Holy cow, that reads like the internal monologue of a super-hot lady in a bad novel upon first meeting the author insert character.
"He was a novelist, with all the rugged handsomeness and confidence that came with that esteemed profession. I found my eyes exploring him like a mountaineer exploring a craggy peak. Six foot seven, carved abs visible under his tight t-shirt. A head of hair so full you could swear he was no older than 25, though I knew he was an incredibly verile 57. "Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

Yes, the models are bigger, they're scaled to be about seven feet tall compared to GW's normal humans. Which is the canonical height of a Space Marine. I am asking for a citation to the claim that in the fluff the primaris are supposed to be a head taller than the old marines. From The Regents Shadow, from the POV of a Custodes: His voice was strange. His entire armour was strange. Out of the six of them, four were clearly wearing a familiar style - Mark VIII - while two were in battle plate I had never witnessed before. Those two seemed larger than they should have been, bulked out by close fitting ceramite that had a finer edge to it than usual. The leader stood almost as tall as I did. I found myself instinctively wondering what it would be like to go up against such a warrior, and began assessing his likely capabilities and power. So it was that I laid eyes for the first time on a Primaris Marine. Just a recent example I’ve read of the size of Primaris Marines in the fiction. Why does that read like erotic fan fiction? Is the custodes in that story one of The Fabulous Custodes?

AAE, this is very interesting but also very off-topic. We aren't at a party right now. We are on an internet message board. We aren't talking about ex partners, we are talking about Psychic Awakening, 5 and onward. Can you please take your discussion of parties and ex-partners and boiled eggs and annoying strangers somewhere else? Maybe in the Off Topic section?
Thanks a lot!

Even at a party conversations will drift and tangent naturally over time. So unless you have someone there forcing everyone to talk about only one thing instead of letting the conversation organically flow, it won't stay locked to any one topic.
Also the whole superiority complex needs to go. No one cares how great someone thinks they are just because they started a thread.
More on topic, Monday will clarify if it's Incursors or Wulfen. Chances are the FB post saw some art or a picture of the box and posted thier assumptions about the contents.

In Dark Imperium is always noted that Primaris Marines are bigger than normal marines. They are nearly as tall as Custodes as that fragment points.
Custodes are much bigger than normal marines so that puts Primaris at being noticiably bigger than normal marines. Of course thats justify for them to have "truescale" marine miniatures.

Yeah no that is actually steuctured exactly like a monologue from a romance novel. This isnt just "people being ashamed of and gaking on their hobby." It's just structured the same way.

Contrast person to self.
Talk about an instinctive/emotional reaction.

The books great, and I didn’t catch any eroticism in the context of the novel. But it’s not like there’s never any homo-erotic undertones to interactions between marines, Custodes etc throughout the books. This is hardly the only part of a 40k novel you could pluck out and read in an erotic way, when divorced from the rest of the context.

LMAO is that actually in a BL novel? I think it's more likely that someone really tried to hammer home to the writer that it needs to be frequently mentioned that the nu marines are physically bigger, but those lingering, surprised-yet-intrigued inner monologues that linger and slaver over every physical detail? That's like, beginner erotic fiction. If I picked up a sci-fi novel that wasn't 40k, and this was in the opening chapter, you can bet I'd put it down for fear of what happens after these characters spar in the fighting pits of Sweatymuscleman IV.

I mean, it’s mentioned once, the first time the character sees a Primaris Marine. And the only physical details are ‘huh different armour and as tall as me’.

We kind of know the size comparison thanks to these two pages we got from one of the codices.
It does fit the scaling that we currently have between the new CSM and the primaris.
Would this perhaps put the discussion to some rest?

It's really the writing style. When you're writing about looking over someone's body and considering the power, that's total erotic fiction territory. Someone with literary experience should recognize the styling. Maybe the author just couldn't think of another way to put it, but to not acknowledge it seems to ignore the obvious.

Thank you. So Primaris are larger than the old marines and almost as large as Custodes. Sounds about right. But 'the head taller' bit isn't there. I'd assume that the new CSM and the Primaris model are appropriately scaled relative to each other and the CSM represent the proper old marine size. So the Primaris are a bit larger, but not massively so.
It reads that the 2 in the strange armour (Gravis I guess) are taler than the other 4 and nearly as tall as the custodes. That doesn't say much about the other 4. But I guess they are not much bigger than normal marines, more like 4-6 inch and not a foot.

Ah, I somehow read MkIV and thought the Custodes is confusing it with MkX as they are so similiar.
But it is still relative. "Nearly as big as myself" for a big person might very well mean 6" shorter. For myself, 6" shorter would be a dwarf
