Called out of work today, claiming that I have a mild case of Justinian Plague. Jokes on them, as I'm camped out in front of my local theater to be first in line for Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Been successfully avoiding all news and spoilers and even skipped the trailers to go in completely fresh. Had this date marked in my calendar since it was first revealed. Super excited!!!
Spoiler:
I kid, of course.
Crazy that it was supposed to release today. Pretty wild how the entire landscape of the MCU changed when Jonathan Majors had his "domestic dispute" and Disney decided to can the Kang thing and shift straight to Dr. Doom instead of recasting.

"Sometimes the only victory possible is to keep your opponent from winning." - The Emperor, from The Outcast Dead.
"Tell your gods we are coming for them, and that their realms will burn as ours did." -Thostos Bladestorm
The 2018 Secret Wars comic series that is being adapted for the MCU originally featured Doctor Doom as the main antagonist. With Kang being dropped due to Jonathan Major's legal problems and Marvel's unwillingness to recast, Doctor Doom as the main antagonist in the two films made the most sense.
'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

Anytime the thing focused on Murdock and the Fisk's it worked pretty well, other times not as much.
The writing is not as tight as it could have been, and the "monster of the week" feel detracted a bit from it. However, the White Tiger storyline was pretty good. The Muse and Bullseye lines not so much. The Red Hook plot line is laughably bad.
Spoiler:
I am surprised the "usual suspects" aren't going after this thing for being "woke" nonsense.

I'd take this farther. Even before the Jonathan Major's issues, I assumed the plan was to have Kang be a red herring villain with Doom being the surprise big bad for Secret Wars revealed after. Honestly, in hindsight I'd not be surprised to learn that RDJ was always intended in the role and his return was supposed to be a huge reveal at the end of Avengers 5.
So I rewatched Netflix's Daredevil show to prepare for the new Disney plus one and it occurs to me; the entire Hand/Elektra/Secret War subplot of Daredevil is really really gak. Like it's really gak and complete distraction from all the other plots in the show that are just way less stupid and distracting.
The entire Punisher subplot in season 2 really stands up honestly, but the other half of the plot? Just gak. And just in the way in the worst ways. I started skipping it because I just don't care.

I really enjoyed the Netflix Daredevil but it certainly had its ups and downs. Still, when it was hitting on all cylinders it was amazing. The hallway fight scene in season 1 should be taught in film studies programs. The camera work, lighting, sound design, and choreography were all top notch. Have a one semester course that covers both it and the hallway fight from Oldboy.
Marvel has said that Doom isn't a Stark variant but I wouldn't put it past them to be pedantic and turns out that it is actually that Stark is a Doom variant.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
I would be almost shocked if they didn't make a gag out of 'he looks a lot like Tony.' Like, not even like 'he's an alternate Stark' just as a gag about how he's the same actor.

He's just a dude playing a dude that looks like another dude.

Doom's entire arc in Secret Wars is basically an extreme version of Tony's in the MCU. I cannot fathom a way of doing this where he's actually just Victor and happens to look identical to the most important character in the franchise.

Wishful thinking IMO, there's no way RDJ just wears a mask for the remainder of a film once he's sealed in, they'll likely do the "inner suit POV" like they did with previous Iron Man films.
I always felt they really wasted Mads Mikkelsen in casting him for a largely throw-away villain character in the first Dr Strange movie since I feel like he would have been a much better casting choice for Doom than RDJ.

Red Skull
This is actually a result of the Ultimates template the MCU is based on. That universe is entirely built around the idea that the SSS is responsible for basically everything super hero related on earth. OsCorp is contracted by SHIELD to recreate it and winds up with the goblin serum and Peter was bit by one of the test spiders for it. At one point they pushed the idea that mutants are a result of using Logan as a guinea pig to make the serum and him going on to have a LOT of kids all over the world...
Are they bringing back Luke Cage? I've moved on from Daredevil and Punisher to the old Luke Cage show and you know this show really holds up. Iron Fist is ass in both seasons. Luke Cage is good though and honestly I enjoyed the rewatch a lot more than I enjoyed the other shows in the old Netflix lineup. And S2 ends in an interesting place. Let's bring back Luke Cage.
I'm waaaaaaaaay behind on most, if not all, of the Disney+ stuff.
I've seen all of the MCU films, but not a heck of a lot of the TV shows.
I used to watch all the Marvel Netflix stuff, and I've been enjoying Daredevil... but I realized I've missed out on some decent stuff - but I've also dodged a few bullets.
So, what's worth watching, and what's worth avoiding?

Let's see if I can list these in the release order - without looking it up....
WandaVision - excellent
Falcoln & Winter Soldier - it's ok. Introduces John Walker/USAgent. a bit of a look at the world post-snap & return
Moon Knight - more or less Ok, but completely not related to anything
Werewolf By Night - I really like this one. Just a one off 1 episode story. Also not really related to anything. Just something happening in the MCU
Guardians Christmas Special - excellent
Hawkeye - it's OK. The best part is Fisk
Ms Marvel - OKish. a little rough plot wise. But I like the main character & her family. Her father is the banker Matt talks to in the one Born Again episode.
She-Hulk - Hmm. You're either going to like this one or hate it.... I liked it. I was entertained & I'm sad they probably won't make any more. :( I am in the minority on this one.
Echo - Eh. Not good, not bad
Secret Invasion - this is the turd of the bunch
Agatha - Higher end of OK. It follows from Wandaision, but you don't really need to have seen that one.
The "What If..." seasons. - pretty good over all. Tells a complete story.

Wouldn't be my first choice to bring Luke Cage back. Jessica Jones took forever to go anywhere but was fun when it finally got there. Two seasons of Luke Cage felt much longer to me than three seasons of Jessica Jones and I constantly looked for other things to do while I watched it.
At least Iron Fist had the decency to end a few episodes early in its final season.
Nehekhara lives! Sort of!
Why is the rum always gone?

Missed the Loki tv shows there - they introduce the TVA (useful for Deadpool & Wolverine) but otherwise non-critical. But they are very good.
