I think it runs into the classic problem of the new story not needing all the characters from the first story but still wanting those characters so you give them their own stories that distract from the main story.

Doing a rewatch of Alien Earth. Not a binge watch like, but couple of episodes at a time.
Smee and Slightly really do steal their scenes, playing kids suddenly in adult bodies to perfection.
I know I’m not alone in this opinion, but I feel it’s worth constant praise.
What could’ve been outright goofy, and potentially mocking developmental disabilities just works as it should. They’re not thick. They’re not stupid. They’re kids, with kid like reactions to situations. A mix of wonder, excitement, uncertainty and fear.
The entire cast is excellent, but those two? They’re just that step above.

Me : Sweet, a thoroughly excellent Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode releases 2 days early this week because of the Super Bowl. This is great!
Also Me: Damn, now its a longer wait for the penultimate episode. This is not great.
I’ve watched every episode 3 times, I think.
I was trying to hold off doing a weekly update on how much I’m enjoying this show, but I only lasted 1 week. Highly recommend this show, even if you aren’t a fan of the GoT universe.

I enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect, but a lot of the original wasn't either. Some of the voices aren't quite right... but a lot of the characters' voices also evolved significantly over the course of the original (particularly Miss Piggy) and it's been 50 years. Even if it somehow magically had all of the original voice actors, they'd sound quite different now.
At the end of the day, it looked like the Muppet Show, and it was fun. Best thing they've done since Muppets Tonight.

I watched it, and I am wondering if they are going to drop a new episode weekly or monthly or what? They easily could.
Good job on this by Seth Rogan. He did not try to re-invent or modernize it. Instead, he just did what made it work the first time and did it sincerely. This was a nostalgia watch for me, but I enjoyed the simple sincerity of it all. It was just a comedy variety show with Muppets, Sabrina Carpenter as a celebrity guest, and silly jokes. A throwback not trying to break any new ground, but just using the formula that worked before.

Just about finished with Stargate SG1 season 2.
There's a few really good episodes this season. One that jumps out at me was - serpent song.
Apophis is rescued by SG 1 and taken to earth but his plan is to run out the clock so another system lord will kill the Humans and him but he knows he may still live. I immediately thought, I would water board Apophis for information. Because he was leading them on at one point with promises of knowledge. The only member of SG 1 who wouldn't murder him was Carter. The rest made it clear they would happily throw him in a woodchipper, but not in so many words. I think that was almost a wakeup call for him. Almost.
One episode left this season then I will either start season 3 or re watch Babylon 5. The DVD set is arriving this weekend. I've had it on Digits for years but I am trying to get everything I love on hard copy. So maybe Farscape in a month or two. I'm realizing there just aren't that many shows I love. Which is a little weird. I thought there would be more.

Watching through Neon Genesis And ganglion with my son. Turns out it’s a 12, so age rating wise it’s fine. He loves the art style and the action, but let’s see how well he copes with the mental trauma a bit further into the series… we can always stop.
I had forgotten quite how gratuitous the fanservice is, even in just flute first few episodes.
Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
Honestly, while the original ending was a bit of a let down, End of Evangelion didn't really improve it. It did a little more highlighting how messed up Shinji was and added a bunch more action, without actually making appreciably more sense.
And then the rebuild movies came along and made it all really, really weird.
My recommendation is to watch the original series and forget about the rest of it.

