Not feeling this one. I don't need another crate of random fantasy dudes, the ship is okay but can be done vastly cheaper in FDM, I like the port scatter very much but so far can't get it separately...
I also feel like the SG are moving at a snail's pace... and checking Caves... it had twice as many SG at this sum and most of it was useful stuff, not animals with peg legs and eye patches.

I want to like this one as it's got sets which themes I like a lot but I just don't care for Archon's art direction since the terrain kickstarter. Even though everything is hard plastic it's overly large and cartoony clothing/ equipment really make this look like WoW which is not for me sadly.
Hard to justify even just a single set with 1/3rd of it is all I'd ever use let alone 3 sets to get super SG stuff.

My issue is that there are about 12 miniatures I want, but they are spread across all 4 sets and the current stretch goals...and while a ghost pirate ship is an awesome idea (moreso than the painted one) I just cannot see the utility for my group.
Urusei Yatsura, Cerebus the Aardvark, Machiavelli, Plato and Happy Days. So, how was your childhood?

20 models sounds small but honestly its a good spot for most wargames to start. Those that get bigger tend to have to last a while first to get people to build up and then expand naturally and then push for larger games. Plus being a 3rd party IP you never know if you'll get more than one go at it before the licence is pulled/changed and such.
That's more for the starter box than anything, you'll be able to field much bigger armies if you want to
We definitely want a bigger focus on narrative play as opposed to competitive play, as that's where most of the fun is to be had I think. As a sidenote, not talking about this project was perhaps the biggest test in patience I have ever experienced (I'm a hardcore Starcraft fan)
Automatically Appended Next Post: Regarding the stretch goals in Porthaven/Caves, D&L VI had a lot of smaller terrain pieces in the Stretch Goals that are easier to sculpt and can even be given out multiple times. Porthaven has more minis in the SGs.
Also, it's only just the beginning of the campaign, we still have an absolute ton to get through
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and going back to Starcraft, we chose 32mm as it's more accessible. I believe the starter box will be closer to something between AoS and a 40k combat patrol box.
We don't have any plans for it right now, but a second game using a smaller scale and different ruleset is a possibility in the future.

Arcon doesn't pay the tarrifs the backer does. You will be billed by the courier any amount due some time after it clears customs, even after it's delivered. What that amount will be 100% depends on what they are the day they go through customs. If you do not pay the courier has legal recourse including leans and wadge gouging.
There is no eating the difference possible as they do not have a US intermediary as far as I'm aware.

If Tariffs end up like taxes you can get double stung by couriers. A good few will "pay your tax" for you without asking so you not only have to pay import tax but the firms fee for doing it for you.
Which, of course, means that the functional cost to the customer has gone up yet again
Got a reply from Kamil of Archon: "Please note that De Minimis still applies to US imports from the EU, which means that the tariffs only apply if your pledge is above $800."
Strangely, I'm not "feeling it" like I did with Deuslair. Maybe I'm waiting for bigger SSG's to be unlocked??
Anyway, getting some terrain. Lovely pair of coconuts!

i'd be very wary of relying on that 'under $800' personal import exception, they cancelled it for China (and I think one other country?) pretty rapidly when the US govt wanted to crack down on Temu/Ali Express/Shein
so if these tariffs do stay around i expect it to happen to any imports from countries/regions the US govt is mad at which certainly includes the EU
I hope i'm wrong, but plan to have 20% of your pledge amount available around delivery date just in case

They are great minis and I have their earlier releases which paint up to something really nice on the table however, I am little OD'd on the fantasy range.
I'd really be interested in a Sci-Fi range of civilians/travelers/NPC aliens.
I can only live in hope.

Regarding tariffs, the De Minimis threshold is still in place for the EU, so there are no changes for products made and shipped from Poland with a value up to $800 US However, the current U.S. administration will be cancelling De Minimis eligibility for all goods originating from China and Hong Kong starting May 5th. We are working on a backup plan in case the U.S. administration announces any further changes to De Minimis for the EU ( establishing Archon's assembly and shipping hub located in the U.S.).
Tariffs will heavily impact anything made in China, which includes about 99,9% of crowdfunding projects. That’s why our three-year plan (we are in year 2, a new manufacturing/warehouse site is being built) has been to shift board game production to Europe, starting with Master of Orion.

Squidmar just posted a video of a tour of the Archon studios!
Just picked up an army of ratmen on sale, the chimera and hydra overlap the coming Wildspire campaign (gaming miniatures, not as detailed as Archon), and I don't have much need for more nautical mini's (still haven't played my three or four boxes of CMON Rum and Bones), but will look forward to the next Archon campaign. Also, spent two campaign's worth of $$$ on the previous Archon campaign prepaints, anyway.
I'm skipping too. The base pledges are too full of quirky NPCs, with only the Port pack having really cool terrain, and not enough useful, actually nautical stuff was added in the SG. Flooding the SG with ratmen at a time GW is literally giving away Skaventide boxes sure was a choice. Meanwhile there are zero sharks, zero reefs, zero transparent giant waves, or most other things a seaborne campaign should contend with.

26 hours to go $2 million passed and the Kirin is unlocked
They've added the Cockatrice and Duck Dragon as SG/SSG anyway.I'd agree that the SG are all over the place and don't really match the theme. Still in for a ship though.
Something I noted as I was checking my pledge I locked in on the first day, opted for Stretch Pay and used GF currency converter. This doesn't appear to update as rates change so when I updated it today it went from charging €43.45 a month to €42.22. Might be worth updating your pledge if you locked in early and used the GF converter.

I couldn't resist all the pirate themed stuff so went in quite hard on this one! Very curious to see how the prepainted ship looks on sprue and assembled.
Check out our new, fully plastic tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge, made by Dakka!

Good move. Archon does NOT let you purchase product available retail, so, if you wanted these nautical miniatures, you got the best price. I have the prepainted dungeon rooms, and, while the starter looks "meh" and the torture chambers are good, the mine and Hall of Heroes are MUCH better than anything I'd have the time and patience to paint!
Really hope Archon's next campaign will be prepaints and an overhaul of the doors. Archon mention that the roofs and Tudor mansion's molds didn't support prepaints.

This new Endgame feature on Gamefound is interesting - 21 hours after the official end and it's still running - Endgame basically resets the clock to 10 minutes left every time there is a new pledge or an existing backer adds more to their pledge it's added another $169K and helped unlock the Leviathan at $2.5m and an extra set of docks with more to come - it could in theory run forever but the creator has the option to shut it down any time they want.
So as of right now the GF is still live

Gamefound are much more dynamic than KS have been - they also have split payments as an option too so you can make a huge pledge but have the payments for it spread out (so long as you're approved for it).
Honestly I think it just shows how KS kind of exploded onto the market and then sat back and let the money roll in - heck they only just started trying to put together post-campaign pledge managers
Marvelous functionality indeed. The herd mentality aspect is a bit funny - everyone will have months to add that money in after the campaign anyway but the counter ticking up is just so exciting.

Well, there is a tangible benefit to adding in the endgame vs later in the pledge manager, as stretch goals are still being unlocked. If people had waited til the pledge manager, the Leviathan, Duck dragon and cockatrice would not have been unlocked at all. As far as excitement though, the pace is super slow. I look at it every so many hours because "yay more free stuff" is being added...
