Ok great, but they didn't say that. Instead they just declared "We're bigger than Jesus!" and expected everyone to take them at their word.
This. Entirely this. They literally waited until the END of what we all thought was the final set of previews to announce they didn't even do half yet! The entire preview was billed as all of what we were gonna be shown at Adepticon when it was announced weeks ago.
If they'd have announced from the get go it would be split up into 4? Cool! The salt wouldn't be near as bad. But 45 minutes ago from when I post this we still didn't know this was going to be even more previews, we were told two previews that together would be the "Biggest previews ever!" Only two. Then suddenly that turns into 4! And an extra week between them!
When they did the first one, they didn't know there was going to be another month. That's the point. I expect what we'll get in the next one is probably what we would have had this time if the shutdown wasn't extended.

This reveal has to be the lamest reveal from GW I have ever seen. The Rangers and Word Bearers are things that are normally revealed by FW in Friday Newsletters, the Sons of Behemat trailer didn't even glimpse a new model. The army box isn't even a preview, just a method of packaging.
So in short we got 2 actual previews. A character that precisely 1 army can use for 40k (and to be honest I think even most SoB players had forgotten about) and a Treeman, which while cool isn't even a new Blood Bowl team.
There isn't even a full new plastic kit. Even if you combined last week's preview with this one it would be one of the weaker ones they have done for a major convention in quite some time.
GW needs to stop hyping these things, had they said "Hey guys we have a couple new things to show you Saturday" I think the vast majority of people wouldn't have expectations for anything major.
She's going to be like an inquisitor, and packaged with Kyganil, so two characters that every imperium army can use. I'm still not super pleased by this, especially because they implied that there would only be two reveals, but let's not spread disinformation.

And many of us agree with that. But they didn't tell us that.
As with everything GW does, this is a fantastic concept (use the current crisis to deliver our big preview, but spread it over several weeks) with a terrible execution (but don't tell anyone that, and talk up each preview as the "biggest preview ever!!!").

As more and more previews go by it seems increasingly clear that they planned to announce 9th edition at Adepticon. Presumably they want to save the announcement until they can have a clear roadmap towards launch. With all the uncertainty around now, it is anyone’s guess when that will be.
The point is the announcement it was being split shouldn't have been done at the END of what we were told was the "Big Preview" - it should've been announced to begin with. Or even at the start of the first preview.

Unrelated. The Harli with Stern is a special character, calls himself Pariah and will be in the Pariah book. His presence doesn't mean Harlis will be involved (and we know they aren't). Just him.

I like the rangers. Like Eomer last week. Looks like LotR gets good models again since they relaunched it via Forge World.
I know people love comic book characters and action poses, but did Stern have to look like that? I don't know if I'd want to add that model to my Sisters army. That pose makes Celestine look pedestrian.
If the treemen were actually good I'd be annoyed now that I just bought Mantic treemen for my Halflings. Luckily that's not the case.
Would have been nice to see the giants, but the trailer was fun and we'll see them soon enough, I guess.
I love that the local equivalent of 50£ is 100€, according to GW. Good for people who want to buy direct from GW I guess, since they don't do discounts outside of premade bundles, but not something that can compete with independent stores or just the actual exchange rate.
I think it would have been good if GW had unambiguously stated ahead of time that they're splitting up the Adepticon preview over the course of a month. Would save us a lot of biggest reveal ever comments and give people a more realistic outlook on what to expect. That bit has been really poorly managed.

Not sure how they swing the rules, but if they keep to the lore, the Harlequin will be kicking around with Ephrael Stern in (presumably) Imperium armies.
I'd be surprised if they'd write the rules for the two to be able to work in Harlequins/Aeldari armies.

35,000 people didn't tune in to see two extras from LotR made into minis.
I'm sure each and every one of those 35000 people tuned in for something completely different. Would you make sure that all 35000 get exactly what they wanted?

