200-250 seems right. They want to incentivize people buying into the new edition. Loosing money on the xbox so you can make money on game sales is what this is. Starter box will be cheap. "Cheap"

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

So if characters are 20 GBP (half to 10) and units are 30 GBP (half to 15) we are looking at:

captain with shield 10
LT 10
chaplain 10
judiciar 10
bladeguard 15
ancient 10
eradicators 15
assault intercessors 15
outriders 15

overlord 10
royal warden 10
plasmancer 10
skorpek lord 10
destroyers 15
plasmacyte 10
reanimator 15
warriors 15
warriors 15

rulebook 15

= 235 GBP

So if we assume some of the necrons would be 15 GBP at retail and other things here and there are lower, half retail is still 200 GBP / $400 Canadian

The Plasmacyte comes with the Skorpekh Destroyers.

Fair on the math, though this is quite a bit more expensive than I was thinking at first glance. Hopefully it's not 300+ USD.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward the $200-250 range myself. A little high, but workable for the contents.

GW's bizarre insistence that's there's some sort of difference between a starter set and a launch set makes no nevermind to me. Just a bizarre internal semantic argument that they decided to make public so people could laugh at them.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

It has little to do with Primaris...and everything to do with dedicated Necron players getting a full army re-sculpt...any Necron player with the funds will be desperate to buy one.

Can confirm. Am Necron player. Already checking around the FLGS to see who wants to buy the Marine sprues.

There's probably twenty Marine players for every Necron player.

True. A ton of people were looking for primaris box half of the dark empire. DG, who got a resculpt too, wasn't that popular.

Sure, but this box is bigger news for Necron players than it is for Space Marine players.

The Space Marine models are new, but they're also....just more Space Marine models. This would be akin to releasing all of the Eldar Aspect Warriors in plastic alongside new plastic tanks and Phoenix Lords....and then some Space Marines. A complete reinvention of a faction is much more important to a gamer than "oh, some more regurgitated power armour units", etc.

You can say the same in reverse too - its just some regurgitated Xenos.

In the end if you like Marines its a great box; if you like Necrons its a great box; if you like both its a freaking awesome box and if you like neither its only interesting for the rulebook.
It's easy for either the Necron or Marine fan sides to downplay the other side; myself I can easily say that the Marine side doesn't interest me, but then that's the same for most of the Marine line. It's not that they are regurgitated or badly designed, its just an aesthetic that I don't like in model form enough to want an army (oddly in video game format I love them).

Gotta figure they are counting the fancy book at their eye bleeding special edition price when calculating the savings.

So they did not have the proper price, but an estimated $250 for the collector's edition.

Based on that I am going with $175 for the base boxed set.

At even $200 I will be buying one and bundling the necrons in it with the necron half of Forgebane for $100.

I can't see them push past £150 - GW was all kinds of cautious about that price on AT and whilst this is core not side, its still a big price point. I think its also a tipping point and they've already seen some backlash with £140 or so on the Eldar boxed set.

GW has to balance the desire for a higher price against the fact that the higher the price goes the fewer who are willing to jump on board. Plus for a new edition part of the early appeal isn't just selling product; its getting enough new people into the new game to push the previous edition out and the new edition (and all its associated future sales of content) in.

Encouraging people to jump in pays GW in the future because if most jump into the new edition tehn that means all those future expansion books and such will more likely sell. The worst for GW would be a new edition that doesn't sell whilst the previous remains running strong (which is broadly sort of nearly what happened with AoS; only that was more complicated).

I live in the states, I’m guessing $200 USD minimum, maybe even more than that. Been asking around the local players if anyone wants to go half on the box.

there is the thing that GW called it a Veteran Player Limited Box Set, therefore I believe they get in with a higher price to test if this sells or not
if it does not sell, removing 2 Characters, add in dice and call it a Starter Set for much lower is possible (a single plastic Heroe costs ~20-30€, removing 2 already allows them to reduce the price by 40-60€ without the need to expalin anything, same with a regular Rulebook if needed) from the set while if it sell well, the price for the starter set will be similar

hence I say 180£/230€/290$

There are 9 characters inside the launch box. Those alone are 270€. Lets say 40€ for 10 necron warriors and 6 scarab bases. Canoptek reanimator 30€, Plasmacyte and skorpekh destroyers 50€, cryptothralls 25€, outriders 50€, assault intercessors 45€, eradicators 40€, bladeguard veterans 40€, BRB 50€. Add all that together, and we get 640€. With 50% savings we will have something around 320€, my guess will be 299€.

Correct. No dice and no rulers.

Core rulebook with a special variant cover, a booklet that details the units contained within the box, and the two armies' models. They also hinted that there's something they couldn't reveal yet(I wouldn't be shocked if it is something terrain related) inside.

Whatever it costs, it'll be well over 30,000 out here.

A limited edition starter set for 9th ed full of new minis from their glossy new promo vid, and rules, including a xeno army that hasn't had any love in over half a decade? GW are going to have learned from that Catachan Commander, and adjusted their prices accordingly, methinks...

ETB tend to be cheaper kits. The ETB Aggressors retail at 20 GBP for example, that seems a reasonable baseline for the bladeguard and eradicators.

I think you are in the right ballpark - I would guess at 180-200 GBP but YMMV.

Right, its ETB. So i guess its gonna be in the 200-250€ range.

Assuming 120£ aka the prize is this set. Then closest ones to that are atm cadian defence force at 110£(140€ or 185$) or fire raptor at 116£(140€ or 175$).

So I'm putting bets on 150€ and 200$.

If the draw prizes are not it then oh dear oh dear.
