WARNING: A bit of a moan incoming

I've been subscribed to Warhammer+ since Year 1. I have never been able to request my free model on the website. I always have to e-mail GW with details of how I paid for my subscription (I pay yearly, not monthly) and they manually send me the model.

Not the end of the world, I always get my model eventually, just would be nice if the website could handle it properly. There's probably a quick IT fix for this but whenever I bring it up with GW Customer Service they just send me what they owe me and leave it at that.

thats odd. I literally just subbed for year 4 and was able to immediately select?

Maybe its to do with when I subbed for year 1 (immediate), ie it carried my renewal date based on my original sub and not my re-sub?

As someone who’s never signed up, is the model free (included in the subscription fee) or does membership just give you access to buy the limited edition model?

You get 1 model for free. If you also want the other model you have to pay for it. I think Warhammer+ subscribers are the only ones who are allowed to order the second model. The second model is £26 in the UK, don't know about other regions / currencies.

When you sub for $60, it includes one of two options for free, the other one will cost you an additional $42.

Interesting. I had that issue the first year but every year after worked as it was supposed to.

Unless the mini is really good, not going to renew, content has yet again been very, very sparse this last year.

I'm starting to feel this way too. I cut them some slack in the first few years, I figured content would be sparse to start off with and then would steadily ramp up. Now that we're coming into Year 5 this doesn't seem to have happened though. I just don't watch enough of Warhammer TV to make it worthwhile. It's nice having access to the Vault, though a lot more could be done there too. For example old rulebooks with actual rules in them. As for the 40K app, I've never tried it, there's adequate free alternatives out there.

If the exclusive miniature is good enough I'll stick it with it though. I don't mind paying £26 for the miniature and £23.99 to access the other stuff.

Tbh this is the first year i thought both minis were good, usually theres a mediocre option and an ok but not great option.

Since they seem to be putting TOW and HH on cycle I winder if they will be offering options for those games for year 5

I’m glad I saw this. I don’t think I got any email notification from GW.

If there are 4 models available to choose from instead of 2 I'm all for it. If the AOS choice (or, god forbid, the 40K choice) is removed to make way for a model from The Old World or Horus Heresy I imagine this will be controversial.

As for previous options, I've mostly been impressed so far. Year 3 was a bit lacklustre, an uninspired Kasrkin and an uninspired Vampire Count. The sorcerer in Year 2 wasn't that great, though people who picked up that model seemed to be more interested in the familiars than the sorcerer. Still, they can't please all the people all the time.

One thing we haven't seen yet in these exclusive models is a Primaris Lieutenant. Fingers crossed for Year 5 everyone!

I just hope the 40K option is a xenos not Imperial!

I think the bigger surprise is them not making it an Imperial Space Marine yet, here's hoping they keep it that way.

I'm thinking the AoS this time might be a gloomspite model. They've gone destruction, chaos, death, order so in theory it should be Destruction's turn again for a model.

Could also be an ogre -a new maneater would be a good choice.

They'll never stop with the bait models, because the actual content on the service is ABYSMAL. There aren't many things that could get me to renew. One of them would be a cool Skaven model. So it'll probably be that.

I'm going to put my money on a model that looks cool but has no specific rules.

(I'll only sign up if it's Commissar Cain and Jurgen.)

I've been binging WH+ for a week now, rewatching my favourites and catching any of the things I hadn't bothered to watch.

Just finished Interrogator today- pretty decent- I watched a few of the episodes on the first run, but never finished, so that was cool. The Hammer and Bolter episodes Garden of Shadows and Kill Protocol are awesome. Rewatched the Exodite.

The non-animation content doesn't interest me as much, but I did listen to the Mandrake Loremasters episode while painting Mandrakes, which was cool. I also thought Scap Daemon was kinda cool... Though I'd almost rather they just did one artist per episode and really captured the "how to" feel rather than making a gameshow out of it. The gameshow format has some appeal though, so I get it.

I'm getting pretty antsy for the next round of minis. For 40k, more Imperial Weirdos would be interesting- but I'd rather a set of 2-4 unique Agents rather than another Inquisitor. Something Noisemariney would also rock. Maybe an Aeldari Exodite rider?

Either way, I hope the reveal is this week.

I expect the models to get revealed tomorrow. Wednesday is Warhammer+ day and the new Warhammer+ year starts on the 25th or 26th. Provided my memory isn't completely off. I don't think GW can draw it out any longer.

True that - it was Wednesday 21st August last year so should be tomorrow based on that.

The Vault alone makes it worth it for me—being able to revisit old White Dwarf issues on my iPad is pure hobby comfort food. Whether it’s nostalgia hits or digging into classic articles, it’s a feature I use constantly.

The free model each year? Honestly, that’s just icing on the cake. I’d still be subscribed without it, but it’s a nice bonus that sweetens the deal. As long as they keep supporting the Vault and expanding the content, I’ll keep supporting Warhammer+ indefinitely. It’s one of the few hobby subs that actually feels like it adds value to my experience.

I just wish the Vault formatting was friendlier.

Like, swiping left to right, rather than up to down. Like an ebook format.

But to have unfettered access to Imperial Armour lore is always going to be good. Spesh given the second hand market price for hard copies.

Bunch of Rogue Trader era stuff wouldn’t go amiss though. Yes I know that’s pre-digital era, and what’s been updated is an ongoing source of proper money for GW.

Totally fair criticism. Honestly, I feel that way about a lot of GW’s digital content—it rarely feels intuitive. Like, why doesn’t a show just start when I click on it? Instead, I have to click into the show, then hunt down the tiny play button tucked away in the bottom left. It’s a small thing, but it adds up when you’re just trying to enjoy the content without friction.

What would be nice is if they'd go back and fill in the gaps in the WD back catalogue. We only got one issue added in all of 2024, and that was the first in the current run, ~16 months behind print edition. Or if they'd add some form of ordering function for search results. Finding anything is a nightmare.

I wish the vault would offer downloads.

Anyone who wants a PDF of a 20 year old magazine can get one already so there’s no point not offering it IMO.

I would LOVE to have a digital copy of the WD's that contained the original Genestealer Cult Articles...

Of course, even if that was in the vault, I wouldn't have a digital copy of it; what I would have is access to a digital copy with rules removed for as long as I continued to pay...

Which clearly is not as good.

Still, I should flip through the vault sometime- Particularly in search of IA info about Eldar Corsairs.

More Stormcast? Where are the other factions?
I wouldn't mind more AoS, but more Stormcast is just more Space Marines.

They just seem to announce these more high end animation shows around this time every year to bait people to subscribe again. It was The Tithes last year and Pariah Nexus the year before that. Dont get me wrong i liked them but its like an hour split over three episodes. The other hobby shows shows they've done this year haven't appealed to me at all.

I think I watched more last year when it was just painting tutorials and loremaster videos each week.

My subscription doesn't renew till October so gives me plenty of time at least to decide if its worth renewing again.

Yeah, the only AoS I'm interested in is Skaven.

Maybe Chaos Dwarves.