The drip feed makes sense if they didn’t describe it as the opposite to generate hype.
As more and more previews go by it seems increasingly clear that they planned to announce 9th edition at Adepticon. Presumably they want to save the announcement until they can have a clear roadmap towards launch. With all the uncertainty around now, it is anyone’s guess when that will be.
9th would either be a nothingburger (8.1 the way everything after 3rd was 3.1, 3.2 ect) or a complete conspiracy theory that they’d reboot the core system again so fast. It would only really mean more than a balance patch for preview purposes if If came with a new starter set, in which case the true preview would be primaris wave 3 and some other (probably power armour) faction getting a little love.

Did I misunderstand or did they say that the Sister is from a different series as well?
So Hammer and Bolter (the anthology series) is in the anime style, but it's not going to have different styles for the different stories. And there's three or four other projects going on alongside the three series that we've heard of (presumably including the Warhammer kids series that we've seen bits done for).

Yeah, you can't tell me they couldn't announce they were splitting it up in the last week at least instead of the END OF THE STUPID PREVIEW! They almost certainly even knew this was happening before Last Week based on the pacing even then.
Even just saying over the week "Hey guys, sorry. I know we said it was going to be over these two weekends, but we've decided to split it up further to help keep you entertained over the weekends and due to our own production begin halted!" would have been fine. Oh, we'd be disappointed even then, but nothing like this. And it's also the fact we have the issue that GW has been awful about hype before, and keeps failing in the hype train, so that makes this even worse. They aren't proving they've learned their lesson and it's making people angry.
But instead, they wait for the end of what we were told was the last preview to go "Hey! We're gonna do two more weeks! After we take a week off!"

EDIT: And other point out, this is all stuff that if it weren't for the Virus we'd have known already last week in one big cool preview many were looking forward to! We were already disappointed about it being split up, and now last second splits up AGAIN.
I think this is a very good way of putting it. If GW said, "Hey guys we are splitting the Adepticon preview over 4 weeks with 4 smaller previews" at the beginning I think everyone would feel a whole lot better about this.
I feel particularly bad for GW's presenters. Doing the reveals with this bad of communication has put them in a really rough spot. The Twitch chats have been super toxic the whole time, and obviously that can't feel very good. People went in expecting big reveals, got very little, and then get told "Well this is only the first half" at the end of the second reveal. People are going to be disappointed, and I know if I were in their spots I would feel like I had done a pretty lousy job (despite that they both did a good job and none of the disappoint really stems from the job they did). They are basically getting sent into a bad situation no matter how you cut it.
Could you imagine Honda sending their rep to the world's biggest auto-show for the big annual reveals and you got told to roll out your reveals day after day for the next four days? Day one you get to show off a new third cupholder in the console, day two a redesigned child safety lock button, day three a button you can use to turn on your turn signals instead of a lever, and day 4 a new aesthetic hub cap? Meanwhile Toyota next to you is showing off their new 100% solar powered electric car that can go 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds, has 1000 mile range and recharges in half an hour (not that their is a hypothetical Toyota in this situation, but past Adepticon previews have certainly felt more like this kind of display).
To make the job of the presenters even more difficult is the fact that a lot of people are experiencing a lot of anxiety, depression, and in many cases just boredom from being isolated and the state of the world with Covid 19, and this is one of the few things they get to look forward to all week. If I were a huge 40k fan and it was my main hobby, and I had been stuck in my house for three to four weeks and couldn't go to work/see my friends and family and I know these are something I would be really bummed by.

But they weren't going to be split at the beginning - GW was hoping to get the factories up and running to be able to ship things May 2nd in their first Corona update!
Now it's going to be mid-June or later. Things have changed fast these last two weeks in the UK.

Indeed, things are changing very quickly. It was only a few weeks ago that the official advice was to wash your hands more. Now the majority of the western world is in lockdown.

