That's the first picture that makes Carnage Tract look good! The maw is painted a bit too gaudy for my tastes. Parrot griffin is excellent, obviously, a big draw to pay attention to the next campaign.

FB links to more Prismacast videos and some pics.

Looks grainy up up up close, but should be fine for play. You can always touch up the paint jobs (eg. apply a blue gloss to the crystals).
Of course if you enjoy painting, stick to unpainted. Not all SG's are pre-painted, so you'll still have stuff to paint...

As someone with limited time i would always prefer pre-painted. Just assembling it and playing out of the box is a huge boost. The only thing i don't like it's the price. I think one prepainted terrain box was like 90 euros.

Regarding the new IPs i get Disonored and World of Tanks but am buffled by Quake. I don't know anyone that said "oh i like Quake, would be nice if it was a board game!" lol

There was a Doom board game by FFG a few years ago, so perhaps Quake can make sense as well ?

I don't know about the board game itself, but I am very interested in quality plastic models from Quake. So I'm all in favor of it.

$55 on GameFound, though shipping increases the price by $15+

If you don't mind cardboard, Battle Systems is much less expensive, with different designs. I usually won't mix the two together, though.

Well, you'd have to make your own stats?

I was watching a Spiel livestream when they asked for the price but it might have been wrong. 55 is more reasonable.

Bal'or Render (he should be 220mm tall on a 75mm base)

and a bit of an update on the Porthaven ship it will not be modular it will have some swappable details like the figure head but otherwise is a set build - I actually prefer this as modularity often leads to compromise in the design that looks off IMO.

Modular is one of the things that sounds really nice but in the end works out to be either very complicated or indeed, it looks off. So it's good that it's not modular. It's not really all that interesting to me because I like my ships to be more Medieval in style, but still. There clearly is a market for pirate ships and the like.

And the Bal'or looks really cool!

Modularity is there for the RPG'ers, who have to have a certain size boat. D&D's Secrets of Saltmarsh has a variety of boats, and it would be nice if I could have boats of the right sizes, but that would *still* be expensive, even if had modular boats.

Of course, the reality will be that the boat won't do more than sit in the background of a miniature skirmish game (and look good for a few photos), while everyone fights on the other side of the board.

We had the same thought for the longest time but it's a game that means a lot to the CEO and COO, so here we are :p

All in all I think the game will have potential, I don't think there are too many board games that use 3D terrain and fast-paced movement mechanics. At the very least, it'd be cool if we could go ahead and do that but we're still quite far from a concrete design. Our design process for board games has undergone a proper evolution, we have a lot more people designing and playtesting now.

I can say with confidence that Master of Orion is our magnum opus when it comes to board game design though. I've played through a decent bit of games, even going so far as to come to the office to play some more during my vacation. Maybe the crowdfunding campaign won't break any records, but I sincerely believe this game has massive potential. We'll be releasing a TTS version of the game before the campaign launches, I hope you guys check it out if you have some friends that are willing to try it

I mean, Mantic's Halo game is doing just this (FPS style arena shooting on 3D terrain with an established IP) and seems to be very popular! I also remember Adrenaline, a purely 2-D game that very much evoked the feeling of quake with the fast pacing, different weapon styles, and constant respawning. I think there are a lot of good lessons to learn from its design: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/202408/adrenaline

Glorious, apart from the gun ports sitting awfully close to the waterline, and the floors seem to be the standard Archon Ogre-high rather than cramped for humans.

Well, as my models can't hunch like an actual human I'm not minded by that. But the gun ports I agree wouldn't mind being a bit higher up. Probably starting at where the top of them are now.

I agree. It's the wrong kind of ship for me (everything I have is more medieval) but the decks being higher is good for me. There are so many minis that aren't crouched or have a sword that reaches over their head or the like. Fundamentally, there are no really good solutions to it.

I would say the solution is to not put the roof on while you have minis inside

It does look like the deck is gridless, I hope it stays that way.

From their update, looks like it has a "hidden" grid ...

The decks come with organically integrated grids for easy movement

I agree the bottom deck cannon placement looks off, but I still want the sucker to go with the rest of my fleet - and it should be usable in my Pirates & Plunder games.

It never ends well

Doom has already come in two different versions as a board game and both have been received well, the newer version in particular (7,4 on BGG is very solid!).

And there's also Adrenaline which is just trying to be as much an FPS game on a board as possible. Haven't played myself, but 7,0 on BGG is, once again, solid.

I don't see how Quake can't be a successful board game as well.

The grid is hidden enough I still can't see it even knowing it's there, so I'm good with it

EDIT: Yea Quake has at least two directions it can go, arena battler or dungeon crawler.

Personally, I have the Doom & Halo (VHS version) boardgames from years ago and wouldn't mind grabbing a Quake version as well.

I just sort of see them as the sci-fi version of Heroquest/Descent or a variant on Space Hulk/Space Crusade.

It never ends well

Offical confirmation the Pledge manager for Caves will be extended, but unless I missed it l, they haven't said until when yet. Also now at least WIPs for all painted bits.

I think I'll go firm on mine tonight, having expanded my original pledge by a Miner prepainted, going with the Demonic caves and subsets.

My original King of the mountain unpainted I'm thinking of keeping, as dropping down to the unpainted 2 + 6 sets only saves 60 quid.

Originally I was going to go with 2x the standard caves and 1x demonic caves (plus subthemes), but as I'm getting demonic caves painted I'll venture for the third unpainted set for Belly of the Beast and paint it to match my Tyranids. Which will double up as a baddie alien / demonic race a la Kreegan from Might and Magic series.

As for the paint schemes, they are all decent, but standard caves seem easy enough to do as just rocks, and I'm not keen on the crystals in the deep caves, I'd rather they were less stand out.

Foxy Wildborne

I was iffy on Belly from the start but the painted version really sold me on it, so vibrant, plus I just played Darkest Dungeon, which it's based on.

I'm pretty disappointed at how monochrome the rest of the sets are, initially they were showing warm brown stone caves that looked a lot better and now everything outside Belly is the same gray. It's making me reconsider prepaints, I might just switch to unpainted and get 50% more stuff for the money.

How long did it take for Legacy shipping to arrive? I paid mine on October 3rd, and it hasn't arrived yet. PM says "Stage: Preparing for shipping". What should I look for to show my package has been shipped? TIA
