Don't be like that, there was a 3-4 month gap between BA and the next 40k release, which is unusual at best.

Yeah in the last half of 2024 we only saw the July Agents codex with a single new model (lol) and the BA army box / supplement release in August/October. The last time there was a period with so few 40k releases it must have been 6th/7th edition.

They're going to need to average over 1 codex per month until Autumn to catch up to the usual schedule.

The Imperial and Chaos Knights earn new Combat Patrol rules featuring pairs of Armigers and War Dogs. The sheer strength and durability of these towering war machines makes piloting them a remarkably different gameplay experience compared to regular Combat Patrols, and to account for their low numbers, they play missions in their own special way. Both the Armiger Trailblazers and the Slaughter Talon score points from their own specific objectives – ignoring the normal primary and secondary objectives – but to find out what they are, you’ll need to read the issue.

Some rumours are also suggesting a Christmas 2025 release date - which might mean that Drukhari and Votann instead become early 11th edition Codexes around this time next year and skip 10th entirely.

Let's be honest it's all from Valrak at this point AFAIK, he keeps saying it's "coming sooner than you think" and today said he believed that all books will be out by the end of summer. He also believed that 11 will be a 10.5 and the current books will work with it.

To be fair, edition changes where codex still worked (with minor FAQs) are more common then not. GW has gotten better about making sure nobody gets to skip an edition without buying a new one though.

I'd be surprised considering GW doesn't tend to do back-to-back 40K or AoS releases that often unless they are the same army.

Maybe they'll get announced on the 16th Sunday?

Sure... If you don't count Tank Busters, Vespid, Aquillons and Ratlings because it says Kill Team on the box instead of 40k. And to be fair, the Ratlings and Tankbustas aren't available as separates yet.

No, because Kill Team releases are counted separately by GW beancounters as well. A lot of kill teams are ways for the studio to get another unit or two in plastic that didnt fit with a book release, but aren't officially "40K" releases.

I wonder if the lull was to build up stock since the Eldar, Kreig, and EC are all major model waves all in a row. Then the WE, DG, and TS are all probably going to be model light to give a bit of a wave before potentially a GK revamp.

If the Kill Team GK vs Khorne is true, it could be a way to redo one of the GK kits early, and give World Eaters a much needed new unit if their codex release will be light on new stuff.

I don't understand this, but I don't play the game enough maybe.

Combat Patrol boxes recently have been removing vehicles and the like, with a focus on infantry or elite infantry. I can't see many anti-vehicle units in the CP boxes either, so isn't having a bunch of armigers/war dogs running around the field going to be pretty one sided? Or are Armigers/Wardogs easy to bring down?

It used to be 3 Armigers for a Combat Patrol but this will only be 2 Armigers; you buy a single box, instead of 2 boxes with one Armiger sitting it out. Points wise most patrols are about 500 points worth of models, but a pair of Armigers will cost about 300 points.

Combat Patrol is designed for balance, so that each patrol box has a fair chance no matter the opponent. In the Warcom article they've said that the Armigers( or Wardogs ) will play differently than other patrols, and so expect to see some "gotchas" if expecting to win unopposed.

Necromunda Squats got 3 plastic kits in one day, don't tell me that's more than they're getting in 3 years of a 40k edition?

My pet theory is that we're getting End Times'd in 40k to make way for a decluttering of armies and redo on game systems. Because boy howdy did 10th edition hit 0 of the stated design goals. It's not less lethal, there are still a ton of rerolls, and auras keep cropping up again (fortress ironstorm as an example).

Rhana Dandra is being mentioned every time the Eldar come up. Dan Abnett is handling some impactful storyline involving something spoilery for the Pariah books so go read those if you haven't. The pace of codices is quickening such that there will be six months between Christmas 2025 and Summer 2026 (when a new edition would be released) for some wild narrative stuff to go down.

UK

You realise that 40K has been in the End Times are coming for the last 30-40 years. There's always some Hive Fleet, Necron awakening, Chaos Master Plan, Ork Waaargh that's going to obliterate all life or something.

You don't have to "End Times" the game to re-set the codex clock - GW does that every 3 years now. You don't have to "End Times" to improve the rules or declutter things or anything else.

Honestly End Times for Old World into AoS was arguably one of the greatest disaster moves GW ever pulled that was so big it triggered massive company wide changes from the top down. Sure not everything changed; but a LOT did around that time and sure they've come out of it stronger - but when you consider how well Old Wrold is doing now and that AoS has nothing (model wise) within it that couldn't have been done with Old World by advancing its storyline - then yeah - not the best choice.

So I don't think GW will "End Times" 40K. Sure we might get more subfactions merged into larger factions; we might lose some models; we might gain others but honestly you can't really argue declutter at the same time GW is creating 4 Chaos God themed armies from 1 Chaos Demons codex. That's an increase of 3 more full armies in the game.
