Its a shame that 30K doesn't have a free-to-download patrol mode, like 40K, because I'd have gone for one of these sets.

Good stuff, lacking only in presentation (a clear group shout of each box's contents)

The Marine one having a heavy weapon kit is super nice.

Definitely nice boxes for those looking to start a new force. Interested to see the prices though.

The Marine one doesn't have a leader either. Will come down to price of course, but I like these, especially the Mechanicum one looks like the best (most useful) one for building a new army.

I guess it'll also be interesting to see whether these are going to be permanent additions to the range, or one-offs.

These aren't Combat Patrols there more akin to the Battleforces of 40k and Battalions of WHFB.

The idea being you pick up this box and one HQ unit and you're ready to go.
Auxilia being an equivalent to 40k Guard means they can cheat and use a Command Squad as an HQ choice.

The only one remotly decent imo is the solar aux one.

I like the Space Marine one. It's almost an exact match for my RTB-01 based original marines. Only a different dreadnaught.

Two of these, a consul and a Predator and I'll be partying like it's 1989.

F - is the Fire that rains from the skies.
U - for Uranium Bomb!
N - is for No Survivors...

With the variety of Marine Consuls, Praetors, etc., it makes sense to not include a character in the box.

I hope they make some character variety for the Mechanicum. There is only the Archmagos Prime in plastic.
The rest of my command models are pulled from the 40k line, including an old metal tech-priest originally meant for Imperial Guard.

The Marine one looks good to add to Saturnine, IMHO. Obviously players who started with Age of Darkness have had a lot more time to amass enough stuff to make it superfluous, especially the Mk6.

The other two are pretty cool to start with or add on to any existing collection, I think, especially the Aux one is just infinitely repeatable with no issues.

Depending on the price, that Auxilia ne may be quite good for Imperial Guard, even; use the spare guns from the sentinels to make sponsons for the Leman Russ!

With MKIII in it I'd have taken the marine one. No interest in MK VI though.
If I hadn't bought a second Thanatar already I'd have been interested in the Mechanicum, too.
So, good start, just not exactly what I need.

Technically there's 3 HQs in the SolarAux box, as both the Sentinels & Leman Russ can be taken as them.

Ill def pick up a couple those mechanicum boxes. Marine box is wait and see for me i think, depends on pricing and if the breacher sprues will be available separately, as i think im otherwise good on mk6 marines. Only thing in the SA box I need are hermes. If it was a malcador or assault russ instead of a strike id consoder it.

Aha, but they also have Solar Auxilia, so while your arguments are sound, the conclusion is flawed.

The marine box should have swapped out the Levi for a Contemptor. That's my only critique for the Astartes box.

The Mechanicum box is purffect, and will probably be buying one of em to add to my Mechanicum battlegroup box. Loads of automata for my Astartes, I need chaff units, no geneseed to waste (in the 41st miillennium of Rogue Trader..)

Leviathan comes with a Phosphex No Box.

Phosphex No Box is most excellent.

The Space Marine box comes with 20 Optae if you're playing Ultramarines. Or 20 Optae/Armistosiiaes and good luck using them all if you're playing anyone else.

The actual most annoying thing about these totally-not-battleforces: the perspective of the art chosen for the solar aux makes the russ look like a basilisk or other artillery.

any estimates on how much these are likely to run? that marine one is tempting, even if i'd prefer MK.II or MK.III over Mk.VI.

The marine one totals £166.50 at RRP. Discount boxes like combat patrols are typically at around 1/3rd discount, so that would be £110-120 here.
