Compared to Dark Imperium we're getting more models, 61 to 53, no dice, no rulers. Both are all push fit models, come with the core rule book and accompanying smaller books.
That plus the price hikes and such makes me believe it'll be Blood of the Phoenix cost

The prize draw they're doing is for £120, so it'll be whatever price bracket is equivalent to that.
The GW website doesn't let me change countries anymore, so I can't check. I'm guessing it'll be around the AUD$350 mark here (double the UK price + $100 because can't into conversion rates).

Yeah, it's going to be around 200 USD. They said on the site and the stream, that you will save over 50% than buying individually. They can't bump the price up much more than 200 USD to beat that.

Easy to Build isn't necessarily categorized the same as pushfits from GW.

In the $200 range. Maybe $215.
Starter boxes have always been a good deal. And as the entry point of the hobby, they can’t price them -too- high.

Current GBP to USD says 120GBP is $150, we know it will not be that as it is lower than DI.. so I am Going with $175-$200.
Also I am about to go to a FLGS that has mentioned Preorder now, so will tell you all when I get home if I am given the final price.

Being the main starter box (and at present, still the "key" way to get into the game) I think GW will sacrifice their normal "holy crap!" profit styling. For a starter box, I think they'll stick to sub $200...but above the old $160. That being said, with GW lately..no price would surprise me. This is a game where $55 gets you five little plastic figures...and $40 can get you...one, so there's no surprises left to me.
It's not a starter box. This is a limited edition run to celebrate the launch of 9th. They said so in the stream.
When it is gone it is gone.

That’s using real currency conversion rates not GW’s conversion rates. The Arcaeopter I bought last week was £60 but $100. So a £120 boxed set is presumably worth at least $200 in GW math.

Whatever GW categorised it as, it amounts to much the same thing. Virtually no options (maybe a head or two) and no posability without taking a knife to it.
If anything push fit is a more restrictive form of E2B.

I'm going to predict 200 GBP. $400 in Canada. No idea how that shakes out in USD. Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's what I think happened:
New edition and starter set planned for the summer. Then covid shutdown. So GW decides to make up some lost revenue by taking the new starter contents, throwing in a limited edition full art cover rulebook and doing a "launch" set rather than a starter set with the price cranked up.
Maybe they'll come out with the smaller starters like know no fear equivalents later.

I don't think so, all of this stuff has been ready well before COVID.
They are probably just accelerating some of the other releases, and pushing the other stuff out (Like AoS) to make sure the 9th launch was on it's normal schedule.

My wild gamble will be €250. Probably going to buy it anyway, my expenditures have taken a nosedive due to the whole corona-clusterfeth so I can afford a big shiny box and I won't be able to resist adding melee Primaris to my marine collection anyway because I play the choppy chapters ( SW/ WS/ RG). As for the Necrons... well, I've got time enough to start a new army with the biggest part of my social life being flat on it's face until corona is solved (and hot damn do those new Necron models look awesome).

Is this an entry point box tho? No peripherals or tools or components, which GW said was intentional since "you already have them." GW even saying it's for veteran hobbyists...
I'm confused by where 40k is going. Cartoon aesthetic for kids. But a likely overpriced starter box for veteran players.

Right. So you take the limited edition rulebook and the starter set models, all of this stuff being ready well before covid, and you put it in a limited editon box at a higher price rather than a starter. Nothing about what I'm saying requires any product development that wouldn't have happened anyway.
I really hope I'm wrong and it's 120 GBP but the "launch" set, the full art rulebook, the talk about half retail (half retail of one character out of the 10? in the box is 10 GBP) makes me think it'll be higher.

Yah, I saw that after my guess.
If this is indeed a “special edition” and not the new starter, they might try to milk us for a lot more. The followup question is what the next box will look like. I think once we see how the sprues are laid out we might have an idea what can be gut for the general release, both to lower the price point and leave space for dice/rulers, etc.

The way they spoke about it and how it was listed on WarCom indicated a total of half retail, not half retail for just a few items.

So if characters are 20 GBP (half to 10) and units are 30 GBP (half to 15) we are looking at:
captain with shield 10
LT 10
chaplain 10
judiciar 10
bladeguard 15
ancient 10
eradicators 15
assault intercessors 15
outriders 15
overlord 10
royal warden 10
plasmancer 10
skorpek lord 10
destroyers 15
plasmacyte 10
reanimator 15
warriors 15
warriors 15
rulebook 15
= 235 GBP
So if we assume some of the necrons would be 15 GBP at retail and other things here and there are lower, half retail is still 200 GBP / $400 Canadian