I've just gone back and looked - the previews were announced when shops were still open. It was just large gatherings that were starting to be cancelled (without even the Government saying that they had to).
On the 24th they then shut down their factories as the first lockdown order was given saying.
"This means that all our Warhammer and Games Workshop stores will be shut from the 24th March until an initial date of the 14th April."
Today's preview was probably officially cut down to what we got today as of yesterday. Or at least they switched to their contingency plans.
[edit] First preview was also them doing something entirely new with software they've not properly tested live. I'd have been amazed if they had just split things 50/50 rather than keeping the first half a little lighter to give them more scope for dealing with technical difficulties and timing.

The full lockdown was in effect prior to the first preview event. Given the content of the first preview, I'd be very surprised if they didn't know at that point that the Adepticon content would be split over more than 2 previews, even if the exact breakdown wasn't know.
They should've said something before the first preview, and they sure as hell should've mentioned the change in schedule when they posted the stupid article on "How to watch the big preview" yesterday,.

Exactly. And even if they somehow (And they did - the closing was already known then!) - they could've announced in advance. Easily. At some point this week.
As someone else said - a lot of people were looking forward to this. A lot. No wonder we're disappointed! We're stuck at home too. We're not getting to play, and seeing cool new stuff is at least something hobby related to get excited about. We were expecting to know. And knowing things is a big deal, and a big morale booster. I know I was looking forward to this all week because last week's 40k was so sparse. I've been a bit burned out on 40k too, and want something cool to reignite my interest. Sadly, what we've gotten this year so far hasn't been it (Sadly, cool as Gaz is - and he absolutely is! None of my main group plays Orks, so I won't see him on the field. And I get more excited about new stuff for my opponents than for my own armies even! My own armies means more work for me. Opponents mean new cool stuff to play against!) So this is just sucking even more drive out of me.

Yeah the situation keeps changing for GW and they are reacting to it as best they can. It doesn't help that people are being somewhat impatient/greedy even though they know that GW hasn't got the factories running and can't deliver anything.
People have to step back and take al ook at the bigger picture - heck GW isn't even using their on-site resources; its staff at home on webcams (of varying qualities) pulling together what they can likely from material made weeks ago and brought home.
These are not the best of times; these are crazy chaotic times where the legislation and rules and potential fallout keeps moving and shifting and changing.

Twitch chat should cut them some slack, and the vehemence should be aimed at GW via other channels.
Sheesh - people are dying by the thousand and peopel are actually getting upset about this - WTF is wrong with people.

Well, some of it pre-dates Corona by quite a lot.
Harlequins got left out of Vigilus too, and were struggling even back in the day when Endless Poxwalkers, Maelific Lords and Alpha Legion Cultist Rush was the speartip of competitive 40K.
And then you see pampered factions like Chaos get a full Vigilus book on their own, an entire 2.0 Codex, a double-treatment for Psychic Awakening, new models by the bucket every other week, all the while people playing Harlequins wait patiently on the promise / assumption that they would get ... something ... in PA this time.
At the very least, they could've just said last August that PA wouldn't include Deathwatch and Harlequins, but maybe we'll squeeze something into a White Dwarf? Why the deception for month upon months? Where's the "ideal-scenario-upside" to that? I see no way this could ever have not disappointed people, even if Corona never happened.

I almost feel like the Deathwatch and Harlequins thing is turning into the same excuse they use for the Inquisition. "These groups are more suited to a skirmish game than as full armies."

None of this can be levelled at the presenters. It's not their fault. Overread wrote:Yeah the situation keeps changing for GW and they are reacting to it as best they can.
The situation hasn't changed that much that they could have said why the previews were so small. Instead they kept saying that the previews were going to be their biggest ever. So continue whiteknight-ing this all you want, but so much of this salt could have been swept away if they'd just been honest.

Life goes on. People die by the thousand of diseases all the time. Due respect and diligence is important and all, but we certainly don’t need to shut our lives down even more and live in abject misery on childish “starving kids in Africa” logic.
