I won't have any problem getting one. Or the new elf box for AoS.
I'll walk into my local shop this Thur, tell them what I want, & then wait patiently. They'll come in.

I have a feeling stores in different parts of the world are treated in a different way by GW. For example to get w40k stuff, they wanted our store to order AoS stuff, but no one bought AoS stuff at our store and only 6 people played it. Created problems with getting key units like riptides, eliminators etc.

Stuff also comes late too. I got my PA book on the 25th of Feb, the last day of winter break. And on the 28th they closed all stores.

Oh absolutely. Pretty much it boils down to the more you order the better you get treated.

I think some of these army boxes are a bit cruel, as they do generate hype and *I've got to buy it now* - but to a degree that is just good business. No one ultimately needs warhammer.

I wouldn't be surprised if this sold out immediately - but if that indicated strong demand, I'd be surprised GW didn't print more. There is however a balancing act. You don't want to undermine the individual releases because people are flooding ebay with so many necron warriors, assault Primaris etc.

I think they were experimenting a lot last year with boxes to see what they could and couldn't do.

Some boxes stayed around for a long time while others got gobbled up immediately. Carrion Empire sold like hotcakes, but it also contained a hero that was the hottest thing in the world and was only available in the box. Then you had Looncurse that kinda just disappeared into a puff of smoke. We also had Blood of the Phoenix that was experimenting with some outrageous prices. After the Phoenix box things seemed to normalize with the Feast of Bones and Aether Wars, with both being available a little longer.

Wrath and Rapture is perhaps the weirdest box of it all as it has stayed around indefinitely.

I can never work out if GW just really underestimated how much Wrath and Rapture would sell or not. Then again AoS side they didn't help themselves by making the best way to play Slaanesh being basically just buying Keepers

The Slaanesh and Khorne Codex didn't help. On the Khorne side the dogs were the only thing people used competitively and as you mentioned Slaanesh is Keepers only. I also think they made a metric ton of those boxes because they probably had an overabundance of some of these models in the warehouse. For me these boxes often appear as GW attempting to shift out dead weight in the warehouse, which is why we'll see crap like Vypers and Falcons in Blood of the Phoenix.

Still, I bought two of those boxes(W&R) as I got a nice deal. Always good to have more daemons in the bank.

I wound up with three copies of the models - but it makes me sad that they put such fantastic work into those new models and yet they messed up with the rules. Pretty much only on depravity too - the whole Slaanesh tome would be more fun and more engaging if they just dumped depravity

Also, not for nothing but the SoB box set was limited edition that sold out in seconds after it went up and was still pretty easy to find. The only real issue was that ebay resellers were selling at retail instead of the normal 15% off. Once the panic buyers had taken all the 400$ listings at least. But then, that was there fault.

Remember the Talons of the Emperor box that sat in last chance to buy for 8 months?

On a sidenote though, I wish everything went to last chance to buy before it sold it; that's how I missed out on Gangs of Commarragh and Deathwatch: Overkill. They had been available for months, so it isn't like OP's instant sell out fear. But one day I just woke up and it wasn't in the store anymore.

I suspect this will be like last year's Battleforces, in that it will be limited but you will be able to buy it for some time. It cannot be in their interests not to supply enough of this to satisfy the full market, if nothing else because it contains the rules and if the rules are not freely available then the launch fails right off the bat. I'm going to say it has a limited lifetime rather than a limited run. I strongly suspect we will be able to get it fairly easily. IIRC the LotR Battle of Pelennor Fields is 'limited edition'.

That's what they're aiming for, for sure. But I suspect that was their goal with the Sisters box, too - so we'll have to wait and see if they got a better idea of how many boxes they need to stock to achieve that.
I'm expecting them to sell the new BRB as a standard edition right away, though - otherwise a dick move to anyone not interesting in Necrons and/or Marines.

Well high elfs is what makes any fantasy setting good, having a small print run of them would be rather foolish.

Doubt the marines who are even more important to GW are going to fare different'. Unless it is true, and in some parts of the world everyone playing the game does buy the starter set of an an edition. Then maybe it will not be enough for everyone.

Thankfuly not a big problem for me, as I don't play either factions.

Yeah. The Sisters of Battle box was probably the most anticipated box in GW history before now. I wanted it, but was going on exchange two months after it was going to release, so I held off. I kept holding off after it sold out online in three minutes. I saw about a dozen at various independents and still held off. Finally, about a week before I was due to fly out, I saw the last one at an independent store on sale, and picked it up. Then I flew over to Sweden and found another half dozen. I’m fairly confident everybody who wants one will get one, eventually.

Maybe I've missed something, but really doesn't seem as bad as some people on this forum make out. Most stuff I see parted out from boxes doesn't tend to run more expensive than an equivalent kit would be straight from GW, if not a fair bit cheaper. In my experience, things tend to drop off a little after the initial couple of weeks, too. There are obviously some maniacs throwing insane, speculative prices on things, but caveat emptor, I guess.

Likewise for people like myself who only have use/need of 1 side of the box the other half being sold off allows me to recoup some loss while giving other people to buy the units they want for cheaper than retail, seems a win overall

Oh yeah, I do this all the time. I'm fortunate enough to usually have sufficient spare cash for a full box sloshing about, so if there's one with a kit I want, I'll often buy it, part out all the bits I don't want at a reasonable rate, and get myself some cheapy guys as a treat.

I'm not even going to bother to try and secure a copy of this it will be gone instantly GW have killed any hope and interest I had in this edition with this new constant limited box release. Putting over 70 exclusive models into a limited box run is absolute madness. 40k died for me when they announced this. They dont care about their customers just price gouging and generating massive hype for things that sell out in five minutes. A disgrace.

Seems like a fairly extreme point of view but if the love of GW hung on such a delicate thread, I'm sorry this happened. I however doubt this will sell out as fast as you are fearing and even if it did, you'll be able to get these models again.

Assuming OP is right (which I doubt), stuff like this always makes my econ minor start screaming about inefficiency. Shortages are a sign that prices and/or supply need to rise. Why companies allow stuff like this to happen when it is all but objectively in their worse interests is ... odd. I mean, they can't be so naive that they think it does anything other than transfer their lost profits to scalpers. I suspect watching stuff sell out instantly makes them feel good, the corporate equivalent of an escort.
