Just make sure you’re not in the red light district when you ask for the Kyoto Special, assuming miniatures are all you’re after.

And here I thought Kyoto pattern was an Inquisitor with a psycannon and servitors with heavy bolters...

As for Reaper's 12 days of Christmas, Santa will put putting a few things in everyone's stocking this year (and maybe more than that in mine)

Still have that squad in a box somewhere. Maybe one day when the rules come around again.

Which one is Mrs Paul?

(Also werefish curse is known as MrsPaulanthropy. This according to Phil Foglio of Phil & Dixie fame.

A comic strip that appeared in the old TSR era Dragon Magazine)

Trying out the Reaper Master Series paints now. Thick but thin nicely without breaking. Also Made in the USA, major selling point for me.

Hah. I absolutely love the depth of Reaper's catalog. I am going to have to pay the factory a visit one day as they are only about four hours away from where I live now.

If you give them a heads up (I emailed them a month or so in advance) they may be willing to do one on the fly. I went a couple years ago and Bryan took me for a tour. Pretty neat getting to see the headquarters!

And finally some December releases to round out the year!

The holiday miniatures see a rerelease, including the Dad-joke worthy...

Christmas Carol

Christmas Eve

And Christmas Knight

And y'know, painful puns aside they're all pretty cool figures.

Female ranger as the model of the month.

And the big December release

Baba Yaga's traditional rustic dwelling!

Baba Yaga you may recall is a noted feminist and wiccan practitioner whose native holistic healthcare and innovative solutions for the region's chronic food security issues earned her great attention. Her subversive use of common cooking implements as tools of empowerment and mobility shattered paradigms. She is also noted for her daring mix of organic elements and traditional rural architectural styles.

And if you need the woman herself...

Also covered.

The painting on Christmas Eve is very good.

The chicken legs on the Baba Yaga house frighten and confuse me. They are way too realistic for my liking and it brings back childhood trauma from my life on the farm.

I love that hut! Anyone have a shot with Mr. Sir Forscale? Is that dude in the cage a 28mm human?

That thing looks giant!!

I play...

Sigh.

Who am I kidding? I only paint these days...

Well, its not Sir Forscale, but....

One of Reaper's adventurers, a starter kit Empire State Trooper, and a mildly kitbashed skaven just ahead of, and just behind the legs of the one I got in the kickstarter. Pardon the cobwebs, been sitting on top of my cabinet for a good while. My main complaint is there's a bit much weight to it for the legs--you'd want to find a way to either reinforce them or subtly put some extra support structures in, but its a very cool (and large) model.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Knight are both pretty damn cool. I wonder why they have such better paint jobs than Christmas Carol?

The worst James Bond joke ever applies to Christmas Eve and Christmas Knight, but every evening you can hear Christmas carols arriving from several houses down.

I guess I’m saying the first two require a lot more effort.

Spoilered for underage Dakkites!

Spoiler:
Denise Richards plays nuclear physicist Christmas Jones (because that's what nuclear physicists look like). At the end of the film as they snuggle Bond says...

"I thought Christmas comes just once a year"

As for Bond...

Introducing Bones USA:

https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/94129-bones-usa-new-plastic-line/

Bones Classic was created in 2012 using the best technology we could afford at the time. The results were great and yielded a massive surge in the popularity of collecting and painting miniatures.

However, anything can be improved. When we launched Bones Black in 2019 we used both a newer technology and a different material that yielded a figure that was easier to paint and much stiffer. We listened to you. No more bendy swords!

Now here we are in 2021. Bones USA are thermoplastic injected models using state-of-the-art technology to achieve amazing results.

Coming full circle on a promise we made to the backers of our first Kickstarter, we are now producing miniatures in our factory in Denton, Texas. How can you determine if a model is a Bones USA model? It says USA on the bottom of the base!

Basically they've started up production in Texas of minis and will be redoing some early bones figures with a new polymer mix (this was from a Facebook comment).

Each month there will be a new free mini in orders that will be Bones USA and then the mini will move to general release. First up:

Sounds like they are a new mixture as Reaper responded on a question of priming that people are still figuring that out. But one person on the reaper forums that has one reports they feel like Restic.

I commented in the other thread. Yay! I wonder how much of the line they're making locally.

They're being coy in Facebook about how much will be moved over. Will probably depend on sales, as it is different then Bones Black, and it's a new process for them so they probably really don't know what their full capacity is with the set up they have.

It does sound like they want to move all the old Bones 1 & 2 stuff over to this. Which is fine with me as that plastic was trash.

The Bones 1 version of the figure above is the only human sized Bone 1 figures I painted and I stopped half way though as it was just a bad experience. So I find it kind of funny that she's the first Bones USA figure as it's the one that turned me off to Bones plastic for anything but larger figures.

Reaper paints are made in the USA. 'bout time their Bonesium minis were.

Restic was that a Mantic material, and not so well received? But better received than Finecast™©® ?

Make the minis in the USA and use a better material than what WizKids uses for their Nolzur's line of D&D minis, and I'll buy.

I got some Bones USA models and was the first to write about my impressions on the reaper forum.

Yes, restic was the infamous Mantic (and Privateer Press) material. Basically it's an injection-moulded hard PVC thermoplastic, very similar to "board game plastic" and also the more recent Bones Black. What I call "spuncast resin plastic" is not restic at all, but similar to the material used by, say, Impact! miniatures, It is a mixed resin-compound cast in moulds that spin, similar to moulds for metal models.)

Bones USA are not restic, but they do have IMO the "feel" of spuncast restin plastic. I would like to stress that the Bones USA models are a huge step up from the original bones material, and the material seems to hold the detail almost if not as good as, metal. I have a positive impression of the models and material.

Apparently Bones USA are made in an injection moulded thermoplastic and not spuncast as I first thought.

Thanks. Do you have a link or is it pretty much the same thoughts as posted here? I didn't know if you posted pics there to show the comparable detail for example.

no pics, sorry. The white original bones do not photograph well at all.

This was mostly a "these are my experiences and thoughts" more than a proper review. I did not set out to test the material with different approaches, I just did what I usually do and wrote a piece about my thoughts.

From painting Reaper original Bones, Bones Black, and Reaper Metal, I will say this....

Metal is best, followed closely by Bones Black. Original Bones is pants. That is all.
