Eh, not the most egregious nu-marine character pose honestly. I'd find him doing a two-handed swing with the big sword more cool, but they went with a little nod to his "arms jutting out" posing from the old sculpt, which is funny and cute.

New Ghaz was always going to be epic. He's already a huge monster guy, and there's not a lot they can do to feth that up.

However, fairly confident it does mean Warp Spiders are the oldest? Space Wolf characters were from the very tail end of Rogue Trader, Warp Spiders fairly early 2nd Ed.

But Ragnar does look good, he's what Primaris should've been the whole time. Just truescale versions of the classic designs we love. That's also one of the best paintjobs 'Eavy Metal has put out in awhile.

Ragnar retains his Boot Claws, which I’m glad to see.

Based on the models in the bottom photo and rumours of a boxed set, I’m guessing Ragnar and 10 Infiltrators vs Ghaz, 5 Nobz and 3 Meganobz.

Ghazghkull is absolutely incredible. Abaddon-tier release.

Like everything about Ragnar except the whole "leaping off terrain" thing.

Excluding Armour through the Ages Njal (in PA) and the two Jes Goodwin Servitors are as old as Ragnar.

id like for them to cut that the heck out with that in general. it just fowls up all kinds of stuff and just seems less stable. but it looks like they are REALLY into "dynamic" posing now.

Dynamic meaning "we love masonry!"

Yeah, the pose does detract from what is an otherwise phenomenal sculpt. A model as huge as Ghaz should have a certain sense of weight about it, so having him perched on some girders as if he's about to spring off them into his opponent robs the model of the sense of weight. I look at that sculpt and think that a girder like the one he's resting on should buckle or bend under the weight of his bulk and his armor. Hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle to remove that junk.

The boxed set itself is meh. I've got a Space Wolf army as well as Space Orks, so this should in theory appeal to me; but I already have enough Nobz as it stands and the duck-faced Phobos marines have always been mediocre in my opinion. I would have preferred to see a new type of Primaris in the set. Ah well. I'm sure plenty of people will snap this set up and I can at least benefit from an influx of cheap Mega Armored Nobz onto ebay.

I’m not sure on the Servitors? Definitely remember them from 2nd Ed, but memories of RT are hazy,

Also of note. I don't know how the rematch went. But it sounds like the first fight was a dual loss.... Ghaz lost his head, Ragnar lost an arm and had his neck broken.

Would have been better if they would have shelled out the money to have Michael Buffer do the promo

Sounds like Ragnar kept 2CP back for Only in Death Does Duty End

Ghaz's pose is definitely a bit awkward, wonder how much faffing about it will take to get him on level ground.

Still, impressed overall. Not just by the miniatures, but also by the fact that Blackmane somehow managed to decapitate Ghaz? Through all that armour? Not bad.

Fight of the Millenium?

It seems like this "fight" exemplifies the Psychic Awakening campaign book series in that there aren't any real consequences. Apparently, both these main characters suffer figurative off screen deaths that are immediately nullified for the rematch planned before the new figs are previewed? That makes comic book character death tropes look positively permanent in comparison.

At least the figs are nice though. I'll echo the sentinements about GW borrowing FW's habit of perching characters up on plinths/ruins/rocks/whatever that would make a gargoyle cringe. Not everyone needs a booster seat.

Having Ragnar behead Ghaz to explain the scar that allows him to be built facing either way is genius! Well done GW.

Will definitely be picking up that Ghaz to paint, a stunning miniature.
