Well until the last ending slides this could well be the trailer for a different purpose with an edited final.

They haven't had a stable of animators to tap in the past like they do now.

Also, there is a pretty clear difference between ‘Primaris lieutenant the movie’ and ‘we’re bringing back the squats’ in terms of the effect of the joke. No one cares about a Primaris Lieutenant film. Lots of people want the Squats to come back.

A touch more hope doesn't mean HOLYTUTTIFRUTTIDINGDONGSITSREAL.

Sure. Which is why the Primaris Lieutenant the Movie never actually fooled anyone in an April's Fool-kinda way. As far as the idea of April Fools goes, Squats fit the assignment much better

The “they’ve done jokes with animated stuff before” doesn’t necessarily work, because that Lieutenant movie joke was most definitely made using reused assets. This trailer doesn’t have that, unless most of the assets are going to be used in a future Space Hulk game.

Squats were in the so far 100% correct leaks. Squats are coming back.

I mean, the thing about it being an April's Fool is that we have an extremely credible leak saying that it's not.

That still doesn’t make the time and money spent on creating those assets worthwhile for a joke. The amount of effort needed for what was shown isn’t going to happen on a small side project meant as a marketing joke.

It still could be a joke, but I think that it is most likely then that that last shot with the Squat is a replacement of what the actual reveal could be.

I don’t think it’s a particularly good idea for companies to actually get peoples hopes up with something they actually want for an April fools joke and then piss them off by it just being a joke, and I imagine GW know that too. They’ve always been pretty obviously jokes and things no one actually wants in the past.

One other thing in the "it's real" camp is the cinematic itself. The code says access denied and then access granted.. as if something with an old code managed to get through.

If it's real, great. Maybe a new take on Space Hulk with a team of Squats fighting a brand new Genestealer kit.

If it's fake, that's pretty cruel.

Nothing on the internet should be trusted on April 1st.

I point to companies like Hasbro funding and commissioning an entire freaking comic book as an April Fool's joke to show that companies are willing to put way more money, effort, and resources than you think into these things.

The BattleTech guys always do fun April Fool's. One year they put out a fully functioning set of "Power Ups" for BattleTech, like video-game style power ups, for for BattleTech.

Another year they released a full RPG that combined BattleTech and Shadowrun, just 'cause they could.

I mean, I'd be happy it for it to be real, but again, the whole phrasing of "share this! don't look at what day it is!" makes me pretty suspicious.

Maybe they'll re-use the video up until the key change to announce the new Primaris Investigatorrators coming with the new Codex in June.

Anybody getting properly upset about it being a joke (and I would love to have Squats come back, believe me) needs to get over themselves.
