I think it was more that they didn't believe peasants would be allowed on the pitch in the fluff (which they were in the BB2 roster) and/or they felt that it undermined the 'generic' Human team's existence and function in the game. Don't take that verbatim though, just the impression I got; there may have been other (possibly even pertinent) reasons.

It says "one of" though, implying its not necessarily the first.

Or it is another paired codex release.

Squats were from the same source that has proven correct so far (they also leaked the full contents of the Krieg vs Ork Killteam box months before the official announcement). The misunderstanding is that the original poster split the new rumours across two separate threads on B&C to try and keep the conversation more focused. Someone on 4Chan then reposted one of the sets of rumours (the one with the squats) with a load of additional rumours which were proven to be false, this has led people to believe the entire set of rumours are false when they are partially part of the same set of rumours that have almost a 100% track record so far.

The crone world Eldar? They have been in the fluff for a lot longer than that. They would make a really cool unit to put in the Emperors Children book, like how death guard have poxwalkers and thousand sons have tzangors

I have teenagers, so those scents already pervade out of their rooms . They are just rebranded "Old Gym shorts", "smelly Socks" and "things that used to be food" hidden under under the piles.

Once you get into branding there's a market for anything brand-aware. The key is that making "Tyranid Scent Candles" means taking your regular product; changing the image that is printed on the sticky label and then selling it. That Tyranid scent might also be "ZERG" for the Blizzard brand etc.... Basically super cheap branding.


GW is all about branding right now and they are clearly branching out and making contracts with firms. And sure I bet there is a fun market for stuff like that. People who like scent candles can now scent candle with their tiny bit of GW logo stuff on things. Same as coins, or clothes or mugs.

I wouldn’t worry about un-sold stock sitting around. GW has proven repeatedly this year that they can fail to make enough even for the expected customer base, to say nothing of folks outside the community.

I don't think the candles are that unusual really. I've seen plenty of other popular IPs like Star Wars, Destiny, Overwatch, Spyro, Borderlands Etc have themed candles like that, as well as similar things like diffusers.
