My copy arrives today. Looking forward to it. As long as it plays like Origins and Odyssey and is on a par with them, I'll be happy.

it's a little differant. but it's entertaining so far. one nice feature that fits vikings PERFECTLY is you can have your crew sing a song, OR you can ask for a story to be told. which is just so PERFECT
also, THE CODEX IS BACK!

Enjoying it so far. Just done the opening prologue bit. Glad they have moved the block button back to LB rather than having to time pressing both bumpers at the same time.

Loving this one.... haven’t played the last couple games, but damn this one it’s going to take up a fair bit of my free time... after getting to England am just doing raids to build up the settlement.
Also loving the encounters going out in the wild.... The so called two sons of Ragnar practicing a raid on their own home made me laugh .

From what I've seen of it, one thing turning me off is the jackass protagonist. Its almost a cliche in recent Viking things (including Last Kingdom), but I'm tired of the rude and shortsighted meathead being the lead.
It could also do with less for-no-apparent-reason explosives, just a pet peeve.
Ramming a castle wall with a boat is not a functional (or possible) tactic.

I don't see the protagionist as being a partiuclarly big jackass, generall eivor simply wants to look after his/her people. and prioritizes that. but they're happy to do so by securing alliances etc

What I've seen of the prologue and particularly the interaction with King Dad II, the brother's 'guests' and assorted others, at the very least male Eivor (don't know if the demeanor is different between the two) is constantly rude and abrasive, focused only on his short term goals and everyone else can burn, or get a stream of insults until they get out of the way.
Haven't seen much past the title drop (on the boat out of Fornburg), not enough to a read get his personality after... the various events. Baseline seems to still be rude, but an added dose of sycophant on top (though that seems to depend somewhat on dialogue choices)

Im giving it a miss. The last 3 games just seem like a copy and paste of the same game in terms of how it plays..
I've seen my friend loose days/weeks in origin and odyssey basically doing the same repetitive farming and side quests over and over.
I mean I played like 200+ hrs on DS3 so i cant judge

I finished the main story last night (no spoilers here!) and thoroughly enjoyed it. You don't seem as forced to hunt out and farm every single side quest as you did in Origins and particulalrly Odyssey. With Odyssey I felt I had to complete every last mission because I simply wasn't high enough level to take on the end-game bosses (especially Medusa, which was tough) but with Valhalla, the main story is of sufficient length and reward to keep one's character ticking along in power level nicely.
I played as female Eivor and I found her to be a thoroughly likeable character. Perhaps not as much of a personal favourite of mine as Kassandra but it's a very close-run thing.
I will say this; for those who do/have reached the end-game, I found the plot somewhat confusing.
Edit: Although I have finished the story arc, I haven't 'finished' the game yet; I haven't triggered the credit roll yet. I think I need to assassinate all members of the Order first and I also have one last region to go through (Hampshire)

Kassandra was a hard act to beat mind you, most likeable AC protagionist since Ezio IMHO

Finished the story and all the 45 Order members. Still haven't seen credits roll. I wonder if I have to get my settlement to level 6?

nope, but it comes with a bard who'll sing a song, OR tell stories.

So far I'm really diggin' it. . Just finished up my first alliance last night and began the 2nd one.
One thing I'm loving is how open your fighting load out is. I like the option to have a shield, a 2nd weapon, or a great weapon (small/not so spoilerish thing. . . you can even take a skill perk to dual wield great weapons which is. . . . Lol, I may never try it but it sounds ridiculous)

Was sceptical going into this game, and my distrust was well placed. The main characther are an unlikebal tool and it seems Ubisoft still to this day, dose not know how to release a game without too many bugs. I also found the story sleep inducing alongside the combat.
But I do like how the skill tree is layed out, and some of the music is rather good. Will not play more until it has recived several patches.

Friend of mine has been playing through it on the PS5 and said it's incredible, but has some real immersion-destroying bugs. Like for a moment you think you're a viking doing all this stuff, it looks incredible, then someone clips through the environment or starts an animation in a cut scene at the wrong time and it looks utterly ridiculous.
Admittedly they sound less hilarious than some of the bugs in previous games, but why go through the trouble of doing someone up with all of the make-up, high heels and fashion/wardrobe so they look drop-dead gorgeous and then they let rip with a massive fart the moment they step onto set. The spell is broken!

So I just picked this up on sale xmas eve, and I've been playing non stop. I have like over 70 hours in, and I think I'm only half done based on the map. Maybe because I'm trying to do every territory instead of just going for the ones in the main story quest. And there's still so many side missions and things all over my map that I haven't done. Can't imagine how many hours it would take to complete every little thing, I don't think my thumbs could take it.
