you.

Look, if you don't like the old marines & choose to replace yours? That's fine. You do you.
But the rest of us? More than plenty of us like our our old marines just fine, have invested who-knows-how much time & effort into their painting, conversion, etc and see no reason to re-buy our army. No reason to spend all that time*, effort*, & $* on the same force again.

*Of course that time/effort/$ WILL be spent - just on new projects, not replacing an existing army with a slightly different version of itself....

Question - why does Primaris existing mean you'd need to rebuy your whole army again?

If you had an army without primaris, and now an army with primaris is no longer legal or efficient you don't really have an option, unless you really want to have a bad time playing the game.

Proxy?

Also, efficiency would apply to any rules changes too - if someone was chasing efficiency at all costs, Primaris or no Primaris, their list would still be subject to change.

Plus, that's only a bad time if you mind your army being sub-par or playing with proxies, or playing an older edition.

I also say again, just Primaris *existing*, not replacing. Primaris existing doesn't mean you *need* to buy new stuff any more so than a new tank existing means you need to buy that too.

I agree that GW originally planned on replacing firstborn but have now decided not to. They've had two (codex) opportunities (and a new edition) since they were introduced to do that if they were going to.

I can only see GW releasing separate codexes if the chapter-specific units all go primaris. It doesn't make much sense to me to have both firstborn and primaris in the supplements if the main codexes are split.

For chapters like GK I can see GW releasing more truescale marines like Crowe.

GW should've just rescaled Space Marines in the first place instead of creating Primaris. 40K is a bloated mess.

Retcon it and give us proper tanks and rescaled Terminators. I don't even care if half my Primaris models get "invalidated"

Terminators are proper scale imo. Just very uninspiring models.

Too short and skinny. They need to bulk up and get Primaris-ized

Aggressors are lame replacements

A lot of people think that Primaris were just re-scaled Marines, but the project was hijacked and redirected by the extremely negative reaction to GW nuking the Old World.

Nah man. 40k's easy. Just look at Death Guard. They've only got 39 strats in 7 broad categories! That's easy to remember.

Hmmm. Nostalgia definitely plays a part, but I vastly prefer the design of Terminators to Agressors. I was introduced to 40K by the Space Hulk video game though, so that likely colours my feelings about tactical dreadnaught armour!

Primaris look cool, I am just annoyed about the increase in base size that has rippled out through the entire game and resulted in scale creep all over the place. I think it's intentional, like the way Apple make their stuff incompatible with industry standards. GW want to be incompatible with the various 28mm ranges, so they are moving to more of a 35mm scale.

As someone who plays in a variety of systems, the 25mm base standard for infantry sized models was a good one. It works on a 1 inch grid, which is the standard for all sorts of roleplaying games and board games.

Ah well. I may someday build a bridge and get over it, but at the moment I'm keeping my collection focused on infantry that is in the correct scale to match with what I already have, so no primaris. The tactical equivalents, bikes and sword and shield veterans all look great to me, some of the vehicles and heavy infantry much less so (and though the assault troops are a fun homage to RT, I prefer the old Assault Marines).

Maybe one day I'll get enthused and make a small force of the models I like from the range. But I think expecting GW to keep stuff the same forever is unrealistic too. My 2e and RT era Orks are "obsolete" because of the Brian Nelson plastics, but I don't mind mixing them anyway because I have affection for the old models.

Agreed! I like Gravis armour, but they're not terminators, just a bit bulkier power armour. We need proper Primaris terminators.

I'm not a fan of the arm design on those guys, these huge ammo feeds and the guns on the wrists with the massive power fists, I dunno it doesn't work on me.

It took me a while to get on board with Gravis armour. I don't think Aggressors were the best foot forward for them as a whole.

But, over time I've come to really like Inceptors, and I think Heavy Intercessors look incredible.

Yep, same. The giant mittens of the aggressors just look a bit silly, but the gravis armour itself looks nice.

You assume replacing firstborn was intended to be a quick process. I think the lack of new firstborn models speaks volumes.

Too skinny, yes. I think their height is already Primaris sized. Marines don't grow an extra 8-12" when they get Terminator armor.
