GW will unfortunately probably think "apparently nobody wanted steel legion" instead of "maybe we overpriced the hell out of this"

Is this their justification for Finecast? Metal was expensive to keep using, but FC was just as expensive (or more) at the time.
Once this 'offer' goes away, are they going to sneak a couple of new Steel Legion models out in Finecast and see what the market does?

Oof, those prices! That comparison of them to Death Korps is just ridiculous: having built both lines a fair bit, yeah, Steel Legion are terrible sculpts by comparison, and that's even with all of my nostalgia for my first IG army that I sold off years and years back.

Sigh, I still don't understand why GW hasn't taken the opportunity to give some valhallan and steel legion head swaps for their now-plastic DK unit: it's far from perfect but would expand the line so much.

Well prices are up for the US now. I was really looking forward to these but not at that price. Their models get a better inflation raise than my paycheck.

It turns out that all of the tin used to cast Steel Legion comes from Eastern Ukraine, and the shipping containers carrying it to Nottingham were delayed by Somali pirates due to climate change.

I own a steel legion army, when i heard about this I figured I'd buy another couple of heavy weapon squads for it.
But Feth those prices. £67.50 for a single squad is ridiculous.
I have 100% brought stuff new in blisters on ebay for half that price in recent years.

The price of the reinforced platoon is 1092 NZD, which is 550 UKP, while the UK price is 331 for the same thing.

Just to give everyone an idea of how much they are gouging the Kiwis.

Did anyone really expect them to be cheaper than the plastic models?

Prices in € are 55 for the squad (includes a heavy weapon), Krieg costs 50 and Cadia+single heavy weapon 53

They did the exact same Steel Legion Squad as an MTO last year for $35 USDD. It's $65 US this year. People were expecting maybe $10-15 more not near double.Glad I grabbed the one squad I needed then.

Not to pre-empt the man himself, but an order of two Infantry squads, a Command squad, and 5 heavy weapons teams (three for the Heavy Weapons squad, two for the missile launchers in the Infantry squads) comes out to ~$157, and unless I'm mistaken you effectively get 6 extra bodies out of it - the command squad is a commander plus retinue/gubbins and the squad builder doesn't include an option for heavy weapons teams in the dropdowns so they have to be taken separately. So, down from about ~$7.71 per mini to ~$5.23, with some extra built-in options and extra bodies for if you don't want eg. a Medic (or just want to put the extras towards another squad, which would still be cheaper than the GW bundle as you could do the 5-man Fireteam builder for it and those only cost $20).

Those ridiculous prices are a fast forward of where GW pricing will be in a few years time.

This bundle above shows a US delivered price of $556 with a delivery window of 180 working days(roughly 6 months).


From my store, under the Caipari Shocktroops, 3 squads, command squad and 6 HW teams come out to roughly US$192. Add $10 for a commissar kit as well. With my offerings, you get to choose your heads, weapons, and special weapons for each squad, from the entire catalog. That package would also ship free.

It might take me a little longer than normal to cast it all up, but probably NOT 6 months.

Just quoting myself here, prices are out, and so am I! Those prices are crazy, not gonna start a small force with those. It would cost me close to 550$ to barely get 500pts of troops, then would need to add to it to finish the 1k list I wanted.

I took a look at Mad Robots, and between that and 3D printing, it'll be a fraction of the cost to make the army I thought about. Even for the tanks I'll be able to go third party, better to suuport companies that actually want to do business!
