I know Astorath was always like this but he looks like he came from an offbrand 40k 3d print patreon.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Well I do like both of them but I first thought that they had fethed up Astorath face but a second closer look revealed it was a mask.

The upgrade sprue does have less big things on it compared to the DA one but at least the article also says there are four in the box while the DA only got two in theirs

Thighbone on the Eviscerator cracks me up

But that's not a half bad sprue as upgrade sprues go.

Well the army box set comes with decal sheet and besides BA markings it comes with Flesh Tearers and (with bit of an surprise) Angels Sanguine if I am not mistaken.

Looks like regular death company marines are gone since the intercessor death company is named death company marines. I am guessing from the upgrade sprue they will be limited to 1 in 5 for the infernal pistol and eviscerators. No power fist except on sargent. This going to be a big nerf to blood angels.

Oh, first-born Death Company are absolutely going away and going to lose a lot of building flexibility. That's just how this works now.

Read the most recent Codex. They've basically gotten rid of the Primaris/Non-Primaris difference.

Debatable.

20 Death Company Intercessors with Jump Packs and Without implies that there's two datasheets.
The Assault Intercessors on foot have a Thunder Hammer, Power Fist, Hand Flamer, Power Sword, and Plasma Pistol all that could be worked into the unit profile to go along with the actual BA sprue's Death Company themed items.
The Jump Pack Intercessors seem to be similarly set up where there could be more added in a way the "normal" unit doesn't get.

Well, Astorath is an improvement based on the old model. Slimmer, more dynamic, with a mask and without those dumb overlong scrolls.

Lemartes... I prefer the older sculpt with its more noble pose as a leader of the damned while himself in the grip of the Black Rage. New one looks more like a Berzerker or Space Wolf.

I was referring more to the models, but yes the units will obviously be consolidated. Jump Pack and Non-Jump Pack Assault units makes sense and is consistent with the main SM book these days, right?

Weird that none of the shoulder pads on the upgrade sprue have the Death Company cross on them.

With this box will it be the standard very limited numbers, 3rd party retailers given little to no stock and 5/10 minute sell out on the GW webstore if they can cope with the traffic?

I like Lemartes' model itself, but think the old pose was better.

For Astorath I never noticed the strong angle of both shoulder pads on the old model. They stick out more to me on the new sculpt, especially on the right side. Looks weird to me.

Custom40k Homebrew - Alternate activation, huge customisation, support for all models from 3rd to 10th edition

Designer's Note: Hardened Veterans can be represented by any Imperial Guard models, but we've really included them to allow players to practise their skills at making a really unique and individual unit. Because of this we won't be making models to represent many of the options allowed to a Veteran squad - it's up to you to convert the models. (Imperial Guard, 3rd Edition)

new Astorath is basically just the old model but now in plastic. it's a fine pose, and the plus up from finecast is a good thing on its own

the old lemartes model was pretty great, but this new one stands toe to toe with it. saw someone on discord call him "feral" and that's really the feel it has. one of the most exciting space marine models i've seen in a fair while

ok, why was it possible to just make the old Astorath in a new size with details updated, but not for Coteaz

different designers, probably even different person writing the design brief. even in the 90s, GW had a large team working on things, so you couldn't directly compare every model that got released

Didn't the old Astorath have him flying in the same pose but instead of jumping off another tactical rock they used the streaming scrolls as his grounding point?

I wish we didn't have another dude jumping off another rock.

Lemartes is amazing.

Lemartes is pretty cool, but perhaps he will not look to cool on the tabletop when he is crouching on the ground while his unit of jump intercessors have a jumpy upward momentum.

I would be tempted to simply put the jump-packs on the ground intercessors, and have the jumpy guys just be parkour assaulting with ordinary backpacks.

All in all, a pretty good release.

Quite like the box. Mildly tempted to pick it up as I need some Jump marines and its a tempting starting point for my quest to branch the Deathwatch into all marines.

Er, what? Yes, he has nearly the same pose and most of the details, but it's a massive improvement. The old model wasn't good when it was released (like the Sanguinor), the new one is.

Lemartes being upgraded to Primaris is just further proof that GW couldn't care less about any actual narrative.

I agree. Why would they do that to a Death Company member? Even if Lemartes has held on this long, it is unlikely he will hold out forever.

All of the new multi part vanilla terminators (Captain, Chaplain, squad) have storm bolters in two parts, that bit looks to be interchangeable with all the new kits to give any model a blood angels branded bolter instead of a generic imperial eagle.

The tiny image of the Death Company Marines (with jump packs) data card seems to blurrily show 1 extra pistol and 1 extra melee weapon option compared to normal jump Intercessors, so unless they get unfettered access to what's in their respective kits I expect the datasheet is just going to be jump intercessors plus an eviscerator and inferno pistol.
