Meh. Nothing says "40 years of Warhammer" like a boring model from a brand new faction. GW could have at least given us a RT-era space dwarf model for the nostalgia factor, this one feels like someone forgot about the deadline to get the design off to the factory and threw in whatever random upcoming character release they had in the pipeline.

Love the 40k universe but hate GW? https://www.onepagerules.com/ is your answer!

They could have done something better, like a redesign of one of the other Phoenix Lords or a Terminator / Genestealer diorama to tie into 10th edition

Remember when they celebrated 30 years of 40k with a single boring Intercessor, something that was basically a newborn?

Then everyone would have a very legitimate complaint that a unit that should be a regular release was done as a FOMO.

I genuinely can't tell if this is real or if you're just trolling us with a random picture of a bolter marine, which is sad.

Nothing against that Votann miniature but if 2017 was the 30th anniversary of 40k then 2023 is obviously not the 40th anniversary of 40k.
So shouldn‘t the model for the 40th anniversary not be for a system that’s 40 years old this year, like uhm WFB?!
Or was this miniature scrapped with the launch of TOW this year?
Something like this would have been perfect:

It's not a 40k anniversary, it's Warhammer in general. Also that's an AoS model that got released two odd months ago

I like the Squat. I'm fairly sure the previous Warhammer Day models were available through independent stores. If that's still true this year and I see it in stock, I might actually buy one. I'm always happy to see a model in this pose of resting a hand on a shield.

Spoiler:

I think it's best to view the whole 40 years of Warhammer thing is a marketing department initiative that is isolated from what other GW departments do. Like the last Orktober that was articles on Warhammer Community only, while the actual miniature releases happened in November. So in the spirit of Orktober, let's just assume that the Warhammer Fantasy anniversary is this year but the associated model release only come next year.

Fair, but I'd say it a pretty good update for this classic guy.

At least it's not a great model that you'll regret not getting/missing out on. That limited edition FEC was great and now it's gone. This is just a cool alternate model

Hmm, yes, I remember. While it's not wrong to bring a Space Marine for three decades of 40k, this model was so outright generic and boring it hurts.

The Votann model is a Dwarf in Space, but misses any nostalgia or tradition, be it Fantasy Dwarfs or Squats. It's not a fun miniature either, just a generic character model. Really underwhelming.

Bit more detail into the Warhammer Day model. It should answer some of the questions posed in the thread from people querying why this was chosen. Although, I'm sure it won't be the answer they want

Cool article and the last picture with the semi opened helmet option looks super. Cheers.

yeah. It's a little bland. That's honestly my problem with the Votann models. If they updated the squat aesthetic it might look stupid but at least they'd have personality. These guys just look like chubby Halo/Marathon 2/Mass Effect soldiers.

This would have ben amazing but broken my bank balance.

Approx armies
9000pts AdMech (Main army)
7000pts Black Templars (original army)
3500pts Death Guard (lazy side project)
2000pts Imperial Knights (extension of AdMech)
2000pts Harlequins (fun side project)

This parade of awesome articles will culminate on Saturday with an extra-special live reveal show on the Warhammer Twitch Channel. Things kick off at 2pm BST, and there’s a real welter of stuff to unveil: new books and miniatures for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar, a new box and a new faction for Kill Team, and big news for Warhammer: The Old World.

On top of this packed preview, you can celebrate Warhammer Day with an exclusive commemorative miniature – The Ancestors’ Wrath, an Einhyr Champion from the Leagues of Votann. She will be available to pre-order on Saturday the 14th of October for two weeks only.

New faction kicks some more sand at the rumored Scouts v Scorpions bit.

The scouts are all but confirmed to be part of the kill team. There’s an image of them painted as raven guard with bases in a similar vein to the karskins

You mean other than being shown off in advance of the KT reveal, shown as a 40k item, etc?

Would love to see that. We had pictures of them as Raven Guard via the reveal article, but they never showed the bases...and it would be exceptionally weird for them to be on Kasrkin style bases, since we're supposed to be leaving the confines of industry and going into the jungle.

With no new LI nor HH2 reveals, This signals that the new HH2 box and LI first wave launch is imminent, since we wont be getting new releases for em in a while..

KT21S3 box getting revealed this late means it probably isnt out until November..

Karskin were a kill team and were shown off with the generic guard reveals. Shiva.paints on Instagram has the image on his story and I’ll post an image of that when I get access to a computer. The raven guard bases aren’t techy; they’re red and a few small rocks

Edit: pic posted below. Also, didn’t they release every new primaris unit this week EXCEPT for scouts? Literally exactly like the cadians ?
