Is it just me or does this model not look quite right? I think it’s an awesome model bu the foot placement of the horse just doesn’t look right to me.

If both back feet are of the floor then shouldn’t both front feet be in the floor?

It looks like the horse is doing a trick where it stick it’s hind legs in the air and walks on just it’s front 2 feet.

Lol, now I can't unsee it...

I was googling a bit for pics of galopping horses and the pose does not seem to be too far off
Spoiler:

But the hind legs do seem to be a bit far stretched out.

Looks odd, but it's how moving horses actually look like.

I can’t stop looking at the markings On the leg, is it in the model itself, or a decal :0

Seems like a badly executed jump. Both front legs should be on the ground.

Turn it around and put an enemy next to those legs... its attacking! A kick from a horse can be fatal to a human, still probably somewhat inconvenient for many other beings too I'd imagine..

Indented into the hip of the horse. You can tell in the video.

Thanks, I hadn’t seen the video yet.

Funny. It may just be one of those things that's totally accurate but somehow still comes off as awkward. Might just have been a poor choice to sculpt that pose, even if it's true to life. It also could be that it looks better in person, sometimes models are like that.

It's cool Rough Riders are back though. Although I might have preffered Tallarn or Kreig in the saddle.

Fun thing about Horses in art? It wasn’t until the dawn of photography that people accurately depicted their legs.

I despise these models. They look terrible.....

I was hoping for something more similar to, you know..... the Real Rough Riders that stormed San Juan hill. Give them a jesse ventura look with slouch caps, some big swords and heavy weaponry like volley guns and they'd be a mobile fire support squad.

That wouldn't match up at all with what we know of Atilla.

I never said rough riders had to be Atillan, but i see the thread itself is about new ATILLAN models and not new ROUGH RIDER models, so that was my bad.

I think it looks amazing. A realistic pose, that mimics almost perfectly that first pic Pyroalchi shared. Armour is in useful places, random kit looks well attached and set up for extended patrols. The cloth adds to the great sense of movement.

Even the ears look dynamic!

According to folklore it was a bet between two gentlemen as to whether all four of a horse's legs left the ground at the same time that was the basis for inventing moving pictures (movies).

The horse doesn't bother me. Something else does.

Everything on that model is clearly in motion... except the rider.

I agree, he should be hunkered down toward the body of the horse or something. It looks like the horse is in full gallop/charge, and he looks like he's sat at a dining table.

Maybe if you are light cavalery and maybe just before the impact. Heavy cavalery didn't do any of the full gallopwhile leaning thing. Even durning the XIXth century and WWI, where the fire power was much heavier then in the ages past.

I like these. When I first saw just the pic I didn't recognize them as 40K and that's okay in my book. We don't need grimdark gothic in every detail all the time, sometimes a soldier on a horse just looks like a soldier on a horse. With a neat spiked helmet.

The half barding with random ironmongery attached, and giant boomstick make them more over the top grimdark/deep than they could be, or were previously...

Its a similiar sort of pose to the vanari dawn riders.

My wild theory is that someone just looked up images of horses running and used CAD to replicate it. As a miniature it just looks kind of off.

You want that dynamic rearing up sort of aesthetic.
