Huh, what do you know, you're right.

Finally getting around to putting some paint on the vast number of Marauders assembled earlier in the year.

Plan is to spray everything green, do some brown, white and silver on the parts that need it, paint on Quickshade dip which will dull the colors a little.

I might do a test batch of 10 models first.

Most of this will happen after my Kings of War armies are primed and assembled.

Yeah bought the All-in-tier from the vault but there's no terrain pack and the download links don't work (other than the bases pack) - I've sent an email.

On the plus side my pledge arrived yesterday.

My links work - as far as the original STLs did, which is to say it will take me a week again to grab all the files because their server hangs every 15 minutes - and I managed to get Enforcers, it's pretty bad. A mishmash of poorly sorted folders, irregular naming conventions, some unsupported models missing, some sculpts duplicated at different resolutions, etc. And they're using the plastic files (with filled in undercuts). I see on facebook that other factions fared even worse with parts of multi-part vehicles just missing.

I think people underestimate how few people work at Mantic.

They are trying to make their 3D printing stuff a success, but I don't think anyone is able to work on that full time yet.

The good news is that Mantic is good about getting things fixed when problems are brought to their attention.

There's Ronnie, Matt, Dave, that thing that lives in the broom closet, an Alessio drops by every so often.

The Mantic blog has been updated with part one of the staffs army painting for EWP. Some nice work there.

The 2nd Superheavies have been unlocked now.
Figures print nicely, despite several wrong files and the rules seem very self explanatory and easy. I am quite pleased.

I only expect Mantic to drop this like a hot potato after the first wave of releases and never visit again, like many of their games. Warpath, Firefight, Star Saga, were all good games that were neglected as soon as the next project loomed on the horizon...

Eh, as long as the game works I'm not too worried. It will be in good company with GW's old games

There are already several units that have been discussed for several factions, so I expect AT LEAST a "Reinforcements Pack #2" for each faction in 2026. Ronnie has an anti-poker-face, bless him, and says way more than he is supposed to, when interviewed by even the tiniest of outlets. In all seriousness, he's a great guy who I have always had wonderful interactions with.

additional waves only come if sales are high enough to justify continued investment. Otherwise, its another one and done.

to be fair, it is already a 2 wave release and not just 1
and with the full release as STL my guess is that this is going to be the back up solution to continue support

if the sales in plastics aren't there to justify further investment into the physical models, we most likley are going to see STL only releases in future

they have done this already with Armada which got several new fleets now as STL only

PS: and from the mentioned above it is only Star Saga that was a one and done game, but that is the norm for boardgames to hardly ever get a 2nd print run (not just for Mantic)

Warpath got 3 Editions with releases until it was given up and "merged" with Firefight which is in its 2nd Edition now and just got a major rules and points update and currently making the resin models and upgrades available as STL

I wouldn't expect any more HIPS (unless they do another faction) but they can put spincast and printed boosters easily enough, as evidenced by reinforcement packs and superheavies.

A nice way would be a Warpath specific Vault sub-membership, a few quid for 1-2 new units a month cycling through factions?

And when you amass a few units in a faction, you do a little physical box for retailers.

I don't really get the idea of finished games being neglected. Like you can buy 8 different factions for Firefight and even more for Deadzone, loads of terrain, multiple starter sets in production. If there's not a continuous stream of new releases, so what?

Its because people are used to the GW silo of new releases every week and just leaping on the new shiny thing at the expense of the boxes of stuff they bought days before. But, GW are a multi-million pound international corp with probably thousands of staff. There is no way a company of Mantic's size and resources can match it. But, I am glad that they are not able to..

Personally I am happy with periodic releases & rules FAQ if they are needed. Right now I feel like the only thing missing is some Events to get the game rolling in communities. Have seen dozens and of painting and project updates by people on SM so the minis and collections are growing, hopefully someone will take the bull by the horns soon.

I'm loving this news, and game sooooo much. Personally up to 12k points painted, with almost 40k (lol) to go!

Bit of an update from MMF

New terrain files, other 4 armies end of year/January, March 2026 new expansions.

As for whats next?

We already had planned to run a second Frontier for the second wave of armies - so after this one, shortly before the end of the year or in early January, we will put up the next four armies for you. At the same time, we have a whole new selection of Terran to add as well, giving you a lot more files to dive into Epic Warpath with.
Then, aiming for around March 2026, we have the first expansion set that will introduce new miniatures and rules for every army - expanding the game even further!

The whole vault thing is a bit of a mess I think I’ll back on MMF for the next 4 armies it might be a few dollars more expensive but I won’t have to keep emailing support to update my vault files ( in fairness they have been very good at this)

Vault is working okay for me since I figured out Firefox was blocking downloads (which presumably means Mantic has some expired security certificates)

Glad to hear the other 4 will be soon-ish, I am itching to convert some Marauder banner guys for HQ bases like I did for Dorfs

I'm in no rush for additional content tho, haven't played a game yet.

Really interesting to see Jervis Johnson still developing games after leaving GW. Now something of a 'dream team' with him, Alessio Cavatore and Stef Kopinski!
I really enjoyed the previous editions of Dreadball, other than a few balancing issues it was a nice, snappier alternative to Blood Bowl.

The bonehead podcast interview goes in-depth about the game, the main huge rules change is alternating activations, with the idea that dreadball is more analogous to basketball than american football.

Any game with that mechanic attracts my interest, it's the main reason OPR games are my usual go-to, it works especially well when there's an equal number of minis/units on either side so one side can't just activate chaff and leave their heavy hitters until the end.

Stat cards and abilities give it a similar feel to KoW:Champions and there's only 5 minis per team so I'd say it's going for that entry-level game vibe.

Hopefully round bases mean that facing no longer matters, as that would get tricky on hexes with round bases.

This is so weird. Ronnie said on an interview last year(?) that Dreadball died because on the last KS (Extreme?) they released all the teams at once, it came far too late, and so the game was dead on arrival despite being a banger.

So for All Stars they're doing a KS for... all the teams at once.

I'll definitely check it out as the small squads and seemingly smaller board are very appealing.

It will be interesting to me if how having Jervis' name on the game will help pull in players who would previously not step outside the GW sphere.

I know of a few people that tried out Dropship Commander just because Andy Chambers had worked on it, and again now for Konflikt '47, so as much as GW try to pretend otherwise by not crediting their creatives, I think a lot of wargaming fans do care (in the same way boardgame creators become 'household names' with people actively waiting for a new game from a certain person).

Jervis Johnson is a genius, but "sports" board games are not my cup of tea...

I don't think GW are trying to pretend otherwise. I think they are very deliberately not crediting their creatives precisely because they realise that gamers do care who writes what and GW want to avoid employees building a following and then going elsewhere and using that celebrity to sell stuff that GW didn't make.

Well I start following the game just because Cavatore and Johnson are here so I think designers' name matters.
But at the same time I must admit I NEVER liked AoS, especially first edition, and I know Jervis wrote it - as I adore Tuomas Pirinen but I can't stand Trench Crusaders' rules so... I am interested but suspicious ?.
