As an IG player who plays a regiment other then Cadia, no this release did nothing for me. I might pick up the commissar but outside of that I'll continue to wait for infantry models for my regiment. I've already waited 20+ years, I'll continue to wait. In the meantime all the money that could be going to GW shareholders will instead go other hobbies.

I'd be happier if they did it before driving me away from actually playing the game with nonsensical rules, but I'll forgive them if it turns out they weren't lying about doing a xenos book for 30k.

Drastrantra is named, but one of the few things we know about him is that he isn't active any more. (I think he flew into a sky portal or something.) But hey, the whole point of PLs is that they can come back from grisly fates, so who knows. I just figured that GW would probably be more likely to update existing PLs than introduce new ones.

ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Eldar need more than they got, AM players won't be happy unless the full range is re-release 7/8 times for different infantry sculpts.
That's before the AM players see the price tags for replacing the giant hands and heads of yesteryear.

As someone who plays both... eh, kinda?
I was not sold on the new Cadians at first but I'm very quickly warming up to them. I think it's a great start to revamping the IG line and bringing new players into the fold. We've gotten new DKoK and Cadians as well as Imperial Navy Breachers and Rogue Trader retinues and soldiers. All of this is excellent and opens the way for annual or bi-annual new regiment releases or even Christmas box sets for different regiments. I'm very happy with what's going on in the new IG, except for the new Comissar. Whoever sculpted that and then approved it for production should be taken out back and told they are very bad boys and don't get any cake.
Eldar were pretty lackluster for me. I know a lot of people are super happy with the new sculpts and I am happy for those people. I found the new Banshee sculpts to be boring updates and Jain Zar to be significantly less interesting than the OG. I had the same tepid attitude towards the new Reapers. Too many 3rd party producers and sculptors had already done them sooooo much better that I felt kind of embarrassed for GW.
THEN the new Shroud Runners, Autarch and Rangers debuted. HELL YES. Sign me up. Loved everything about them; def reignited my interest in getting new Eldar and putting my army plans back into gear.
So a very mixed bag in some ways but overall a good time to play either of these armies.

On the Eldar front.
I do think it’s odd that since 2nd Edition, we’ve had all of one new Aspect Shrine properly added - two if you count the Shadow Spectres.
I mean, canonically they’re the heavy hitters of the Craftworlds, the relative super troopers the Guardians are there to support.
So as well as adding the final four in plastic, how’s about a new Aspect or three added to the pot.
What exactly? I dunno. But the Crimson Hunters raise the interesting prospect of another vehicle based Aspect.
Perhaps a gunship Vyper type.
Weapons wise, whilst not a great bit of kit, Vibrocannons are somewhat under represented overall, being restricted to Titans, and the Guardian Support platform. Maybe an infantry Aspect with V-Guns, something to mess up enemy movement.

Sounds cool. There are effectively limitless aspect possibilities as they're all philosophical schools based on myths around the nature of their god of war, so anything is possible.
I would REALLY love to see a solo Exarch option returned. Like an elite assassin beatstick wholly focused on living their philosophy of war. It would be a great opportunity to have a huge variety of character designs in dynamic and exciting poses. THe autarch was nice and all, but it's a commander and thus standing there handing out orders....

Just a random thought, but updated Warp Spiders would be ideal for the Arks of Omen as they teleport through walls.

Aye that’s true. As would Fire Dragons, as a bunch of melta-guns running about close confines sounds like a a laugh to me. Scorpions too.

In the ttrpgs meltaguns were great for blowing holes through walls.
*sigh* if only scamdevs like Owlcat weren't working on the Rogue Trader crpg.
