Roos are highly territorial and swole as feth. They typically try to gut your gryph hounds with their back claws or try to drown them in water by holding their heads under water.

I like that they are doing something other than horses as mounts.

"She" is actually a "He" if you read the GW footnote.

Welp, I think I found what the unnamed mount's inspired from.

Also, why are the Not-Kangaroos called tree runners? Most of the art we've seen for Lumineth has them in wheat fields and the only trees you see are bonsai. Sure, the realms are massive and have every imaginable environment, but I guess plainrunners was already copyrighted

It feels like those Lumineth minis have far too much going on with them both in terms of sculpt and posing. Plus, those kangaroos are awful.

The Vamp Lord could be okay, but the eavy metal paint job makes it look worse than it is. The lack of detail is actually nice for a change, no filigree out the wazoo. The bats need to go though, for as much as GW like to pride themselves on intricate sculpts, this isn't it.

Yeah. They're 'fantasy impractical' rather than 'utterly impractical,' so it works. Too busy for my personal taste, but the mounts are fine. There is sadly much worse in the Lumineth line.
----

The vampire looks a lot better than the potato cam implied. The tactical rock is still a bit unnecessary, but the pose is better than it looked on potato cam (I thought the ankles were fused together in the blurred pic, and having a wider stance really helps).
Change the angle on the rock and it might look pretty good, to be honest.

The face isn't even bad, the painter just neglected to do anything but paint the eyes like the flesh, and that just doesn't work. The cheeks have more detail and depth than the eyes, and that's really bizarre from a painting perspective.

Bat hair is still silly, but I like the simplicity of the armor.
Not sure I believe the footnote that the model is supposed to be male.

Time to over-read the text
What heroes will stand against this reborn evil? You might just find out on Saturday as we raise the stakes in our latest Warhammer Preview online.

So, while the vampire is a blister (from the potato-cam). I'm getting yet more heroquest vibes. Vampires vs Witchhunters, really think that's what's in store.

Blimey, that turned me around. That Vanari hero is absolutely gorgeous, and the treerunners are actually pretty decent.

Vampire Lord is a bit of a shame, armour looks incredibly flat when compared the established Von Carstein armour style. I suppose that's a strong case for the difference between Old World vampires and Nagash's lackeys? Definitely a solid base for further work, to be sure, but still a bit disappointing that's what Soulblight are getting as one of their clampack strategic battle rock heroes.

Very keen to see what's to come though, a plastic Vampire Lord is a huge leap closer to plastic Blood Knights

Just gonna throw this out there, but they have done big chunks of character blister drops in one go before.

Personally, I like the Vampire Lord. The armor puts it in line with the Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon/Terrorgheist aesthetic.

Male and female vampires are refered to as such in the game regardless of gender - otherwise not sure where you mean. I think they could pass for either really.

Not that I think it’s out of the question, Heroes sure, but how are you reading HQ from ‘stakes’ at all? Just seems a classic pun.
Also I assume you mean Warhammer Quest, as it definitely isn’t Heroquest.

Depends whether they want to double, well triple, down on vampires.
New faction, Underworlds, and a WH quest game.

I mean personally, I say, they better do!

I want to like the vampire but I can't. Maybe a better paint job would help, "blaze orange" isn't a colour one would typically associate with vampires.

Talon was likely referring to the footnote that was in the initial article drop, where there was an asterix that sent you to the bottom of the page where it talked about the vampire also answering to "Sir". That is now gone.

Stakes for Witch Hunters as the hero side of the WQ boxed set.

Also I assume you mean Warhammer Quest, as it definitely isn’t Heroquest.

Old, old habits. Heroquest, Advanced Heroquest and Warhammer Quest are all iterations of the same thing to me (though obviously with their own positives and negatives), and 'Heroquest' is the shortest version of the name, so that's what I use.

Specifically that 'he' answers to sir (among other appellations).
Kind of interesting that they dropped it.

Yea, that model is proof that quality sculpting won't survive poor composition.

That model is a mess, the bats in the hair, sure the sculptor could have intended on it materializing from them, but their is no transition from any of the bats, or any other part of the model. Nope, just random low resolution bats of equal size just scatter shot flying in all different directions BUT isolated to that spaghetti marinara on the vamps head.

Then the armor, while being very cool, is also just very line infantry, generic looking and for the life of me I don't know why they gave him Sorons mace lol. Too big and makes the armor look even more middle earth like.

Then we finally pan down and realize this dudes just kind of leaning off of a small but awkward rock for no reason. It's like it was his only option, and he reluctantly perched onto it to try and get his guys attention lol.

IDK, it's another technical accomplishment. But lousy presentation.

Highly doubtful. Each of the Aelementari Temples have a signature weapon/fighting style. There might be a different bow or crossbow option though.

I don't even think you'd need to swap the heads! Slap some shuriken catapults and some guardian bodies and you'd be onto something!
