I know we had a bit of drama with the last Corona thread, but I figured it would be worth highlighting that the UK Government is testing the waters for doing a second lockdown (which translates to talking about it for a week and then likely doing it). This is worth highlighting because any UK firms (including GW) might well end up close down for the duration of a lockdown as they won't be considered "essential services". This might well cause a bit of a panic buy of models before any lockdown and certainly during a lockdown.
For overseas you might see a lag; both in terms of a slower dwindling stock as local reserves are used up and then a slower return once a lockdown ends.
We also dont' know what, if any, plans GW has for a lockdown happening again. They might have plans and means to continue more operations than last time during a lockdown. We also don't know if a new lockdown might have different rules (eg manufacture might be allowed to remain operational to try and maintain the economy in some form etc...)

Debatable. The UK is doing a lot more testing. If you test more, then you'll discover more. So an increase in the number of cases could be simply because they are doing more testing and finding more cases. Regardless, I can't see a 'lockdown' coming into force again as drastic as the previous one. Local 'lockdowns' haven't prevented people from going to work.

The rate of increase of positive results is rising at a much faster rate than the rate of testing. Which implies not just that the UK is detecting more, but that its spreading far quicker.

Well, I think more than anything- the major factors are gonna be the deaths. And those without co-morbidity.
My main job now is in a hospital (well, multiple hospitals). Without getting into too much detail on myself, let's just say that 50% of my commutes involve me loathing traffic in a major capital city, and the others involve me waiting for some dude to get his cows across the road.
I can't violate no hippos (if you know US medicine, you know what I mean)- but I can tell you that all of our deaths in the hospitals where I work were people who'd have died from a flu, or any other respiratory condition.
People want to look at ages, but it's more that person's individual health. The flu kills a lot of people every year, pneumonia does, too. A lot of times, the family of that person is completely dumbstruck by the news that their loved one has passed away from something that's very 'normal'- except most people don't realize how few people get flu shots, or how people have worked around toxic chemicals, or they're shocked to learn their loved one was in fact smoking some stuff that shredded their lungs on a regular basis for the last couple of years. Or- in the saddest cases... someone finds out that their loved one had AIDs (and it's even more terrifying when the wife gets that news).
Overall, I do hear that innovations are coming along. The entire world is trying to fix this problem, which is good.
While I'm the first guy to say "stop panicking", I'm also the last person that'd say "it's a hoax" or something stupid like that (I'd be terrible at my job if I did believe that)- I'll just say that some of the paranoia has gotten people to do things they should have always done- like use caution when you put things in your mouth, or covering your breather-holes when you sneeze or cough, washing your hands, etc. For the first time since ever, I've noticed more retail stores are wiping down their merchandise (something I do at the FLGS I part-time at over the weekends).
Fortunately, I've got a backlog of models and I'll be living overseas for a while with very little to do while I bide my time on this program. If nothing else, even if it is harder to get models during the lockdowns... I'll come back to the USA with plenty of money, and I can pay the light bill at GW HQ.

I know over here (BC Canada) there's talk about a second lockdown, but they're also saying it'll be a differant type and more targeted lock downs aimed at certain busniess types that are spreading it (step one was to close the night clubs, because what idiot thought opening a fething dance club was a good idea?) so hopefully thats the direction the UK goes and GW can keep making us our plastic crack

Even if that were true - and Overread's already addressed the rate of increase - anyone using this as an argument not to lockdown is taking the wrong attitude.
What we should be considering is, how many cases were going undetected before testing increased? Because if it were the same as results showing now, that's deeply concerning.
Of course, we'll never know.

Here in Austria we are basically almost at the same numbers as before the first lockdown in March, BUT I believe as long as hospitals are not overbooked, the politicians won't dare/risk another lockdown (cause of economics and general public mood)

I highly doubt the government in the UK will allow a second lockdown. They've made no secret that protecting the economy comes ahead of protecting lives now. It would take fatalities hitting the April peak for them to go back into a national lockdown, but we might see see more very targeted, very short term local lockdowns.

The thing is fatalities have dropped, but what the stats collecting websites aren't showing is long term care issues. So yes the number of people being killed is going down, but the number of people likely getting major and life long health impacts is going up as the virus has burned its way through the older populations and is now going through younger generations. Potentially this might not harm the economy today, but its setting things up for a burden of people who have major health issues and damage that won't be able to return to work - even if they do they might only be able to do limited duties/hours and require additional support investment.
I figure we'll see lockdowns happen again likely with the government hoping that it happens and then its cleared up by christmas allowing them to re-open at that critical sales time.

Why?
Because I’ve got a First Date lined up for that day. So of course lockdown will return to harsh my mellow.

This is definitely true for the US, things will 100% depend on deaths and the ages of those who died. While I’m not advocating another shutdown, quite a few states in the Union haven’t really been doing much of anything (generally the ones whose leadership doesn’t believe in science). I should preface this by stating that I work in a major US hospital, I work in the lab and perform the testing for Covid. The problem with looking at deaths and ages is that it doesn’t take into account the other long term impacts of the disease. Many people are having long-term (possibly permanent) consequences from getting the disease, many of whom are young and healthy. Also there is the financial impact of these long term health problems, coupled with how many healthcare systems are bleeding money left and right providing expensive long term care and having to delay
procedures. And of course the disease puts our most vulnerable populations at even higher risk.
While I agree it’s awesome to see people doing common sense things like washing their hands and not sticking their hands in their mouths, it does worry me that precautions will likely be based on deaths and ages of those deaths as you said. From an epidemiological standpoint there is a lot more to consider, but much of the leadership for the country doesn’t really understand that. And as such I don’t really expect their to be anymore lockdowns in the States regardless of how prevalent the disease gets.
I for one would like to see it get under control so life can get back to relatively normal (though want people to continue washing their hands and covering their coughs).

At the risk of not letting this get too political and getting the thread locked down too... (I know, I know, guilty!!) - bringing this back on topic a bit.
From what I've seen of how GW treats its staff a) in general and b) in their stores while this has been going on, I believe them when they say that they're operating the factory safely at the moment. That's not to say there's probably a handful of people not taking it seriously - biggest reason I've not gone back into the office, even though we've got decent measures in place - but I suspect if we do have another lockdown, that they'll still be able to keep running at their current capacity as a result.

I'm expecting second lockdown here as i just got lumineth into playable state. Just like in spring and sisters of battle.
On more serious notes cases do seem to be growing faster than test numbers all around so some level of restrictions are coming. Bigger tournaments here are already being cancelled though small ones continue for now
If gw does go lockdown need to get lumineth wave 2 purchases sooner than i thought. Was planning october as september hobby budget used but prefer to not wait until lockdown over. Even if it's just weeks and not months(well 2 like last time.

Masks were held back for a while before being mandated. Then we want through a phasing process where you needed them on public transport, but it took another 2 weeks for shops for some unknown reason.
Not quite sure why Government held back that long, I can only assume it was to try and create a period where everyone would be buying them but not pressured into buying them so supplies wouldn't be run dry in a weekend or somesuch.
Right now its masks pretty much everywhere public besides the street and restaurants (cause you can't eat with a mask on). Schools are a bit hit and miss, some use masks some don't and, well, lets face it schools are hotbeds of disease exchange anyway.

To be fair we have people making masks....and people wearing 'chin warmers' . The later brave warriors make a token effort to cover their nose and mouth in order to get on public transport or enter shoping centres, then pull their coverings back down. Covid has been infecting the wrong people.
