We also get a name for the ticks!

One of their most terrifying aspects is their connection to the wasteland Helamites. These deadly insect predators, designated Endomorphs by Imperial scriveners, are seemingly as old as the wastes themselves. Born of the toxic deserts and chem-rich soil, Helamites live in great rubbish-infused mounds, yet the Ash Waste Nomads have somehow managed to tame them – and now ride them into battle.

So who wants to register Helamite.com and Endomorph.com to start the first ever Ash Wastes giant insect fan site?

Cargo 8s aren't really a surprise for a name. They've been mentioned in Gaunt's Ghosts and Eisenhorn for I don't know how long.

It might not look it, but Endomorph is some of the most outrageously bad faux latin they've ever done, particulalry because they clearly meant it to be Entomorph (insect-form) but Endomorph is an actual word meaning the "fatty" human body type and spellchecker did its job when nobody was looking.

There is hope this only happened at the WarCom stage and it's Ento in the product.

I really hope not because those stupid hover Vespas made me so angry I stopped watching the show.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Are we getting Palanite and Palatine all over again? I swear that was just a typo they decided to run with and pass off as deliberate. Mind you, that's arguably the reason you can use more than one re-roll a turn in Blood Bowl these days.

Funny how I keep seeing Boba fett attributed to a setting far older than even star wars itself. Im not talking about necromunda, but the concept of a desert wasteland. it's not an indictment against those who havent been exposed to more varied media than what is literally shoved in front of their faces to consume, but it is definitely indicative of it.

For an over 100 year old example, should you motivate yourself enough to look, is the John Carter of Mars series, (which was also produced by the House of Mouse in your preferred media form) though the words that Edgar Rice Burroughs chooses to use may seem archaic by todays standards, making it for a medium weight read that may require a dictionary on hand for younger readers.

But that's merely one example I urge you, kind reader, to explore. It's a big universe out there, and its a lot bigger than the House of Mouse would have you believe.

Its based on Greek essentially meaning "internal shape", although I think you are probably correct that it should be "insect shape". Pretty common linguistic shift though, can see that happening over 40,000 years!

The endomorph word you refer to is actually just as much bullgak and is from a pseudoscience concept that took the endo- prefix from an almost entirely unrelated term in embryology (endoderm).

It's not just the desert wasteland setting, Orlocks don't really have any SW vibe for example. But the cloths and the ramshackle rifles of the faction opposing orlocks do resemble the tusken quite a lot. And their leader also has some sort of stick as main weapon .

As mentioned, we've seen designs going back to 2017 for the Ash Waste Nomads.

There's really only so much you can do for "desert nomads that scavenge things in a hostile environment".

Frankly? I see less of the Tusken Raiders and more of Fear the Walking Dead's most recent season and the scavengers introduced in them...but that's because the idea seems to be less "epic scifi" and more "realistic radiated wasteland".

Query: have you touched grass yet this year? There is a library not too far from where you live. I invite you to smell the vanillin locked between the leaves of their books.

I enjoyed the John Carter movie but I am, relatively, easily pleased.

What I did enjoy more were some of the reviews that accused the John Csrter storyline of being derivative!

The origins of the Ash Waste Nomads are mired in myth and legend. Ancient tales recount how, when the Iron Lords were cast down by the Imperium, the last true citizens of the Araneus Continuity fled from their oppressors into the wastes of their now-blighted world. Some say the nomads are descended from these first people, tormented and changed by the wasteland into the creatures that stalk the wilds today, a hatred of the Imperium and its proxy House Helmawr still fresh in their hearts.

So... I know this is in-universe speculation, but has this come up before? In previous Necromunda lore books and novels?
Because 'secret heirs to the lords of the men of iron' isn't a thread I want to see pulled. Just... let them be people who don't live in the hives. No secret destinies and mysterious tech crap.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

The Ratskins were also rumoured to be descended from pre-Imperial cultures. It's probably easier to believe that the nomads grew into superb survivalists over generations growing up as the world's surface changed rather than being a group of hivers cast out into the hostile wastes who adapted overnight rather than just die in a few days.

The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla laughs at GW's idea of "realistic" wasteland dwellers.

The Iron Lords are not Men of Iron, it's the name of the former pre-Imperial human rulers of the planet Necromunda when it was called Araneus Prime.

Does this mean I can finally use my VS plasma cannon instead of just spamming plasma guns? Never saw a use for it in the old missions but ash wastes seem like a perfect use for it along with the lascannon guy from FW that I haven't gotten around to building yet.
