To refer back to my headcanon, Skaven are sadistic. They enjoy power, for its own sake. To harm another not because you can. To harm another because they can’t stop you.

That took a dark turn.

Orks are destructive, yes. But they aren’t notably *cruel*. They wouldn’t set you up for a greater fall. They’ll knock you down because they can. Because they feel like it. Because they’ll get a laugh. Because they’re bored.

But they won’t scheme to put you up on a pedestal first. Or better yet, play you so you think you climbed up there because you wanted to. And they wouldn’t orchestrate an audience to increase the humiliation.

Skaven would. That’s why they’re in the Chaos GA, instead of the Destruction GA. Skaven would serve you your own, chilled brain with a nice cianti and fava beans. While the other clan rats watched and gained respect and fear for you.

Plus, all the mutations. That’s gonna get you put in the chaos bin for sure.

Maybe Kurnothi as destruction?

Could be an idea, all 4 elements beeing summoned into elemental constructs.
Could bea bit boring models tough. (or competely crazy, GW shows there seems to be no limit to odd and wierd sculpts these days..)

There’s also the question of how utterly certain Orcs are in their mindset.

Fighting is fun. Breaking stuff is fun. War is life, and life is war. Given they have no real introspection, and wherever they go, there’s someone gonna put up a fight? They’ve no reason to stop and question if everyone else is enjoying krumpin’ as much as they do.

It’s even arguable that with such an outlook, they consider enemy fortifications to have been created to make the fight ever more fun. So by building such, it’s an invite to the Orc to come and have a go if he thinks he’s hard enough.

There’s just no room there for active malice. They’re having such a great time, they assume everyone else is. Otherwise, why are they fighting?

So these fallen SC have essentially become Orks...

That was just an example. As I was typing, I realized it sounded like Chaos Spa- I mean, Chaos Stormcast.

On the idea of Wood Elf type things (closer to those in Underworlds)...

Imagine them starting out as feeling betrayed by the Gods, and seeking to tear down shrines etc.

That’s a pretty cool idea. Now develop that, to the point where they’ve become adept at essentially herding Orc tribes to bigger targets. Rinse and repeat, and Orcs might very willingly follow their herding, knowing “the skinny’s always know where to find a good fight’

Have them really tribal, with lots of ridden beasties, and super quick, but very light scouts on foot.

Love the idea, but that sounds very similar to Beasts of Chaos to me personally

Werewolves, akin to Circle of Orboros in Warmahordes, be they shifters or permanently transformed after being human. Throw in some lore about them being too savage as a culture to align with the civilisation building of Order's humans and away you go.

I know Chaos already has Skinwolves, but they're a FW holdover from WHFB and who's really cared about that when it comes to Fantasy/AoS? Arguably they'd be stepping on Beastmen's toes a little bit, although if their background lore wasn't so strongly tied to Chaos directly, they feel like more of a Destruction race at this point.

Orks are definitely cruel, they just have very short attention spans. They enjoy torture and the misery of those weaker than them, they just don't really plan around it.

I could certainly see some other race of beings developed. Same with DEATH, there isn't a whole lot of factions for them, but it'd be pretty easy to create a new version ala Bonereapers.

I agree. The fact that they were a matriarchal society was ridiculous.

A monstrous destruction army would be cool.
The old tamurkan book had a pure monsters army, using unridden dragons as heroes.

Ah.

I'd like to second the support for some sort of insect race for AoS.

I think it would be neat to have a faction that is kind of a paradigm shift on the whole theme of the Destruction Grand Alliance . Instead of savage brutes trying to tear down civilization , maybe an advanced civilization trying to conquer and build their own empire.

Perhaps a predatory race that has motivations/needs/beliefs that put them well outside of the Chaos/Order/Death umbrellas. To entwine it further with the Destruction alliance, they could use certain units from the whole of the Destruction Grand Alliance as slave-soldiers/fodder, to supplement their own forces.

I would second any calls for Fimir- they are the destruction army I would love to see most.

Second most would be a take on destruction humans. In my head it would be cool to present them as like the Steppe nomads of real history- Scythians/Sarmatians/Alans/Huns/Mongols etc.

Lots of interesting design inspiration from them.

Given the general structure of the Destruction book right now, a multi-faction list could work.

Maybe Fimir as the "big" element, druidic humans/elves as the main element with a beats faction (maybe wolf packs) as the fast element

I do think there needs to be a meta-lore decision to decide if everything in Destruction needs to follow Gorkamorka or not. It determines a lot of what can realistically be done and what is a good idea to do.

Of course they probably already have made that decision, come to think of it.

We might get some smaller deities to expand a destruction pantheon. The way it's describe, the Bad Moon may or may not be an aspect or Gorkamorka.

Or they could go with a new faction the only follows one part of him, maybe a form of Elves that worship Mork or another race that only follows Gork

Death has a similar problem, but we do already have the Mortarchs so that could be a way to give Death a demi Patheon too.

The mortarchs are all slaved to Nagash though.

Anyways, an army that view Gork/Mork as the only legitimate god and abhors the other as false would be awesome and hilarious in equal measure!

Legion of Everblight could provide inspiration for a Dragon themed tyranid a-like destruction army. In fact, Warmahordes also ties in nicely with the human "warcaster" driving hordes of vast monsters forward for battle.
Some of the Trollblood and Everblight Gargantuan's could fit right in.

I would like to see dragons, like, normal dragons (well as normal as they can be) but am afraid GW won't do it because of chapterhouseism.

Okay, hear me out. A rather unhinged offshoot of Nuln or dwarfs. Taking the name destruction of the faction to a very literal place. Obsessed with blowing stuff up with medieval demolitions equipment. Throw in a fun fantasy twist, maybe a cult or religion dedicated to reducing castles to rubble with black powder and that sort of thing. Lots of short range heavy hitting explosives as they lob democharges at the enemy before charging in with sledge hammers or mining picks or anything else you can think of to pull a building apart.
