I am theory crafting how I'm going to get my Wolves going.

Then looking into conversions and what not to make them the way I want them.

I got a Mastadon, and ironically I think after I test paint some Tartaros Terminators I have. I might paint that thing up and invest in the Wolf transfer sheet GW makes.

A Mastadon is a hell of way to start an army! I think you've gone a touch beyond theory crafting at this point.

Starting an Iron Hands army, since that seems to be what my friend group is doing.

The initial army concept had more... Gw fethed up with the auxilia in the transport department of releases

Given up on getting a good light in the house, I've been forced to paint outside in the sun, during the time I should be chilling, and then I have nothing worthwhile to do in the evenings. Bah humbug.

Not yet. But I think I want something Orange instead of red.

Printed out an alt sculpt of Fulgrim but printed out one that was waaaaaay way too large. So, when life gives you lemons, use them to make a statue or something. I dunno I'm not a philosopher.

9 more are done except the crackle base paint and the last few steps on the shields.

I'd love breachers, but with AL i want them to have Hoplons not the rectangular ones. Need to source em.

Maybe too much red, but picking out gun casings I find is a very fast method of making an army look better and more cohesive. Maybe do them in a dark gray? Even Corvus Black, with some edge highlights (a light drybrush is fine) will do wonders.

I had some less pleasant errands than painting today, and it's friggin cold outside, but I did manage to get the shields on. Still need chipping. Then another 10 dudes.

I think Blankfang's choice of a dark grey is the way to go here.
Painting the gun casings red alongside the already red shoulder pad would really throw out the visual balance of the models. Too much red in the wrong places. A dark grey is a nice neutral choice that'd help break up the black while not messing with the visual harmony of the model.

Really digging the brass on the shields. Gives them a nice pop against the subdued white/green.

I agree that red bolter casings will unbalance your colour scheme. I don’t think grey will add anything. A dark grey will be too neutral, and will just look dull next to the black. A light grey will be jarring. You want to add some gold or bone to your scheme.

There's like German Army grey, or the same color rock usually is the way the Burning of Prospero painted them.

Dunkelgrau was pretty dark - Vallejo Dark Grey seems to be the best match. I like HH Space Wolves in a medium grey, with little or no blue tinge (Mechanics Standard Grey, I think). Then I highlight it fairly extensively, as this brings out the detail and gives the model a worn look.

Mechanicus Standard Grey Spray as undercoat.

Army Painter Graveyard Grey Speed Paint.

Founded it! On the missiles. On the missiles is the result. A dead easy, gorgeous stormy grey, discovered by accident when I grabbed the wrong speed paint.

Being lazy, I’d leave it there. But plenty of depth to allow a highlight or drybrush on the edges for greater definition.

Thank you both! I'll try that on one of my Mk3's. I'll need to grab some more paints. I got Vallejo's 'frost' effect and might try it on bases and power weapons.

If you want a lighter one, London gris is also pretty amazing.

Anyways, Lachrimallus Auxilia magos and Servo automata converted out of one sprue of Tech thralls.
