Subject: Successor SM: Fratres et Redemptionis Peccatum
During the civil wars of the Horus Heresy, the Emperor dispatched a small patrol of Dark Angels to secure an ancient relic. This select group of brothers was led by Bariel Maalik, a stern and silent leader. Their transport did not reach its goal; for years deemed lost to the warp. The relic they were meant to secure was stolen from its sacred resting place by a band of chaos renegades.
Then, in hushed tones across the galaxy, stories began to be told. Whispers of a band of guerilla marines. Fighting their way from planet to planet, purging the spread of chaos. Trapped detachments of Imperial Guardsmen told tales of a small group of marines flying in, turning the tide of a battle, and leaving as quickly as they arrived.
Over the years, the dots began to be connected. That patrol led by Bariel Maalik had crashed on a feral world. When they had finally been able to reconnect with the outside world, they learned of their mission’s failure, and the treachery of their Dark Angel brothers. Consumed with guilt over their failures and their brother’s treachery, they vowed to kill every insurgency of heresy until this long-lost relic was found. The Fratres et Redemptinis Peccatum (Brothers of Sin and Redemption) were born.
I wanted to do something, simple, small, and dark-ish. Only troops. Only enough for 500 points. Easy to travel with. However, unique to me. I love the idea of a rogue group of loyalists chasing something with blind rage, and think the dark and secretive past of DA's kinda fits in with the vibe. (I was also able to get a great deal on slightly used DA models, which let me keep this project under $100.) I also grabbed some great hooded helmets, shoulder crests, and shoulder shields from Shapeways. The name? I got from a bar I've frequented in Toronto.
I present my first group of 5 marines. I tried to get a couple of close ups to show off the Shapeways stuff. The logo is a bible on fire, which I found fitting for some reason, despite it not entirely fitting into my fluff. C'est la vie!

Quick update. The Tactical Squad of 10 is done! All based on some GW scenic bases, and some *terrific* resin casts I found on amazon. I really like how they turned out. Especially Sgt. Broown, with the shainsword and upgraded plasma pistol.
I’ve also completed my “CM” - Barrel Maalik... (counts as a DA master, with an upgraded relic sword.)
Working on the counts as Deathwing Terminators now. Have two main challenges with them. 1. How will I paint them, and 2. They just have the regular old boring bases. How can I have them be comparable to those on my models so far..

To spruce up the bases of you terminators you could use offcuts of plastic sprue, some granny grating and/or some pieces of cork board. I'd glue that stuff down an make sure you can attach the mini's legs securely. If you're happy with it, add some sand to the base here and there to tie it all together! That should make for some nice scenic bases.
You might wanna check out Eons of Battle, they have a channel here on Dakka as well as on youtube and they have videos on many types of bases, including rubble! Good luck
Nice work! I think the bases will tie in very well with the other Marines you've done so far! you could make the termies have one leg resting on some rubble for additional effect
The paint scheme looks cohesive and I think the whole force will look great once it's completed.
Upgraded the rest of the termi bases with cork and corrugated stock.
In the foreground you’ll see what a closer to finished one will look like.
I’m also making good progress on my to be named later Librarian. Gotta decide on a colour for the robe, which will be different than the neutral grey the rest of the detachment features. I’m thinking a dark blue, or a purple.

Yeah I think those colours work well together, very nice! You might wanna try adding some wash just around the hood of the librarian to darken some areas down a bit! Great progress, keep it up!
