So Crypt Hunters looks to me like a Lost Patrol reskin...

what i don't understand is why McFarlane's space marine has to be a miniature clone of the bundai one, when it could have been anything else, even a repaint. i kinda predicted in my head that i will be able to have spawn fight a space marine. 500 pounds of necroplasm vs 2000 pounds of ceramite

I loved mcfarlanes conan the barbarian line. They were more mini statues than action figures but that suited me much better. I predict an Eisenhorn figure and I predict it will be gorgeous

Yeah, that's why I was disappointed to see McFarlane attached to this. The stuff looks great in a single pose, which defeats the entire purpose of having articulation in the first place, or like the Halo line, looks great but the joints are so tight and the sculpting so exacting that the articulation just isn't usable for any sort of actual natural looking pose. MacFarlane's stuff is just too reliant on aesthetics instead of making an actual good figure. If I can't put my Marines and Orks in silly poses while displayed fighting my Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, and Mortal Kombat figures, they aren't getting my money.

I was more going for the joke that GW would be trolling people by technically providing something that has been rumored for more than a decade at this point. It was kind of like when they did plastic sisters a few years back, and it was the sisters of silence.

The information from this toy fair was so lame I'd barely call it news. More action figures because for some reason having one Intercessor at that scale isn't enough and expensive repackaging of the SM Heroes line for US customers only. Riveting.

I hope they'll do an ork action figure. I'd just base it and use it as gorkanaut

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Not sure if this warrants its own thread, but Space Marine Adventures is apparently now available at Target as well. 20% off this week too if anyone is interested in picking it up.

It depends what your after. I’m 42 and articulated toys are not really going to rock my boat. On the other hand a nice statue for a hobby room is perfect. toys that have to many joints never look right to me too many joints.

Depends how they’re set up.

With an Astartes, the many joints are easily hidden by the armour. So one can enjoy amazing articulation, without nobblybobblies ruining the line of the figure.

Me? Much as I like Space Maureens, I wouldn’t normally plump for this, as I’d rather say, a Howling Bumshee.

But for the what, £20ish this will likely cost (looking at its market contemporaries) I’ll take one for the team, to help prove the line’s market appeal

I know I am shocked that Games Workshop at the 2020 Toy Fair is just revealing board games and action figures. I mean 2019 gave us board games, Funko Pops and Space Marine Heroes Season 2. While 2018 gave us Bloodbowl Blitz and Space Marine Adventures.

I was sure given that track record that GW was going to announce 9th edition 40k, the complete update to all resin models to plastic, a special hero model for every subfaction (including custom/build-a-subfactions) and a plastic thunderhawk. Oh, and they were dropping the price of all models my at least half. I totally didn't set myself up for disappointment thinking any kind of major reveal was going to happen. I guess nothing worthwhile is coming out 2020. I mean the New York Toy Fair would be the venue that all important reveals would happen for the year right?

Ya know, writing it out; maybe I was expecting to much for the toy fair. Scratch the plastic thunderhawk off my list.

I'm down for the Intercessor, even more if you can make a sgt. The fact they specifically stated there will be more than just Astartes makes me really happy. An Ork Boy, Gaunt, Heretic Astartes...if they just make the basic troop for each faction, Im feeling like stop-motion fun is ahead.

Just thinking about the joints and that.

Barbie dolls have internal joints, covered over by the doll’s ‘skin’.

With no engineering knowledge whatsoever, I’m guessing there are either design reasons, or financial reasons others don’t do that?

they could do it but then they couldnt offer the paint your own. Barbies "skin" wouldnt take paint very well (I think its silicon). Most adult toys (get it) rely on specific range of motion posing, Barbie has a rather limited ROM at the knee and the leg is separate from the torso/pelvis.

I'm guessing the whole thing is predicated on having 2 versions to minimize production costs as much as possible.

Is it confirmed that the McFarlane marine is the same height as the Bandai one? I thought there'd be a difference of at least a few inches between them?

i know the chibi are 2 inches, going by this image that makes the bundai 7 inches. mcfarlane toys are generally 7 inches also, so it is possible

WILD SPECULATION MODE ENGAGE. I HAVE NO INSIDER KNOWLEDGE. THIS IS NOT NEWS NOR RUMOUR.

Wondering if the relationship between GW and Bandai May have gone a bit wrong, hence MacFarlane giving it a whirl?

both figures are more or less coming out at the same time, so they must have been approached at the same time. doesn't it take 2 years of development to produce a finished action figure?

I really don't understand why they're coming out with two action figures of the same subject in the same scale at the same time.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

I just wish they'd do an action figure that is a blood angel or dark angel. I don't really feel like spending the time painting my own, since it's not a game piece. But man they always have to go straight for the ultramarines and it beyond getting old.

It's most likely GW doing the same licence scattershot that they've done with computer games. To GW it doesn't actually "matter" that two toy companies are making marines because its not competing with GW's core market of models. As long as GW is concerned so long as both companies are happy and pay their licence fees everyone wins.

So they can fight to the death. Only the strong survive!
