Hi Para, sorry to be a pain, but can I change my entry for this month please?

Helbrute came to a dead stop very quickly and has no chance of being completed in time.

I'd like to change my entry to a Space Marine Intercessor. Setting the bar real low, will attempt a "Battle Ready" standard.

Proof pic - please ignore current state of paint as I'm going to re-base in Macragge Blue having completely stuffed up the colours previously:

Will add a WIP after re-basing, which will probably make a better proof pic.

That big marine is awesome!

For themes something robot related would be good for me. Been wanting to paint my core space stuff for a while.

Man vs Machine? Something like that?

Went a different direction with this piece, and as a proof of concept for the direction I want to take my Deathwatch as well.

Aiming for a cleaner, "crisper" style that is a bit of 'Eavy Metal meets Darren Latham, with some of my own flair creeping in a bit.

Holy crap DV8! That looks like something straight off an Iron Maiden album cover or something (and that is a good thing!)

DV8 that Chaplain is Beautiful... the gold especially looks really 'deep' best word I can find to describe it... the little touches work really well on what is already a super nice model.

Nice. Have you considered dusting the tyres with powder? They look a little fresh.

So I've actually dusted the entire underside of the model and parts of the bottom with a light coat of the same weathering powder combo I did on the base, and the wheels have a pretty liberal dusting over the entire thing, which I guess makes it look pretty uniform! I'll sit on it for a day or two and then revisit the model to see if a another heavier application on the wheels will look good!

QAR's tabletop standard is most other people's dream paintjob.

Right up there with the “quick WIP” that’s far better than our finished products. We get painters of all levels here.

It might just be the photos if that's the case.

I mean you raise fair points. I've done multiple dullcote passes so it might have knocked back some of the strength. I'll definitely take a quick break to refresh the mind and then take a look in a few days with fresh eyes!

Some lovely entries coming in towards the end of the month.

On my end, I have finished my entry. The face and eyes are things I still need to work on and some weathering on the pteruges would help but gonna call it now. C&C appreciated, it all helps.

(Big photos spoilered, Para/Nev, if you'd please use these for the voting that'd be sweet!)

That's a Hella nice white armour and the sword is also sweet. C&C from me would be the shines on the pauldron trims are a little stark. I think they would benefit from a smoother transition from dark to light. NMM looks great. I would call that demon entry material for sure.

Lovely piece @Tyranid! A couple of thoughts from me.

First, the big ones:

You've got these white line highlights on the shoulder pauldrons. Adding those suggests some sort of reflected light off the metallic trim, which means that the metallic trim (acting as a source of light) should be reflecting your primary light source. So your highlights in both instances should mirror each other. That is, your trim should be receiving a strong highlight in order to reflect that line into the pauldron (or a weaker, or lack thereof, in the trim, should reflect in a weaker or no line in the pauldron).

The face, as you mentioned, you want to work on. I think for me, I would neaten up the eyes; the seem a little big for his head. His eye sockets seem very sunken in, and could do with being a little brighter. Similarly, the shadow under his cheekbones is incredibly dark, and makes him look very gaunt and almost like he has no flesh/muscle on his bones.

Also, the top of his forehead should be as bright as, if not brighter, than the spot just above his brow. Think of a circle with a bump; if your light source is overhead, then the top of the circle (forehead) and the top of the bump (brow) are receiving the brightest highlights.

And then some minor issues that's more just me picking at the little things:

Clean up some of the joins between the elbow pads and gauntlets. The right arm in particular (you can see a white dot in the side shot).

I think the hip plates (particularly from the back view) need a bit more weathering/staining to match the thigh plates. The hips are stark white compared to the thigh's dirtier khaki-brown.

The purity seal on the pistol holster has a black line that pushes beyond the edge of the parchment, where the other lines are neatly framed. Consider correcting that, unless you're suggesting an overzealous scribe started way on the edge of the paper for that one sentence!

EDIT: Holy poop, I'm speed drybrushing now? UPGRADE!!

A lot of great stuff showing up on the last pages. Although I think some people are playing it fast and loose with the term tabletop standard

It will be a close one for me, but can see the finish line:

And with the driver in no one will ever know he has a nice leather seat

You'll know and that's the important thing. The amount of time I spend on details that will become obscured by other parts, weathering or basing materials is ridiculous. But it's important to me!
