The BT box bugs me a bit - compared to the SoB box, or even the Ork one, it seems like you're stretching the definition of "army" to call that an "army box". 2 HQ, 1 Elites, 1 Troops (possibly two, depending on how the Primaris Crusader Squad entry ends up operating, but presented as one for now)... it's a fair chunk of points, given the EmpChamp, Marshall and Redemptor, but even so.
Orks had 4 units, 1 which can be built as 2x10 or 1x20. Not that different.
You expecting to get same # of models as army that is supposed to win by numbers?
I think it's the Redemptor that's bugging me, more than anything - takes up a hefty chunk of the value of the set without really shouting "Black Templars".
Switch it out for whatever the unrevealed new unit is - Hellfurries? - and the box is more interesting. Heck, switch the Dread out for a second Crusader Squad and you have something that is more suited to the concept of an "army box".
Outside of certain factions - Knights of either flavour, Custodes - or certain formations (Deathwing, Ravenwing), 13 models shouldn't be called an army. That's it.

As I stated earlier, the redemptor needed an upgrade sprue itself really to make it worth including in the box. A chapter specific icon sprue (large chain for the weapons?) and potentially additional/alternate weapon options.
However, an additional crusade squad or a full squad of sword brethren for the redemptor would be much more fitting.

There is apparently an upgrade sprue coming:
There'll also be a conversion/bitz/upgrade sprue that will have Templar relics on it (so-and-so's helmet, the sword of such-and-such, etc.), shotguns for Neophytes. and more customisation options like extra arms (Neophyte holding a helmet), or backpack-mounted candles. There will also be a multi-melta which will become a BT vehicle option. It'll replace the stubber on Primaris vehicles.
Would have been nice to see it in the box, although it may well not have anything applicable for the Redemptor. I hope there are some decent bits for vehicles on there other than the melta.

I'm surprised by the lack of an upgrade sprue too, it indicates that this BT release is minimal in terms of new models; with just one squad and a few characters.
I think the inclusion of the dread is another instance of GW trying to discourage breaking up the box on ebay. An extra crusader squad in there instead would be in more demand than a four-year-old model that's been in multiple discounted sets already.

I doubt that is the issue in its entirety.
When you can buy a redemptor and inceptors in the DA combat patrol box, and importantly at 20% discount via third parties, with the added bonus of the chaplain, 5x intercessors and DA upgrade sprues that you can sell on to further reduce your investment for redemptors and plasma inceptors (2x units most primaris collectors want, and possibly more than one of each)... It just makes little sense to purchase a redemptor individually unless you are limited in funds so are priced out of the combat patrol.
So yeah, I bet redemptors actually sell quite well and many want them, but not as an individual item when there are more economical ways to purchase them.

Ok, this good stuff!
The BT look great, and looking at the close ups, I'm pretty sure these are full kits, so there will be some options. I mainly want the crusaders/scouts for kitbashing though, so I probably won't be getting the launch box and wait for the full release instead. Also mildly annoying that there are only four scouts, but I need five to use them with non-BT! I hope we get updated vanilla Primaris scouts in the same style soon.
Also the Necromunsda stuff looks great. Market is cool way to add some realistic detail on your battlefields, and outcasts look nice. And of course this seems like a gang that is perfect for kitbashing all from all sorts of kits, and that's my favourite thing! I wonder if these are an update on, Venators, or whether they're a separate thing? I played Venators in one Necro campaign, and it was pretty apparent that the rules were not fully in line with the newer design paradinm.

I really like the necromunda models. They'll make great additions to my genestealer cults using a few bits from my box. They're probably the only set I'm looking to pick up from the previewed kits.
I'll have to see some unpainted neophytes before I can say if I like them. I agree with everybody who thinks they do look a little static for specifically black templar models. I'd expect more momentum in the pose for zealots. The worst thing though is the muscles, which seems awful. Hopefully it's the way they've painted them and they look better than I initially think. At the moment I'm not hopeful for any primaris scale scouts.
The warcry teaser is simply disappointing. I'm not desperate for more warcry models but saying there's going to be a preview and then not even giving us a glimpse of any models is misleading.

Yes. And then a sprue with the fifth full marine and the sword brother.
Expect monopose Ork-a-likes.
I doubt that. At least the shoulder pads seem to be separate pieces, which usually is a sign of a full kit.

I think it's 3 Initiates, 2 Neophytes per set of sprues, not 2 & 2. I think flamer guy and the bp/ccw guy in from of him are based on the same legs, but the angles make it harder to confirm that - I can see the duplicate legs across the other 8 models in the unit, though.

Ah, right, the sword brother has the same body than the fifth marine, it has just a a ton of extra bits on top. different chest, even different shin plate. These are definitely not easybuild models.
But yeah, three full marines, two scouts per sprue.

There's four exactly doubled poses and two that look very similar but are slightly diffrent, might be due to the torso being in two pieces, back and front, and the front one having two diffrent versions, one to build a veteran Sword Brethren and one to make a Initiate.

In many primaris kits there is alternate greave front plates for the legs so it can still be the same pose with different greaves.

It might be something like the aggressor kit, where the front half of one of the torsos has 2 options, one for the sarge, one for a trooper. With the way the intercessors greaves go on separately in that kit, they could have a spare one for the sarge as well. So most of the body is the same, but extra sarge parts are included.
Coin flip on the gear options. If it’s a duplicated sprue, I suspect there will be enough for all bodies to have either option, for pure squads. Although who knows these days.

Yeah it's the same sprue duplicated. There's just more pieces to the Sword Brother. I mean, there are only three models in this kit, but the options, such as they are, allow for 2 builds each. Wha-Mu-077 wrote:Also, I wonder if there'll be enough to equip the whole squad with either load-out, aka boltpistol + chainsword or bolters.
You should be able to make a duplicate of any model there - so two flamer guys, or two identical Sword Brethren. I doubt there will be any options beyond exactly what we see there, as this won't be the actual kit.

What seems to be an alternate version of the Sword Brother has been spotted near the end of the reveal video on Warhammer's official channel. Either that, or they accidentally put one of the Sword Brethren from the Sword Brethren kit there, instead of the one from the Initiates kit.
