Not an unfair take tbh, chaos knights into the undivided book or an agents style faction would also be cool.

The grotmas list with Chaos knights and mutant-traitor-cultist-beastmen wretched scum combo is by far my favourite thing to come out of 10th edition. Not because its a great list (as far as I know) just because the concept is really great.

If they made this a real army design I'd probably convert my knights to chaos.

Considering that the EC get 8 unique datasheets + 9 confirmed EC versions of generic CSM units for a total of 17, and that there are 22 datasheets in the Codex, we've got 2 options:

Option 1:
Spoiler:
The remaining 5 units are Predator Annihilator, Predator Destructor, Vindicator, Forgefiend, and Helbrute.

This means that EC get a modest but fairly well-rounded roster, all basic units included, and presumably the ability to ally in up to 14 Slaaneshi Daemons datasheets for even more variety.

Option 2:
Spoiler:
The remaining 5 units are KoS, Shalaxi Helbane, Daemonettes, Seekers, and Fiends.

This means that EC get surprisingly little shooting and especially anti-tank options, with 5 cherry-picked built-in Daemon units sprinkled on top of a rather anaemic selection of Slaaneshi CSM units. Furthermore, this implies that Thousand Sons and World Eaters will get similar treatment to maintain some sort of consistency.

I'd love Option 1 to turn out to be true, but at this point in time Option 2 seems more likely.

Space Marines - 3.1k
Chaos Space Marines - 2.9k
Harlequins - 0.9k

I think there's a more likely third option: we just get the new EC units and the demon units in the codex, and we then use the main codex for the other chaos legionary stuff. A bit like they've done with DA and BA.

Aren't there supposed to be 14 demon units and 8 EC units which add up to 22, which is the number of cards in the new box?

Death Guard, Thousand Sons, and World Eaters don't reference the CSM Codex.
I don't think Emperor's Children will.

They don't reference them so far, but this is the first book of a new cycle, and all three you mentioned are coming out shortly after, so all 4 could work that way soon

It's notably not titled "supplement" and they've made no reference to needing other books or having access to them so far. It's a stretch to say the least.

They also have a different army rule (previewed in the article) than CSM do.

So, do we think Noise Marines can be doubled up into units of 12, or no?

I'm guessing no. Nothing in the preview suggested there was an option to NOT build the champion.

The Sunday article said:

"He’s joined by two units of six Noise Marines – which can include one Disharmonist each "

That would be an odd thing to write if you have to build the squad leader.

I generally try not to read too much into the terminology used by the social media team in posts. They are social media staffers not rules-lawyers and whilst they do try and use correct language to not mislead - so many statements could be argued any number of ways.

It could be you can take units of 6 or 12; or that units can only be 6 models with or without a disharmonist.

Sure you could argue that you'd never not take the disharmonist (esp these days with upgrades costing nothing); but it wouldn't be beyond GW to give you a meaningless (rules wise) option in the box to build it or not.

Again I think if you read the social media posts looking for really specific info like that you're setting yourself up for either confusion or disappointment

Yeah, I think there's about a 1% chance they work that way, and that's being generous. The other Chaos Legion books are self-contained and there's no reason to suggest that's not the case here. Not least because you'd run into the problem of what the 22 datasheets are if Rhinos, Land Raiders, Terminators and Daemon Princes aren't included in that list (which we already know they are). And if they're in the EC Codex but we're still supposed to reference the CSM Codex for other things that would be majorly weird. All the more weird because they just did the exact opposite with Eldar by including Drukhari units in the Codex.

It used to be 'spend £x' to get the coin, but since the article mentions to ask at your local store, who knows anymore?

I know that in my local branch it is still "Get a coin for every £60 you spend, assuming we have them in stock", but YMMV.

Ask them how to get them and its typically £60 spend in store per coin. Store manages might be allowed some leeway on this to adapt the amount to the situation and customer. Ergo some might stick to it; some might require less or might allow some customers more leeway on the limits and so forth.

But honestly I'd expect a min spend of £60 per coin.

Yeesh. Maybe I’m not as interested as I thought. Although I guess it’s just a bit more than a squad box these days :(

Honestly looking at the price the coins go for in the loot-grabbing group on FB you basically either luck-out finding one supercheap on ebay or from a friend who doesn't care; or its about the same to get them from the GW store with £60 retail buying without discount that you'd get from a 3rd party store.

The Sororitas coin came out the same week as Celestians and Redemptionists released, and buying a box of each was just enough to qualify for the coin; I justified to myself that the 20% I wasn't saving by buying from GW was the price of the coin...

Also sonic weapon leak has Sonic Blasters at 18", 3 shots, S5 AP1 D2 and the Blastmaster at 18" with either 6 shots at S6 AP1 D1 or 3 shots at S10 AP2 D3, all ignoring cover. Combined with the list of units this confirms my fear that EC have basically no effective ranged anti-tank. Unless there's something else in there that makes up for it, this is very worrying in a meta full of vehicles and monsters. It also makes the decision not to include Predators or the Forgefiend even more baffling.

Simple, they're a melee army now primarily. Rumour has the blade guys auto wounding all targets on 3s and maulerfiends are good at the task.

Not even surprised.

Something's telling me not to hope for daemons at this point. Honestly, though, I wouldn't mind if they only got rid of Syll'esske's datasheet since they both look too Hedonite for 40k(the daemon prince part, anyway).