The best part of End of Evangelion is the ending of the movie where Asuka kills all the S2 units and lives happily every after. Great action scene.
Rebuild is a freaking wild wild. In some ways I think it's a superior story overall, but in others it just continues the weirdness in new directions. The main thing I'll give Rebuild is that by the end of Rebuild you at least feel like Shinji actually grew up into a functional adult at the end of it all, aside from the weird bits with the character totally not based on Anno's wife.
Wonder Man (Jio Hostar/and Disney + I guess, IDK, it's blocked here)
Perfectly cromulent MCU story, doing something a little different this time.
Simon is a struggling actor with a dark secret, Trevor is a former international terrorist who honestly, really, totally thought he was just acting. And together they fight crime and/or audition for films. Actually there's no crime fighting.
It's cromulent. Perfectly cromulent.
The problem is I would have happily watched 4 hours of Trevor/The Mandarin/Sir Ben Kingsley tell long rambling pointless and profane stories about his glory days. But I never really feel much for Simon/Wonder Man/Yahya Abdul-Mateen, I mean he seems a good dude and I'm hoping he gets his big break but he's not really that entertaining to watch y'know.
So sign me up the Ben Kingsley Fun Time Anecdote Happy Hour, and maybe a few episodes telling how he survived the end of All Hail the King but in 2014.

Fallout season 2 was OK. Walton Goggin's CGI removed nose doesn't quite work for me, though. The exposed septum often seems to be at the wrong angle, and it just doesn't look real to me.
Don't click the following spoiler unless you've finished season 2.
Spoiler:
Is the notion of a shadowy faction behind the rise of Deathclaws a completely new wrinkle in the franchise? I thought that in the game lore that Deathclaws were mutated Jackson's chameleons or something, another non-engineered mutant consequence of nuclear fallout, like mirelurks or centaurs.

I like how Fallout turned out, including season two. But I can see why people might have issues with it. It feels much like what happened with the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. The first movie was new and fully self-contained. By the second one they knew it was well received and they'd get a third one, so while technically the second movie has a story with a conclusion, much of it doubled for setting up the third part.
I see the same happening in Fallout.

Regarding the spoiler:
Spoiler:
I can't say with even the slightest amount of certainty, but I didn't find the appearance or location surprising, questionable or off-putting when I watched the episode in question. I have this hazy feeling that I read in one of the games that Deathclaws were engineered to fight the Chinese, made big and nasty to do the job but also small enough to enter man-made structures. Maybe that was somewhere in Fallout 3, possibly the Operation Achorage DLC. It's way too long to remember anything in detail, unfortunately.

So, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
I was a wee bit on the fence at first. Mostly because Egg gives me the creeps. I think it’s the baldy heid. Makes them look like a lanky sprog with some horrific disease.
But this is how you do a spinoff. You know it’s part of the Westeros tale. It looks it, sounds it. But it feels quite different. More gentle, perhaps slightly whimsical. It’s played straight, but it feels of a lighter, warmer heart. And perhaps just ever so slightly tongue in cheek.
If you’re burned out on GoT? This is still worth a watch.

This is correct. It's been vaguely hinted as far back as at least the second game but pretty much always been a part of the lore. Just never a major plot point.

Yep,
After the snoozefest of House of the Dragon season 2, this is like early GoT seasons, but much more focused. 1 more episode for the season!
Last nights penultimate episode is a top 5 Game of Thrones TV moment, imo. Only thing that detracts from it is the oddly timed flashback.

Sweet, 1 more week & I'll get to watching this one.
(I rather dislike watching things 1 episode at a time. So if its streaming? I'll just wait for all the episodes of a season to drop.)

Whew...
I finally understand why HALO was canceled.
2 seasons and I felt like I was watching every scifi/fantasy show except for HALO. It felt like it was written by a bunch of people who didn't know what to do with Master Chief as a character and tried to make him everything he wasn't in the game.... human.
It was a nifty concept, and the Silver Team Spartans worked for me... there just wasn't enough of them and too much of other characters I couldn't care less about.
(Plus there wasn't a single ODST in the entire run).

Totally agree on the flashback. Also agree that the series is solid and well worth a watch.

As I’ve said before? The Halo tv series, to me as someone initially unfamiliar with the lore of the games, rendered me utterly uncaring about the lore of the game.
By all accounts this is a massive disservice to said lore of said game. But it stands as an example of what a crap translation can do.
