Just imagine how great it would be if they introduced a Xenos race in to Adeptus Titanicus, Orks or Eldar would fit the 30K timeline.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

No, 30K is for grown ups. The prols just can’t appreciate all the hot Marine on Marine action.

Well rumour is after summer 2 books no more aos books this year. Maybe gw is having worse production :ssues than thought.

If I recall that rumor started as a side bit/comment from Rob on Honest Wargamer and has no actual rumor behind it.

We're likely looking at:

Q2:
Tyranids
Imperial / Chaos Knights
Q2/3
Chaos Marines
Regular Marines v2.0 boxset boogaloo
Regular Marines supplements and biggified characters
Q3/4
Imperial Guard
World Eaters

Which leaves one book left from 8th. I could believe a nostalgic return to Codex: Chaos that combines Daemons and LatD with a bunch of callbacks to weird 90's things

What does that leave them to release next year though? Deamons and? 10th is rumoured to come next year so they might use the space to release campaign books to set it up. Aren't we due another Warzone thing? I'm kind of surprised there is no Killteam in the line up for that reason as well.

On the Squats thing- from the rumour chatter I think they will come out as a killteam first and then an independent faction later. Maybe at the end of the year for Killteam but probably next year. But I'd love them to start sneak peeks soon - maybe a bit like Sisters to give them a good build up as they've been gone from the setting so long. But I won't hold my breath. I think the release schedule is screwed up a bit for them with all the global issues at them moment- hence the eldar release stretching out sooo long.

There were rumours of a follow-up wave with a few more Eldar kits, which I could see being tied into another Psychic Awakening project building up to the next edition.

Honestly aside from Daemons I wouldn't be surprised if the first half of 2023 had only a minimal amount of 40k releases, until 10th shows up. Perhaps a few existing units or characters get updated alongside some supplements. Instead they focus more on other games for a few months.

They've said they'd 'change' the setting to introducing Xenos - a "War of the Beast" expansion adding Orks was their example.

To the best of my knowledge right now we have "Squats are happening" from a very reliable leaker. Which is no guarantee of it happening, mind. It's still a rumor. We don't know if that means Squats for 40k or Kill Team or both.
I don't think we have any way of answering how GW would handle such a release with any accuracy. Genestealers, when they came back, were treated as a fully autonomous faction rather than an addition to Tyranids. The same leaker said we'd get mortal Chaos followers and it looks like they will be an addition to Chaos Marine codex even though the Lost and the Damned have been standalone before. GW has gone back and forth on splitting off and consolidating factions like Harlequins. And at the same time Marines and Harlequins experience consolidation, World Eaters follow the example of Thousand Sons and Death Guard and are spun off into their own codex. All of which is to say, there is no pattern we could reasonably rely on to predict GW's choice (if Squats do come back).

There might not be a pattern but there is logic to it. It seems GW is making these decisions with an eye towards what they can support with a large enough model range to constitute a full on standalone faction that they can balance around having a variety of units available. Harlequins were likely folded because they have a very limited model range and weren't going to be giving any release slots to expand out anytime soon. I imagine that GWs intent is to "incubate" subfactions within larger factions to the point that they can be grown and split off as separate standalone faction. Harlequins, Ynnari, and Corsairs might be part of Craftworlds for a few editions, but down the line one or more of them may receive a half dozen new kits and the entire subfaction will be spun off as a new standalone codex, for example.

I think we're looking at:
40k - Knights/Chaos Knights
Worst case - Just Knights, not even Chaos Knights.
Worst worst case - Previewing Tyranids.
Necromunda - Ash Wastes reveal.
Worst case - Just the Ash Waste Nomads. Nothing else. "We can't wait to show you the rest of the box later in the year!".
Underwords - FrankenUndead Warband.
Worst case - Nothing. They generally only show one thing for each game system, and this is the next thing. They're basically showing us something that we already know about, just in more detail. I can't imagine them showing less.
AoS - Rats/Tree Elf or Beastmen/Tree Elf battle box. Announcing their new books.
Worst case - A preview of one mini from this set and a dumb trailer. "We can't wait to show you the rest of the box later in the year!"
Blood Bowl - Norse team. Perhaps expansion box teams for Dungeon Bowl (boxes with no new models, but combos of sprues for different teams).
Worst case - The FW thing that leaked a while back, and that's it.
Horus Heresy - The new Horus Heresy edition/boxed set.
Worst case - That Black Legion mini that leaked a while back, and that's it.

This is the most sober prediction I have seen in one of these preview threads in a long time. Agreed.

So not only is it completely unsubstantiated, but evidently was due to someone looking at GWs typically limited preview window and going "well, nothing was mentioned past this point in the future, so clearly nothing must exist there"?

Seeing beastmen got WD update right now odds are nearly zero for book for them for now. There's factions with no update. If they were going to release book for beast in summer they would be extremely unlikely to say the least have WD update just before it. Either WD update would have been lot earlier or skaven or something would have got WD update instead.

Generally agreed, however eventually they will have to "cut over" from factions that have got WD updates to receiving new Battletomes. Also. Crusher Stampede is fairly recent (~3 months?) and getting a new book within the next 30 days or so it seems.

Ah, yes. You're right. I forgot about that.

That takes Beastmen out of play, sadly. They could use a big update.

I'd die if they merged Titanicus into an Epic variant that used the AI models as well. It will never happen, but a guy can dream.

Probably, considering the teaser video this week.

FWIW, the Imperial Knights aren't supposed to get models with their new codex. There's always the chance of some plastic upgrade packs or the like, adding iconography.

Chaos is supposed to get a new Armiger class and a new Questoris class. Hopefully if so, the Loyalist Armigers get the ability to mix 'n' match weapon options to add some variety.

You're right, actually. This guy. I thought he wasn't out yet.

And cue me looking for "Black Legion" on FW's website before I remembered that they didn't exist until after the Heresy.

There’s still plenty of legions missing Praetor models they can show instead of anything to do with the box

The banner and the odd pattern behind the heraldry made me wonder if it could be a more bretonnian themed flesh eater courts.

Could also be Bretonnian team for Blood bowl, though the nobles did pretty much take their quirks.

I see an almost zero chance of it being Brets, especially not since the NAF has ruled that Nobility are a direct replacement for them when it comes to what is legal tournaments.

Makes me think more of a house colors placard/heraldry shield on a 40k Knight... which would go well with a potential new Knights Codex.

Can't see that being anything other than Knights/Chaos Knights or some variation thereof; given it's the same shield as in other Knight icons but with some Chaos wibbles going on inside.
