Subject: The First Official Warhammer Airbrush Painting Guide!
There’s no one “right” way to paint your Warhammer. Over the past few years, we’ve worked to give you the tools and choices you need to paint your models, your way. While we’ve offered special airbrush versions of several of our paints for a while – and Air Caste Thinner for making your own – we’ve never made an airbrush painting tutorial. Time to fix that!
We’ve enlisted our friend Caleb Wissenbeck to lend a hand in making five new tutorials specially for airbrush painters! Whether you’re looking to get the most out of your airbrush, or you’ve always been curious to try but never knew what to do with one, Caleb’s videos will be invaluable.
That’s not all! Next week, we’ll be bringing you a bevy of new-format painting videos for painters of all levels. To compliment our Contrast and Classic painting guides, we’ll be giving you a variety of tips and tricks, covering much-requested elements like capes, power weapons, special effects and more.
Keep an eye out for more videos – and check out all of Caleb’s airbrush tutorials on the Citadel Colour website.

I will be interested to see how they they cover all the variables of the airbrush process.
Seeing the guy try to pour straight into the airbrush cup with one of their pots was giving me a bad feeling...
Personally, I'm interested in seeing what they mean by a "... bevy of new-format painting videos..." and if it's the end of their current 'Battle Ready' tutorials.

We can only hope. I get their logic with Battle Ready - encourage people to slap a few colours on their models, maybe subtly showing that even good painters models look poor without highlights and away you go. The problem is that Warhammer TV's appeal came from having good tutorials with good results that most people could follow without anymore than the most basic painting knowledge (if that). You can watch Duncan - and now Peachy - paint up something like Cadians all the way up to Abbadon and think "Huh, that doesn't look too hard, maybe even I could do that?" Battle Ready doesn't do that because they're just so basic that even the most novice painter can probably figure out "put the blue paint where the boxart has blue." Even if I don't really use their videos, I still enjoyed following them along until Battle Ready became the norm.

They probably had to kidnap the children of the sales team to get away with it, but I suppose there's only so many "Uhhh, hi I picked this paint up but it was the Air version?" returns before they figure they might as well make some money on their dedicated airbrush paints.

I'm a little concerned it's more "bye Duncan"...

At least they are using a proper airbrush and not that insane flamer looking thing.
Wait what? reds had cadmium in them? is it all reds?
From the article above, if any it’s a minute amount at most -likely only dangerous if you’re not ventilating the paint area or licking the brush tips (which is a bad idea anyways, either way).
Course, there’s no telling how many brain cells I’ve killed while using Testor’s model cement in enclosed places, so ...

They got the right guy for the job.
Yes. In the video it shows his name with 'CK Studios' beneath that.

That paint is never going to spray through the nozzle of an airbrush, unless its 1mm, at 100 psi. Its a lie that GW airbrush paints can be used without thinning, i have used them.

I'll reserve judgement until I see the actual guide and not B-roll in a trailer. I have heard from others that in CK Studios classes mixing in the cup is verboten, at least for the starting-out painters (obviously experienced people do it, but they're experienced).
CK Studios did do an interview with the Independent Characters in episode 197 where they described teaching classes for GW staff for a few days at Warhammer World (when these were undoubtedly filmed) which was reasonably interesting.

I have never worn a mask or respirator when ABing. The one exception being lacquers since I don't want to be flying high when painting those.
For acrylics you only need a paper dust mask like carpenters use.
On a side note those paints do look kinda thick right out of the pot. Perhaps for a .5mm AB shooting at 35-40 psi is probably doable but they don't look like they would spray too well out of a .2 or .15mm AB pushing 20psi.

Ok, not just safety, but also, where is the yknow, stuff about setting up an airbrush, right Psi to use, needle size.
If this is meant for begginners, they have to go look into all this other stuff first, then come back to GW, just too learn that yes....you can indeed basecoat

Think of it more on HOW to use THEIR product, not so much how to use an airbrush.
The video was a wee bit... light for a zenithal technique but baby steps right?
We may see more when GW releases "Heavy Metal Painter's Mask" / "HMPM (tm)" and their "Air Brush Caste'er" / "ABC (tm)".
I really should not throw too much "shade" at them: these videos are FAR better than the one and only message of "buy our stuff for reasons" back in the Kirby management years.

I trust Caleb to do this well. Shame he's a little stiff reading a script but everything I've heard about CK Studios has been good. Very excited for the more in-depth videos!
I'm sure we'll eventually get a 15 minute whole-model video

Basic paper dust masks aren't meant to filter out acrylic paint particles from the air. They're great for particulates like saw dust (if they fit correctly, which most don't), which range from 30-500 microns in size, but paint particles can be as small as 3-10 microns. In the US at least, paper dust masks don't have a NIOSH rating as they are not considered sufficient PPE for any task that requires protection against vapors or particulates. An N99-rated dust mask is considered bare minimum, but a respirator with particulate/organic vapor filter will provide a better fit and is suitable for VOCs as well.
This still applies even if using a powered spray booth, as most commercially available hobby spray booths do not have the airflow to catch all the paint.
You're free to use whatever level of PPE you want for your hobbies, but people new to airbrushing should be aware that a paper dust mask is not considered adequate protection against acrylics.

I took the CK Studios Airbrush 101 class taught by Caleb over a two day period with a couple of friends. It was some of the best hobby dollars I've spent. I haven't had the chance to watch the new GW videos yet, but they've absolutely tapped the right person.
I can also confirm that Caleb had us use some GW glazes in class and we poured them directly from the goofy GW pot. Generally speaking, if we mixed paints, we'd do it in a small cup. As part of the class, I bought a full set of Badger Minitaire paints, designed for airbrushing. I use those exclusively now. The only other thing that hits the airbrush is Vallejo airbrush primer and various inks.

So far it seems the video's have been more about sharing an overview of concepts presented in a very brief fashion, i.e almost blink and you miss it. Just doesn't seem to be enough "meat" to it.
Also that shot of him pouring from the pot in the cup is painful. I can't believe that is the air brush version as mine are not gloppy and thick out of the pot like that.
Hope there is more to come.
As for the CK Studio class, heard nothing but great things. In fact wasn't it mentioned that they actually were invited by GW to come out and do a class for GW's studio painters?
Regardless, keeping an eye out for another 101 class in Houston.
