people who like having arcs marked are used to marking the arcs themselves and wouldn't find it too difficult. Meanwhile having to remove molded arc marks would annoy people who don't want them and/or are using the bases for games that don't use arcs. Also they could be irritating even for people who DO want arc markers, as they might not line up with how you want to put a specific model on a specific base.

Interesting. I've been out of the loop rules-wise, but I wonder if they're going to give them new rules/equipment options to set them apart more from the Zuyong? Last time I really looked at the rules, there wasn't much to separate the two units.

That is a big problem with Yu Jing - a lot of their HI are very samey. Wu Ming, Shang Ji and Zuyong are all basically the same vanilla HI unit with slightly different stats and different weapon options. I really hope CB takes this opportunity to really drill down and give each one a very unique identity.

Kanluwen wrote: It's a big problem with heavy infantry in general, not exclusively Yu Jing.
Very fair. I just happen to notice it more in Yu Jing for some reason.
At least the new Jujak Regiment Korean Shock Infantry unit has a 6-2 move which differentiates him from the other vanilla HI.
All HI seem to have 6-2 move in Code One (and presumably N4). All the HI in Kaldstrom have it, and if something as basic as Orcs have it, it’s probably universal.

Oh super interesting. I had not noticed!
Whelp, I guess we will have to wait until N4 to see if they have come up with a way to differentiate all the HI

Since I have nothing but free time now, I wanted to actually test this as it stands right now in Infinity Army. The results are actually kinda surprising.
PanO: 14 Heavy Infantry(technically 15 since Joan's in there twice), or 11 without characters. Yu Jing: 18 Heavy Infantry, down to 14 without characters--and down to 13 if you remember that the Su-Jian is a weird Remote Presence Heavy Infantry unit. Ariadna: 8 Heavy Infantry, down to 7 if you don't count the Mirage Team and down to 5 if you don't include the Ratnik or Blackjack. Haqqislam: 6 Heavy Infantry, with two variations of Janissaries. Nomads: 5 Heavy Infantry, but Army will tell you 6 because the ejected Iguana Operator is a Heavy Infantry too. Combined Army: 5, 4 without characters(Sheskiin is heavy infantry). ALEPH: 6(two Achilles profiles brings it to 7), down to 3 without characters. Tohaa: 3, down to 2 without Neema Sataar. JSA: 6, down to 5 without Takeshi 'Neko' Oyama. O-12: 3.
Yu Jing's claim to "the most" isn't as tight as you might think!

About what I'd expect, PanO has a lot of different Knight Orders that are HI. Many are still older scrawney models that don't look like modern HI, but it's mostly very slight differences in helmets and tabards/coats that could be represented by existing models painted in appropriate livery. I would love to see more bare armored HI for PanO, too much of it looks like Black Templars cosplayers and now even the my beloved ORCs are getting coats and sweaters /rolleyes

The last N3 operation box had bases with arc marks on them, I’m not sure what the overall feedback ended up being. It was a bit unusual of a style (raised triangle marks)...

Yeah, it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the Knights. Nothing Knightly about the logo, Scandinavian inspired name with no mention of Knight or anything similar.

The LOF markings on the bases would be much nicer if they were inset, rather than what they are, raised. I'd like to have seen CB go to flat sided bases, rather than sloping sided, since they are easier to pick up and provide a little more surface area on the top, which given the sculptors's continuing inability to keep the model's on the bases -- e.g. the new KOJ -- would be a good thing.
Those secret weapon bases look to be more flat side. I'm certain the kickstarter will do well.
