The Wastes of Krieg

I’m noticing a few errors in the book which lead me to question how much effort was put into the book. For example, the DKoK Rider Squadron has the Elite symbol on its profile page but it’s listed under the fast attack section in point values. Also, the unit description for the Medusa Carriage Battery is the exact same description as the Earthshaker Carriage Battery, word for word without even changing the names.

Anyone else noticing stuff like this?

I’ve only seen one other IA book, and was hoping they’d improve. My optimism was fruitless however.

Forge World was great under the leadership of Alan Bligh when the people writing the IA books cared about the game and their product; now it's a minimal-effort please do not bypass the language filter like this. Reds8n carefully calibrated to convince everyone it'd be easier just to go buy more Primaris Marines.

It is absolutely haunting how many errors this book has, BIG errors at that. The FAQ will either be massive or not enough

What you really mean is FW was great under Alan Bligh before they pushed everything else aside to slob the Horus Heresy knob. That's when the min effort 40K rules really started.

And loyalist Leviathans have a longer range on their grav flux bombards than csm Leviathans: 24 vs 18.

The book is full of typos and omissions. Loyalist Contemptors can have melee weapons, but neither the dreadnought combat weapon or dreadnought chainfist has an entry on the datasheet (csm do, however). The Stormblade can have extra sponsons, each with a twin heavy bolter and a lascannon, but only the twin heavy bolters have a points cost. It's a mess. The FAQ will be massive.

i also like that a dual claw Decimator is now equal to a dual butcher cannon decimator, solely the soul burner petard is an additional pts cost..

now explain to me, how the best shooting Daemonengine, that is further buffable, can get Dual Butchers (allbeit nerfed a bit) for the same price, then a dual claw decimator..

It's frankly blatantly not playtested, on top of beeing a faulty mess.

I think it's likely that all daemon engines will be going to WS/BS3. Every daemon engine in the Compendium is WS/BS3, including the Blood Slaughterer and Greater Blight Drone. So Decimators won't be the best shooting daemon engine anymore. Not sure if that makes the weapon prices more balanced or not, but it would make the Decimator more in line with other daemon engines.

It is FW so - not even intended to be balanced - you can even see where the rules writter just gets bored and makes no changes to certain units. You see all the custodes dreads? Pretty much get -1 damage for free plus some weapons got buffed plus they retain bs/ws2+ where all the space marine ones lost it. Why would you ever take a space marine dread over a custodian one? Oh - and ofc practically everything is core.

They literally just flip coins and where heads means buff and tails means nerf or don't change on the whole book.

You'd obviously take a space marine dreadnought because you're playing space marines and not Custodes. And for the billionth time, this was written by the gw rules team, not fw.

If it was FW writing the FW rules we'd be fine. The problem is that it's being written by the team who wants to get all this crap out of the way so they can go try and sell us more Primaris Lieutenants.

Balance.... optional. It's GW, only an idiot expects balance. Nice if it happens, but....
Errors.... Grrr. But at least they could be fixed with FAQs/Errata
No pictures?? In an expen$ive book full of high pri$ed stuff you go "What's that?" if you don't already play a faction, that wasn't a hasty rush job like the 8th ed index books? Did someone forget to tell the intern they're trying to soak $ out of us & the pretty pics are the bait?

Except this is the issue with GW's silo everyone into different departments culture, the GW40k team produce this book, in no way is this book being high quality, promoting the models or generally being not such a gak effort it highlights how unprofessional their behaviour has been.
But they won at office politics and apparently that's more important than money or reputation of the company.

So rain on their parade. Bury them in emails. Clog up their FB page. Complain about every typo, every omission, every stupid rule. Berate them over all the models you bought for your Death Guard or Thousand Sons army that you can't use anymore. Let them know this is unacceptable. Demand that they right what they did wrong.

Do you really think they care what their players think? If their reaction to the general outpouring of rage over Sigmar is any indication all you'll get is vague promises of xenos books for 30k so you can still use all those FW minis in ten or fifteen years when they can be bothered to get around to it.

Don't know. A couple of months of pestering them managed to get them to give Daemonic Machine Spirit to the Hellforged Super Heavys. And I'm pretty sure that was mostly just me. Or was anyone else complaining to them about that at that time?

Or you could just complain here. I'm sure that will get more results.

TBF, there' s no shortage of Black or white knights in regards to GW.
But i personally feel rules writing wise and especially in regards what one is expected to shell out for them, i think we are at a point where we are more then justified to complain.
Alas nu gw 's PR team doesn't like if one questions them on FB as to why their writing is shoddy and conveniently bans uncomfortable criticism.
