I couldn't care less about the Rumor Engine images anymore. They never actually tease anything. They're so ambiguous and meaningless that no actual rumors or speculation can be gathered from them. They're so unexciting that I just cannot be bothered with them anymore.

Let's call them what they really are 'meaningless filler content'.

Last weeks post proves you wrong but whatever.

So, the Preview definitely cleared one rumour engine image, and confirmed what the silhouette was showing.

Looks to be the Squig Knight from the Underworlds crew.

Both weapons of the Arkifane dude (though some may argue these were solved by the silhouette alone). Lead time of over a year from preview to reveal is impressive.

Not really, year used to be impressive but multiple things in 2022 were previewed 18-24 months ago. Covid really messed up the GW schedule, it seems.

Did anyone make a squig joke about this image? C'mon! Fess up if you did! We get them so often, I have to know... did someone finally nail it?

It would be a lot better if they just showed a single bit instead of a close up angle of a random model. Like an arm, a head, a gun, etc.

There’s the odd one that gives you enough to reasonably speculate without being too obvious, but most of them fall into this category for me too. Just so vague it could be anything.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

For months - until the silhouette during the previous preview event - we'd speculated that the claw/flamer was a new Huron Blackheart, set to come alongside a campaign book.

Shame about that.

Wait. Isn't this spear one of the rumor engine pictures? I don't recall seeing it before.

It's from the painting tutorial today on the new Warcry Chameleon Skinks.

EDIT:

Ah, not quite, but very close.

I didn't even realize this unit had a spear option.

It looks bigger than a regular infantry shield, and the rough surface and ''teeth'' on the inside of the chaos star makes me think of ogres or whatever they're called in AOS now. Maybe Beastmen, or Gargants. The rope may be for strapping it to the torso - chaos ogre gutplate?

Is it one of those bubble duffs?

Bit too easy for it just to be a chaos shield. Although a new Marauder kit would make sense.

It's a similar style shield that both the centigors and spire tyrants have.

Round shields from the current AOS and WarCry chaos guys almost always have reinforced edges, which this obviously has not. So Beastmen would probably be the best bet, but realistically it could be anything vaguely chaos-adjacent, and that's before we consider the possibility of it just being decoration on some random lump of terrain.

Interesting thing of note is that the top of that shield looks like it has rope looped through it and holding it to something. Which could suggest that its decorative on some monster/vehicle/terrain feature and that the shield is thus hanging rather than being held.

At the same time it baffles me that GW hasn't updated the marauder kit considering that the Warcry kits look amazing, fit the same role and really make the marauder kit look bad. Throw on top that Warcry keeps getting more and more chaos kits its just baffling that no one pushed through a new marauder kit.

Or simply retired the marauders altogether really, there's so many of the warbands that simply do the same thing at this point.

If GW thought that way we'd get a lasgun sprue for the Necromunda gangs, most of which could be repurposed as Guard regiments.

It doesn't appear their internal accounting considers this to be worthwhile.

I feel like the one model is all Beastmen will get, and that this wouldn’t be related to them..
