I can not tell in the photo if they kept up the alchemy deck, or if that was a Rise of the Dread Moon one and done mechanic.

So Zargon is still mentioned as the villain in the blurb - who then, is Morcar?

Zargon = Morcar - Morcar was used in the original European release and Zargon in the US release (and Japan had Grimdead!). For the re-release they went with US name Zargon in all versions and they've kept that name for this expansions villian but they've kept the original name Wizards of Morcar as AFAIK the US never got a release of the original WoM so there is no Wizards of Zargon.

Yes, so who will Morcar be in this expansion? He must be one of those five evil wizard figures, and while the high mage, necromancer and storm master analogues are easy to identify, I think the orc shaman is the one with the censer, so that leaves Morcar as being a woman with a giant hammer? Unless Morcar is now a place that these evil wizards come from or something...

So I have a general modern Heroquest question:

I have a 3d printer and there's lots of retro STL takes of the original miniatures out there. Is there much of a second-hand market for me to resell the new miniatures but keep the expansion rules, tokens, game bits, etc? Because I'd be wanting to purchase the expansions to play but replace the miniatures with prints that look more like the old stuff.

I’m sure there’ll be some appetite. Playing pieces do get lost and broken. And there’ll always be those wanting to paint them, but not wanting to pay for the whole shebang.

What sort of prices they command I don’t know.

Even if there isn’t? Your worst case scenario is more models under the bed/on the shelf.

Managed to entirely miss Wizards of Morcar!

Particularly fond memories of that one. We’d not long moved from Edinburgh to England which was a pretty rotten time in my life. But Grandad came to visit, and took us boys up London, where he bought us WoM in Hamleys.

Original copy and Grandad sadly no longer with us.

Yes, I guess. You can see on eBay for people selling the mini's, at least.
You're still competing with Amazon, which has free shipping, and infrequent sales.
Conversely, you can look for sellers who are keeping the miniatures and selling the other components.

Have you looked into HeroQuest: First Light? I think it has all the components as HeroQuest, but with different quests. It's a lower price point by replacing most of the mini's with standees.
If you search on "HeroQuest Quest PDF", you can find the quests from the base game, I think.
I'm sure you could more easily sell the HQFL mini's. The HQFL mini's aren't in the new base game, but those who bought the base game are less likely to want to buy another game only for five mini's.
Also, HQFL uses one dragon mini for four or five different versions, so you could have five different mini's from your collection instead of the game's mini.

You can also buy, sell, and trade components on the HQ Ye Olde Inn fansite. Not sure how active it is, though.
